Massive change - AM Willy stay
HARD PASS from Utah/Az. Gunther is already showing star growth and Utah needs to keep their eyes to the future. Marner would be a decent name to bring in but what Utah should focus on is a first line center and not another set-up man winger. There may be a deal to be made but it would be for more of a Bjugstad/Crouse player trade and not one of the young studs.

Johnny T. has a bonus heavy contract. After the bonus is paid he only costs around league min for the rest of the year in real dollars. Cap space is not an issue in Utah/AZ. The cap retention is not the value add you may think.
I see no reason for GMBA to give up a quality goaltender and a decent third line forward for (checks notes) a decent third line forward...

Logical offseason
I get the premise of the ACGM team here. I am not sure if this is a good path for Utah/AZ. Both players have the skill but worry me as people you want as face of the franchise types.
Not sure Marner would "fit" in Utah. He has shown significant ego over the years that I think would get in the way. He has also shown that he will pout and throw fits and that is not conductive as a face of the franchise.
Zegras is a very interesting, super high skilled player. I question if he is mentally tough enough for the NHL or if he has the drive to relentlessly train that is critical for sustained high level success. He could fizzle and be a drain on a franchise that cannot afford one.

Dubas restocks the organization and still competes
Utah/AZ should make that trade. Graves would be a good fit in the Utah/AZ blueline and Valimaki's spot is already under challenge from guys like Kolyachonok and Szuber that are ready to make the jump to the NHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GeneralLandro</b></div><div>I want McBain too — love him as a 4C</div></div>
McBain is a hell of a role player and a damn-near custom built NHL 4th line center. That said I could see him being part of a trade for a high skill, high risk player like Zegras. that trade could not include the 2024 1st though. this is the last of the planned years targeting high end players through the draft on GMBAs rebuild timeline. I expect he will trade for another pick. Pretty sure Washington would be willing to part with 16OA for a setup man for Ovi.
I could see something like McBain, 2025 1st and a B+ prospect like Soderstrom or Kellman for Zegras being a good starting point for a trade.

Numb but still here, still supporting the team that GM Bill Armstrong has built.
Gunther is going to be special, I honestly think he is another Nylander. Utah should not add him to any deal, especially for Zegras. I want Zegras to succeed, he has the skill but I have suspicions on if he has the mental toughness and will to relentlessly train.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Imagine874859</b></div><div>Would you guys be interested in something like Jarry and Graves for Valimaki and picks?</div></div>
I think that Jarry and Vejmelka are on about equal footing these days, mid 1B tendies. Jarry's best days between the pipes are behind him and he has already lost some of his explosiveness. Jarry would be a step in the wrong direction for Utah IMO.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Birtle34</b></div><div>Weber to ltir should gain you cap, possibly time to move on from vejimelka, possibly Hayton also. Could be a place to bargain shop a goalie with potential to pair with ingram possibly one of the better bargains in the league. Geekie coming that may stay in the middle so I would possibly swing a little higher than McCann for 1c with the assets that you have. Some cap issue teams out there that may drop someone nice to you to alleviate the cap issues. Probably busiest team in draft and July 1</div></div>
Geekie needs a year or two in the AHL to get used to the pro game. Hayton fills the 3rd line center role while he develops. Agreed that there is a goalie need but Ingram/Vejmelka has consistently been above average goaltending for the NHL. Having a star tendie is important but not as critical as it was 10years ago.

GM Bill Armstrong's timeline was stated in 2020 when he took the job. He was going to do a full teardown to the studs and that his expectation to emerger as a competitive team is the 25-26 season. Judging the progress he has made since he took over from that abject failure, boy blunder, John Chayka, he is damn near perfectly on track to deliver with a sustainable future. This ACGM is my best attempt to take into account the real GMs methods and timeline expectations.

Lindgren is not worth even a fraction of that trade valuation.
Expiring contract on a middle of the road 2nd line pairing LD is worth a 3rd, maybe a 2nd.

Well, this is an option. One I hope never gets implemented. I am guessing you haven't watched any Yotes games this season.
Almost all of your contract offerings are off the mark by either/both AAV and term.
Reinhart would be a terrible add, his production would dramatically decrease, and his cost would cripple the rebuild that is actually progressing as expected, even with the crap lottery luck AZ always gets.
Forbert is just a body at this point, so unneeded.
Ned is already worse than either existing option in net.
The only add that actually has any merit is Hanifin and I would rather spend that money on an experienced RHD like Montour,

Graves is an interesting one to me. His cap hit with 50% retention would be an underpay for a good 2nd pair guy. The 5 years is the ?? but I don't think any decline will create an overpay at 2.25MM. Buyout would not be very detrimental either, if push comes to shove. I think his big body disrupter style of play would fit really well in AZ. I think the real issue for Graves is the rush generating system in PIT, he just does not fit.

If that Washington pick is somewhere like 14 or 15 I’m doing it, if not I’m finding someone else who’d be in that range who’s interested in that package.</div></div>
I think the real struggle in PIT is usage not player. Graves has been brutal in PIT but he is still a good 2nd pair D, worth a 2nd without retention. With retention there is need to add maybe a 4th but a 3rd should seal a deal.

IDK if it would be his choice. Dubas can be cutthroat and if there is an opportunity to move into the future instead of another couple years of Crosby he could well make the choice to not resign him and let him go to market. End of the day it really wouldn't matter for Sid's legacy. He will be retired as a Penguin and will be raised to the roof there.
A couple years getting a ****ton of cash to help with league stability is something I could see Sid doing. He is a good person as well as a good player.

More about the PR stunt then the actual value that Crosby would bring. Getting butts in the seats with a legend so the casuals can see the extreme skill on display from the rest of the team.
AZ needs someone that can be put in front of the cameras and wow the crowds. The only one that has the potential of becoming a "voice" of the franchise is Geekie and he is not likely to be a face of the franchise to go along with it.

Values are right for the AZ trade but I don't see either team wanting to make the trade. Skinner is doing well in BUF and Rosen is probably going to be something soon. Joker is ...Joker.
Crouse is a top six power forward. Pretty sure he has been playing hurt for the last 20 games or so. Fully healthy he was hitting 30 goals this year. That is the type of player you start looking for the second you trade. No need to trade. Lutz is an interesting prospect. Kid will be something someday, I would rather trade him then when the return value is high.
