Off-Season Tweaks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howisbergevinstillhere</b></div><div>Kulak was good for about 6 minutes. I’m not saying the signing was good or bad. Here’s the thing, MB is clearly trying to give Claude as many weapons as he can while allowing Claude to run the team how he wants. If Romanov plays that’s a physical d on every single line with the first two having 2. They have build the back end around physicality with Weber and petry supplying the offence. Then upfront we got bigger and nastier with toffoli and anderson(Anderson supplying the nasty) we also have good depth every where including potentially 2 30 goals scorers and a couple of 20</div></div>
First, Kulak has been solid for two seasons now. He and Petry are one of the best defensive pairs in the NHL, and clearly the Habs' best. His dominant performance was only the icing on the cake.
Second, nasty/physical is good, but being good at hockey is even better. Kulak may not be a bruiser, but he's no slouch on the physical side, and he can actually be effective in top-4 minutes (unlike Edmundson).
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sabres923</b></div><div>Sabres have plenty of bottom 6 forwards. They don’t need Byrons high cap hit.</div></div>
Yes, they have plenty of garbage bottom 6 forwards. Take, for example, Cody Eakin as your third-line center. It's great having a solid top-6, but it means nothing without depth. I think the Sabres would make that trade.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riley816</b></div><div>I like the Edmundson signing was a mistake. Let NJ pay us to get rid of our mistake.</div></div>
Apparently Edmundson was a hot commodity on the UFA market , so I don't think it would be that hard to move him. Especially for a 5th from a team with a traditional GM, plenty of cap space, and no defensive depth whatsoever. In all fairness though, what I would do is go back in time one month and simply not sign him. Problem solved.

Domi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>I don’t disagree that this package doesn’t get it done but Domi is a 50 point winger. I’d say he’s worth a 1st and maybe an okay to good prospect</div></div>
Domi is a roster player, and he's young enough to fit into the Habs' current rebuild/reset. The Habs will want an equivalent roster player back, or a package of futures that will knock their socks off. Remember: He's still an RFA and he wants to play in Montreal.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>Fair enough. Habs are good enough either way. Center depth is only going to get better. IMO Romanov is going to be a Norris guy in 5 years. I’m very hyped on him</div></div>
Probably not enough offensive skill for that. I think his ceiling is a decent #2 D playing with an elite offensive #1D (Weber? Petry? They'll probably retire before he reaches his potential). More likely, he'll be a very good second-pairing, all-situations defenseman.

Domi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chigurrhh</b></div><div>Less than half a season of NHL play and the skillset is obvious. The skating, zone exits, and gap control are all there. This isn't "he shot scored a bunch of goals shooting 25%" or some limited sample size thing like that. And I'm telling you what management and coaching staff thinks of him. His underlying D numbers are elite. You are clearly undervaluing the guy.
Addison right now is a reasonable ask because he's a few years from being ready and isn't a sure thing. If he were a rookie and living up to his billing as a good pucking moving young D on an ELC, then that would also be an absurd ask.
Young established D rarely get moved because they are so valuable. That's the reality of the league (unless you are the Anaheim Ducks who keep trading them for whatever reason)</div></div>
Again, half a season is not "established", no matter how good Marino looks. Remember: Galchenyuk had a superb rookie season, and what do you think of him now? Still, I would do the Addison deal instead, since I think it makes sense for both teams' timeframes.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensfan89</b></div><div>Literally the LAST thing the pens need is a top 9 center lol. We are trying to get rid of one cause we already have like 6.</div></div>
See my above post re: Domi being even better at LW.

