A bottom half goalie from last year with one year left, a long term project defender, a shoulder injury LW, and a 2nd has little value.
Can we get Nylander for Reimer, Bean, McGinn and a 2nd? No? Why not?</div></div>
One thing I'll say is Hamilton has ALREADY been traded TWICE and both times it was for was less then this. And he was way younger. He's a ufa next year. Good luck

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dp6154</b></div><div>Yeah I;m trying to make sense of why they think Ottawa would give up two higher 1sts for a lower 1st unless they assume Toronto wins the lottery, why is CArolina just handing Toronto a 1st? all of it is bad
The weird thing is though this isn't the first "kerfoot &" that 's seen proposed to the Blues for Parayko. The Blues aren't moving Parayko, especially for a 3C and junk when they are center rich and yet the thing in Toronto right now seems to be "who do we package with Kerfoot to get Parayko?"</div></div>
Yes. Toronto’s pick is top 10 protected. This is the first overall pick scenario.

Leafs trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kukas26</b></div><div>if you think about it, this makes some sense. if it were 7th and 10/11th it would be fair. rielly will probably cost a lot when his contract expires, kapanen and johnsson are good top/mid six players that can help NJD because they’re weak in that area. rielly can be paired with subban. leafs can take two of drysdale, sanderson, askarov, holtz, raymond, lundell, rossi etc.... this draft is pretty open after the top 3.
then use that money to sign petro or krug, probably petro because he’s a RHD
d core becomes:
Muzzin-Holl
Sandin-Petro
Lehtonen-Dermott/Liljegren
or something like that. not exactly</div></div>
Exactly. Top 12 are strong in this draft. If they can snipe Drysdale or Sanderson and a forward like Holtz or Rossi. Pietrangelo would be the one to sign and maybe he comes in cheaper with the flat cap. 8m x7

I’m a leaf fan. Rielly will cost 10m in two years. We have too many LHD as is with Muzzin Sandin and Dermott and euro signing etc. Rielly can get 7th overall at his price tag. NJ likely what’s to be better fast with their young core. Johnson and Kappy are Cap casualties possibly worth 10/11 overall with Rielly. Both wingers would solidify NJ really weak top 6. Rielly w/Subban should solidify their backend. Plus they still have a first. Leafs take Drysdale or a big Forward with 7 and take Askarov or Sanderson or a big F at 10. Sign Krug or pietrangelo with the cap space. Robertson plays. Laf plays 😉. Maybe. Lol.

Next Year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jmac490</b></div><div>I think you underpaid for Ekblad + Knight. You could potentially ship Johnsson in that deal to make it more palatable. I also think you overpaid for Bjorkstrand and could remove that deal entirely.
I'm not entirely sure if Pittsburgh would trade Jarry, as he has been the better of the 2 Pitts goalies this year.
I'd be tempted to play Sandin with Ekblad and Chychrun with Lilly, just so that the experience is a little more spread out.
I would also run a Mikheyev-JT-Nylander 2nd line and have a Engvall-Kerfoot-Spezza 3rd line. I'd let Robertson hang out in the OHL/AHL for 1 more year</div></div>
All valid points. I figure Rielly has produced more then Ekblad although Ekblad has improved this year. Florida want to save money. They just traded trochek for a pending ufa a bottom six guy and 2B prospects. They might move exblad if it saves them money and they don’t get worse. Knight is for Scott doesn’t impact next year anyway.
Bjorkstrand is a legit sniper. He’s going to score more goals then each of Kappy/Johnsson/Kerfoot by a mile. Worth the investment for a guy I like that’s making 2.5m next year. Leafs are trading salary by adding multiple players in that trade.
Jarry and Anderson trades are just an idea to get younger in Net. This type of deal should be a priority in my opinion.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drewjenkins</b></div><div><strong>I honestly can't tell if these trades are a joke? </strong>
The NYR package might get them Rielly by himself.
Kapanen and Johnsson are both more valuable than Kreider as he's a UFA.
Shesterkin needs to play more than 7 NHL games to earn #1 goalie value.
An extended Barrie by himself is an overpay for Bjorkstrand.
Bjorkstrand is in his 5th NHL season and has a 40 point career high.
But Toronto should add Kerfoot + Bracco and take a huge cap-dump?
Andersen is easily worth more than a lottery protected 1st round pick.
<strong>OFFENSIVE UPDATES (2020-21)</strong>

