Stars Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Admittedly, this year hasn't been as good for him as the latest. But mostly I could say the biggest factor is the amount of d-zone starts he takes in comparison to how little goals DAL lets through. Last year, the ratio between the defensive compared to offensive zone starts was 74% to 26%, and the on ice save percentage with Faksa on ice was 93.5% in 2017-18 and 92.7% in 2018-19.
In comparison, these stats are higher than that of Cirelli's and Danault's respective stats for example, which are regarded as a great defensive centers. Obviously why those two are more valuable than Faksa is because they contribute offensively as well.
Also the guy doesn't fail the eye test, although that's a tad harder to prove. The only way to do that would be watching DAL games.
You can see more here: <a href="https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/f/faksara01.html" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/f/faksara01.html</a> and <a href="https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/frozenpool_playerusage.php?team=DAL" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/frozenpool_playerusage.php?team=DAL</a></div></div>
Fox could probably contribute quite a bit more offense if he didn’t have Cogs and Comeau chained to his ankles

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlevinKalevra</b></div><div>Last off-season was probably the time to move Benn and Rads. Signing Pavs was a massive mistake and what happens when a GM is looking to land a big name to save his job</div></div>
To be fair, Dallas had just been 1 OT goal in game 7 away from knocking out the eventual cup champion and making the conference final, so it's understandable that they felt that they could squeeze in another go at the cup. And with the efficient defensive style they play they do have a chance at knocking out anyone in the playoffs this year.
But yeah, probably not too long left for them to get the best out of this team. That Benn contract is a huge backbreaker and probably limits how quickly they can do a retool.

Team is good. Just tad old and therefore not long-term sustainable.
If our window isn't over, it's going to be that soon.
The over defensive game philosophy just hasn't brought the results we were looking for...although it got us to OT2 in Game 7 against the forthcoming champion.
Imo if this season is a failure, we should move Radulov and Klingberg for future assets.

Keep dreaming.
In current level that might be true, but the fact is that DAL will never even consider moving Heiskanen for Marner. That's absolutely 100% certain.
Marner is TOP5 RW probably, but Heiskanen's about to become one of the best, if not the best D of modern day Hockey.

No way that works in a cap world. Assuming Nill shopping Miro was even a remote possibility, the asset(s) coming back would have to be as young and cost controlled as Miro. So Marner and his fat juicy contract doesn’t work unless other pieces are involved

Klingberg was better defensively last year finishing 14% above the league average percentile in overall career contributions. He’s mainly an offensive defenseman, but the benefit of this trade for Toronto is they open up cap space to bring in the shutdown RHD like Gudas or DeMelo or Weegar whom they will use for tough matchups. So technically, their defense could look like:
Muzzin-Gudas
Rielly-Klingberg
Lehtonen-Holl

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>firezfurx</b></div><div>Toronto declines. We take out Liljegren and you take out Comeau and we accept. If that's not enough take SDA. He's worth like a 2nd. And Bracco if you want I know everyone laughs at him but he is 1 year removed from a over a ppg season in the A. Worth a 4th/5th.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>firezfurx</b></div><div>That's funny. As is Nylander has slightly more value then Klingberg. Nylander+3rd= Klingerg+Robertson.
Nylander is a big piece, 37 goal pace 70 pt pace playing on the 2nd line.
He would've been your top goal scorer by <strong>11 GOALS</strong> and your highest point producer by 9 points. He performed considerably better then Seguin, Benn, etc. People forget how good he is.</div></div>
Nylander and Klingberg are equal in my opinion. Dropping Liljegren and Comeau is absolutely ridiculous idea considering how good Robertson is.
Klingberg+Robertson = Nylander+3rd is the stupidest thing I've heard for a while now.
DAL is low scoring team so it's not exactly a surprise that Nylander would outscore players from the team. Tyler f***ing Ennis would be the 2nd highest scorer behind Seguin in this team.

While it may be true that these players would fill some needs, they aren't valuable enough for us to trade Faksa for them. You can get equivalents of those assets in level from free agency, but it's very hard to find another Faksa for that matter.
Our wingers are pretty versatile and able to play both wings with no problems.
I also don't think Puljujärvi is returning to NHL any time soon. He feels home in Finland and doesn't seem that eager to return to NA. He seems happy with being able to be one of the best in the Finnish league.

You're speaking this as if you know the future... a lot of "he will"s. I'm throwing out speculations based on comparable players. Barzal, Point and Aho are the closest thing we have to a comparable for Pettersson's contract currently, and only two of those contracts are known, and they are at a bridge and mid term length. Barzal the closest, and we don't know his contract yet.
I struggle to see a world where Pettersson takes 11M. Maybe if he was on Toronto, but I struggle to see that unless the Barzal contract gets messed up.

Stars aren't giving up Robertson. He's 1 of 4 prospects that has a legitimate shot at being an impact player at the NHL level (Dellandrea, Oettinger & Harley being the other 2). Those 4 guys are essentially the entire Stars prospect system. Trading any of them is a massive blow to an already thin farm-system.