Domi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chigurrhh</b></div><div>The Penguins absolutely do not need a top 9 C. Domi is ideally a winger. Jared McCann played 2C for most of the year and did a good job. He's currently playing LW because Guentzel got injured. Blueger centers the shut-down line that get's 3rd line minutes and plays a against top competition. Bjugstad is about to return from injury. The team also has Crosby and Malkin.
Domi is an imperfect asset. Talented but there are a few issues there. Marino is about as valuable a young player a team can have. Management views him as a future no. 1 guy. That's a crazy counteroffer.</div></div>
You may think so, but it's the going rate. Domi is arguably better at LW, so if it's a top-6 winger you need, you're set. The Addison offer may be a better fit for a Pens team that wants to contend now and in the near future, but Domi for Marino straight up is still fair value (no matter how much you overvalue Marino based on less than a season of NHL play).

Domi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>That would be interesting. Value is there. Imo. Maybe Addison and a pick ?</div></div>
Yeah, I think that could work. For a raw prospect though, it would need to be a 2020 1st. 2020 picks are especially important considering MTL's timeframe and the fact that the draft is in Montreal.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chigurrhh</b></div><div>Marino is literally one of the most important players on the team. He's a shut-down RHD that can skate and is 22 on an ELC. That's insane.
Domi has value but it isn't as high as an equivalent player with a contract. There's uncertainty there wether that be with arbitration or negotiations. There's also the fact that he's an a lot of inconsistency in his career and is fairly flawed. Good player but there's a reason he's been traded once already.</div></div>
He's a superb playmaker and a decent shooter. He's in his prime, with room to grow. The problem with the Habs is that he doesn't fit at center (Suzuki has displaced him and we need to prioritize youth), and we've got other playmaking options at LW (especially Drouin, a very similar player). PIT needs a top-9 center, and Domi would fit. Arbitration concerns are overblown, especially since his stats this season aren't as great as last season, which should deflate his asking price.

Domi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>Domi has scored 60 or more points 1 time in his nhl career. He’s not even on pace this year for 60. He’s more than likely going to score 50 this year. Poulin is a great prospect I’m not saying he tips the scales to make this trade more fair (he’s realistically a B B+) but you are clearly glorifying Domi. He’s a solid top 6 player but he’s far from Elite or whatever you are hinting at.</div></div>
Correct, but a B+ prospect and a low 2nd is not enough to land a top-6 forward in his prime. Habs need young D. Here's a counter-offer: Marino for Domi, straight up.

Habs Retool Continues Gardiner
<a href="https://imgur.com/a/JeCXmKx" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://imgur.com/a/JeCXmKx</a>
Gardiner is actually really good, and he'd be a great fit with Weber, since he moves the puck so well. Weber would help insulate him defensively, and Gardiner would help Weber exit the zone. The overpayment is unfortunate but necessary to land a top UFA defenseman (who's still only 28). It's a bit more than what Fowler or Ellis got, but the cap is going up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojme</b></div><div>Trades are terrible for everyone who doesn't have bergevin as a gm.</div></div>
Meh, St Louis can say no to the best goalie in the league (who admittedly had a down year), a top-pairing D, and a young 1st line RW with a great contract. I thought that was fair value for an unproven starter, a deadweight contract D with injury issues, a younger top-4 D with top-2 potential and a blue-chip prospect. What would you counter with as Blues GM?
As for the Panthers, they would be giving up their young second line center, a blue chip prospect and a young second-pairing D for an elite 1st line sniper, a top pairing D (admittedly with a **** contract), and a guy who scores 20 goals in the bottom six. All that with salary retained on Pacioretty and Byron.
Both those trades help the teams win now, and they sacrifice pretty much all of the Habs' top talent in exchange for futures.

Trade MTL
Hahahahahaaha hell no. I wouldn't even do Beaulieu for the 11th overall. Unless you massively overpay, he's not going anywhere.

Decent roster! Glad to see you kept Diaz in the lineup - he's really underrated. Girardi is hot garbage and you should move him ASAP. Also, you're not going to get Perron for $4M, and if you do, it would be an absolute waste to let him languish on the third line (although it would give the Rangers some dangerous depth). Klein on the first pairing is a joke - he's a borderline third pairing guy. Your blue line is pretty weak, so you should consider signing or trading for a top-4 D with the cap space you save from ditching Girardi.