<strong>Return</strong> = Bjorkstrand + $5,000,000 cap-dump
<strong>DEFENSIVE UPDATES (2020-21)</strong>
<strong>Traded</strong> = Rielly + Barrie
<strong>Return</strong> = Fox
<strong>GOALTENDER UPDATES (2020-21)</strong>
<strong>Traded</strong> = Andersen + Woll
<strong>Return</strong> = Shesterkin

Some ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>beliboy32</b></div><div>I can get behind one of you trades the rest unfortunately make no sense for one side or the other. The Calgary trade makes sense as Calgary is getting a serviceable player in Shore and a skilled prospect in Timashov and toronto gets some grit in Jankowski. The Anaheim deal makes no sense for us taking on a goalie one who has a M-NTC and the next milan lucic in nick ritchie. Kase .... ok lateral movement with either kap or johnsson. Makes no sense for us to get rid of our speedy gritty players on good deals in johnsson and kappy. so that trade is a hard pass. If you can tell me why carolina logically would make this deal i'll agree with it... but heres the thing you can't. if barrie has a sniff of success he will be asking 8x8 approx. 4mil more a year then pesce is getting and he is 3 years older and not as good defensively. getting our first back in that trade is a useless asset to gain. the pick is top 10 protected. I think 90% of the hockey world would say the leafs wont be this bad next year. so who cares giving a late first next year. i could go more into the trade but ill move on to the NJ deal..... its the carolina situation just in reverse lol why would we take on hall who is ready for a BIG payday and not to mention a Dman past his prime who has proven to big of an ego in two locker rooms and two cities.
I like the premise of this overhaul you've done but its missed the mark badly.</div></div>
I agree with most of this. Well said and thanks for the thorough reply. He ducks trade i like for a few reasons. I think Kase is the best player in that deal and he’d be a great player driver and shooter with this talented group. Tenacious on the puck and does a lot of good things. Ritchie I’m hoping finds a role that helps this team. By that I mean he’s have to play a tough game and really give Kase and Jankowski some room. But I agree he’s much slower then both Kappy and Johnsson. Might not be the best fit. Kappy I love but I think he isn’t good enough to be a consistent shooting threat like Kase. But I do think he’s one of the fastest guys in the league and if he used it more going wide and driving he’d be much more effective. Johnsson I really like but he’s tiny and not that there’s anything wrong with that but he’s support guy more so then a line driver. Miller is just an upgrade for the backup.
And with the other trades there are many reasons why it wouldn’t be a fit or valued correctly.

Ducks trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojme</b></div><div>Both teams decline. Barrie for kase would be closer if Barrie wasn't a ufa.</div></div>
I imagine an extension would need to be agreed on but the Ducks were looking to trade Kase plus for Faulk so this makes sense.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jack_</b></div><div>Neither of these trades makes them better.</div></div>
I think the leafs improve by swapping Kase over Johnsson and joki over Barrie helps long term and short term is a wash. Barrie isn’t returning to the 60pt player he was playing on pp2 and I wouldn’t resign him. So this makes sense to me.

Why not move Hyman. Kerfoot has to be an upgrade over Hyman. Jankowski is a better fit at C. Adding Bracco might not be needed but I’m ok with it if Jankowski comes. He hasn’t put up big numbers but watching some of his play he’d be a nice fit at 3C. Cheap this year. Extend him for 3.5x5.

I also really like hymans game. And he does forecheck well and protects the puck very well. He adds an physical element that the leafs need. I just think I’d sell high on him. He had a great year. Jankowski is 24 6’4 skilled C that might resign for around 3m. I think this helps the team more.

I added to these trades to get it done. Hyman for jankowski would help the leafs at C and help Calgary on the wing. I think jankowski has lots of value even though he’s only manages to produce sub 40pt seasons. Locking him in for 3m x 4years would work well. Honka is a wild card. Not sure what value he has.
