AZ should not be trading a good 3rd line center for a mid 4th line center. Hayton should not be paying in the top six, he has just been required to because AZ does not have any top six centers (Cooley soon) until some of the youth transition into the league. Once Hayton is paying in his appropriate role, I expect his production will jump considerably.

Looking at them
Skjei is an interesting choice. I would be stoked if a deal like this could be made. I think the AAV is low for the overpay that would be needed to draw him to AZ but the term is spot on.
I would also keep Kesselring over Soderstrom. I think Soda's time in the system has come to an end. Maybe a team like Pittsburg that needs to start the teardown/rebuild process could use a guy like him or maybe he would be a good add in asset in a trade, IDK but he has fallen to 7th or 8th on the defensive depth list for AZ.

As painful as it is for Yotes fans to hear our own GM stated two years ago that the rebuild is going to be done the right way and not rushed like the last 4 failure attempts in a row. in 2022 he was projecting the compete window will open in the 25-26 season. Considering the talent in the prospect pool at present I think he was pretty close to right on the money. Still think there are several players that are going to be looking for homes that will help the franchise take another step forward again next year.

Still an undervalue for Hayton. He is an excellent 3rd line center that is very strong in the faceoff circle.
A fringe fourth liner and a 2nd are not enough. I don't think AZ wants to trade Hayton so any offer would need to be an overpay.

Since everyone wants to redraft 2023
Nice add on the goalies. They are always a wild card but both Fowler and Hrabal look legit. Hrabal should have gone in the 1st round on just his pre-draft numbers. With his draft +1 included he is projecting extremely well. (Vested Bias) After the draft I have paid close attention to him and am incredibly impressed. I have a feeling in 5-6 years the redrafts will have him top 20 if not top 10. AZ might have pulled a 2017 Dallas quality draft out of 2023, Top Pair D, 1st line forward, #1 goalie!!

AZ would need more that a late 1st for Crouse. He is the type of player any team would spend to acquire immediately after parting with.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Yeah, except Simashev is playing against men in the 2nd best league in the world and his defense is so good he's elevating a less talented team into the title race with the SKAs and CSKAs. Plus, he's already a fully formed physical beast who will probably going to be one of those Russians who actually looks better in North America than he does at home.
Yeah, ASP is doing great for his club team, but he was severely outshined by at least three if not four of his WJC teammates and his physical toolbox can't touch Simashev's. I wouldn't have him ahead of Willander, but we shall see. I suspect Yzerman will want to get ASP over sooner rather than later. He's not big on small Dmen, so it may be an interesting thing to watch if he gets in a trading mood. I haven't heard anything, it just kinda makes sense to ponder.</div></div>
Thank you! KHL Hockey is crazy good and so many North American fans never bother watching a single game. Being able to elevate in the KHL is incredibly hard. Doing it as a 19yo is damn near monumental. But has been amazing this year as well. Over 20 points in the KHL as a 19yo while getting 4th line minutes should be eye opening. If AZ can manage to pull their front office together this pair of players is going to be something special to watch.

If it is a horse trade then it would have to be a high profit horse trade. AZ has no need or desire to trade one of their tendies. OTT should not want to make a trade like this but...

Trade out Dellandria and White with Bourque and Stranges and this becomes high probability trade. Would also be OK with reducing Hakanpaa and Faska from the deal but they are probably in it for cap and or roster spaces so, mehh.

Most would naysay but I would seriously consider this deal.
Does anybody know if Cambell would need to pass through waivers again after a trade or if at this point, he could be sent down immediately if that was the decision?

Buying Low on Hayton Start getting younger
Hayton is an ideal 3rd line center. There is no need for AZ to trade him or any desire to from the management team. He is being required to play up in the lineup out of a scarcity issue but with Cooley emerging as a top six center and Geekie just a year behind, also a top six center keeping Hayton makes sense for AZ.
Hell, who knows, AZ might just get lottery luck for the 1st time in franchise history and move up and get Celibrini. That would solidify Hayton in his ideal role on the team.

Trying something different
Why not go hard at AZ for both Dumba and Bjugstad? it will cost because AZ does not want to part with Bjugstad but the two players fill the need and don't break the cap. Boogy has 1 more year on his contract so there is that to consider.
Same overall package just add Bjugstad and the COL 24 1st. gives the needed cap relief an extra year of a quality middle six center and the minute munching, right shot, toughness on the blue line that Colorado is in need of.
Breakdown
Dumba & Bjugstad = COL 24 1st and Olausson
Johansen 8MM cap relief = 25 3rd
Dumba and Bjugstad / for/ 24 1st, 25 3rd, Olausson, and Johansen

Don’t see either team wanting that Schmaltz trade. Honestly the Caps would be a fantastic fit for Schmaltz but not the Wings.
Dumba isn’t worth a 1st but Toronto might be willing to do the NYI 3rd and Peksa for him.

As much as there is a fan connection to Schmaltz and it is known in AZ fandom that Keller likes playing with Schmaltz this is a deal that AZ would need to consider if offered. I think there would be a counteroffer for an additional piece, like Norlinder or Trudeau, but this is a decent starting point for an offer.

Detroit is VERY likely to be in the playoffs. What about Dumba 50% retained and someone like O'Brian as a depth forward for the 24 1st.
A late first for the defensemen that Detroit really needs and a tough as nails O'B to soak up bullets in the playoffs as a depth insert guy.

Done deal! A late 1st would be a great add for trading up into the top 20 in the 2024 draft. There is excellent talent in this years draft and if AZ can pick two it would be ideal.

- Pre-set 3-year extension in AZ at 4.125AAV
- Waive the NMC and no option for another
- Remove Geekie
- Downgrade that 2024 1st to a late 2024 2nd
and you have a deal.

Dumba is Dumba, gets caught behind his man from time to time but can score from the blueline, but EVERYONE on the opposing team keeps an eye on him when he is on the ice. Dumba can and will layout a player with a massive hit virtually every game. More of a disrupter.
