Goalie Swap
With how well Bob is playing right now, don't see any way Florida moves him with retention for a package like that.
Regardless though, asking a team to retain 3+ mil for 3 years is a huge ask and I highly doubt a team trying to win like Florida would do that period.

The way I read it, you're also getting Jiricek at 6OA (But, it realllllly wouldn't surprise me if both he and Nemec are gone to Philly/Seattle...)

JvR trade
While it won't be entirely accurate, I think some worthwhile consideration should be put into comparing the Marc Staal dump when referencing a similar case for JVR.
Forget the "real dollars owed". Staal was dumped for cap space, and JvR - in this case - would be as well. Philadelphia is not a cash-poor team, and neither are the Rangers and/or Red Wings.
1. Staal's hit was $5.7M
2. New York gave up *approximately* the 49th pick of the 2021 draft to free up that specific hit with nothing in return.
3. Considering term and his actual higher hit, JvR costs about 3.7 times what Staal does
I think it's important to recognize that JvR is still a much more useful player than Staal was, and is expected to be so for the upcoming season. This is going to influence how much it costs PHI to dump JVR, and in order to figure out how much that should influence this trade, I'll turn to WAR, which suggests that JvR is 2.7 times more valuable than Staal (the difference in their WAR).
This leads me to believe that if Philly wants no money coming back at all, that they should be looking to pay about 1.4 times the cost that NYR paid to dump Staal (3.7/2.7).
In terms of draft pick value, pick 49 currently has a value of 4.48, which means PHI would need to find a sum value of 6.14 in order to facilitate this trade. This value coincides with the value of the #31 pick.
The value of the PHI 2020 1st is 13.01, and Wood's WAR has a value of -0.1. New Jersey in this case is asking for more than twice what it should take to acquire JvR.
What I think would make more sense for both sides is the 2020 PHI 2nd (value of 4.41) and a prospect along the lines of Matthew Strome. New Jersey is acquiring the higher hit, but are acquiring the better player and assets that fuel their retool. Philadelphia doesn't give up the farm.

I don't see them moving that 1st rounder to get rid of Turris. The prospect pool is so thin already, and Poile has emphasized the team's need to get younger. We need to add a future top talent with that pick.

Yikes man. Comparing Peitrangelo to Stevens is a massive stretch. Just out of curiosity, did you watch the Devils in the 90s/00s? I’m curious what you think makes their games so similar.
Agreed with above about giving a 30 year old a 7/8 year deal. No thanks.
Sami needs to play 12 regular season games or 70% of the playoff games. No guarantee!
I love the optimism here! We need more of this.

Dude even trading for rights, It's still only 7 years only St Louis can offer Pietrangelo 8 years the rest 7 years. Acquiring his rights only means you can negotiate a deal sooner.

VAN ARI Pick Scenario and Cap Dumps
I'm interested in that VAN cap situation. As a Devil fan, I would love to make that deal, I feel like DET does it for slightly cheaper or gives up a bit to get that 1st round pick.
Whether VAN gives up the 1st in 2020 or 2021, it doesn't matter.
Goligoski has more value than it would be seen as a toxic deal from ARI. Some team would pay for him. Likely would have to take on Grabner as a toxic deal to bring the cost down to something ARI is giving away.

TBL Erik Karlsson Trade
I think the framework is there for a pretty solid deal that could help all sides. I'm not sure that Tampa would want to give up Point, Palat, and a 1st (obviously dumping Callahan is a good thing), but it's close. Good idea.

TBL Erik Karlsson Trade
Tampa says no without a second thought. Maybe Yzerman gives up Sergachev for Karlsson, but there's no way he would move Point, much less Point and Palat. Those are their two most defensively responsible forwards who can shut down other teams' top lines, and the Lightning desperately need that. Karlsson is more offense-oriented, and the last thing Tampa needs right now is to sacrifice defense to improve offense. They have Stamkos, Kucherov, Point, Johnson, and Gourde all scoring 20 goals (Palat likely would have too without the injury), and lead the League in goals for last season. Meanwhile, they were only average in goals against (which isn't good if you're contending for a Cup and have a goalie who was nominated for the Vezina).
