Marner Trade Ideas Read Description
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boomer125</b></div><div>To be completely honest if hypothetically the Leafs were to move Marner I would think they would rather pull in some serious draft capital and then use the cap space to sign a free agent (eg Taylor Hall) extend Rielly and use that draft Capitol to acquire ELC or end of ELC talent</div></div>
I’m ready to move on from Morgan but agreed the best Marner trade is creating cap space

Dubas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>faulkmydzingel</b></div><div>I agree with everything you have stated here Barbs. Dubas built an excellent team. Running into a hot goalie is a reality of the playoffs. If anything the Habs should fire MB for not putting a better team in front of the best goaltender. I don't care what anyone says, Carey has proven time and again that he is the best. I feel sorry for the guy that he has been wasted with no complete team in front of him.
Watching the possession game between the Leafs and Habs proves the Leafs have a good team. But when the only thing getting by Carey is random deflections you really don't have a chance.
I think Campbell has played solid. But once again the Leafs are in a situation where they don't have a goaltender who is going to steal them a game. Now it doesn't have to be a goaltender like Price who steals 3 (maybe 4 tonight). But one game here or there would be nice.</div></div>
Campbell did steal game 2, Leafs where out shot something like 15-2 in the 3rd. He has played amazing all series long, the only thing that I think he needs to work is handling the puck. When MTL dumps in it he doesn’t look super comfortable playing the puck and when he does MTL fwds get in hard on the Leafs D to cause turnovers.
But completely agree this has nothing to do with Dubas and everything to do with the Leafs stars.
Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner have scored one goal on a combined 59 shots in the series.
That’s a 1.7 shooting percentage.
During the regular season, they scored 61 goals on a combined 378 shots, or 16.1 percent.

Leafs next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>Any goalie can get hot for 8 games. You can ignore Buffalo Rochester and just look at the 7 years of his career before a hot few weeks</div></div>
All good, agree to disagree. IMO he is a quality backup that the Leafs could get and would make a nice addition.
He was an AHL All-Star in the 2019-20 season, which saw him post a .921 save percentage. I think he could be worth a gamble.

Leafs next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>You're judging a guy on literally 8 games of his career at age 25
Also in 8 games in the AHL this year he had a save percentage below 0.884 and a high 3s goals against average.
His career NHL SV percentage is 0.896 and a GAA of 4.67
His career AHL save percentage is 0.905 and ECHL 0.909
For comparison
Hutch has a career 0.920 in both the AHL and ECHL and a 0.906 SV percentage in the NHL and 2.77 GAA and none of us want him</div></div>
I guess for me it’s hard to take anyone’s numbers too seriously having played for Rochester or Buffalo. Once he got to Colorado and played in front of a great defence and system, something the Leafs have, he put up really good numbers. And Dubnyk had the same opportunity to play in front of that defence and put up terrible numbers. So to my point I believe there is a quality backup there that can play every 5 days.
But if you want to go the veteran route I’m cool with signing Elliott, Reimer, or Halak if they come in under 2mil. Doesn’t make sense to pay a backup to Campbell anymore to sit on the bench.

I think Johansson (2.06 .913%) would be the perfect backup. He’s young (25) enough to grow with the team with the team and doesn’t have to be a #1. Campbell has proved he is the #1 goalie for the next few years IMO.
As for 3C plenty of options I’d like

Young Value additions
If you want to add young value additions, look at TBL. Boris Katchouk, Taylor Raddysh, or Ross Colton. All would be very tough for TB to match if you look at signing them right at 1.4mil when no compensation is required.

Game 6 Lines WITHOUT SANDIN
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>faulkmydzingel</b></div><div>I don't know if scratching is required. But I am quite happy that this game was a wake up for rabid leaf "fans" who are trying to dump Rielly all the time and replace him with Sandin next season. The kid has potential, but let's stop planning the parade around him. I constantly see fans on here that have some fascination that every player on another team or in the farm is better than what is currently being played. It is the same as those projecting Robertson to be the next 40 goal scorer. Maybe he has the potential. But at this point I sure hope Brooks get's good playing time in 2021-2022 over Robertson.</div></div>
Well personally I think this narrative that Leaf fans want to just dump Rielly cause they think he is better is stupid. The reason Leaf fans have Rielly being traded is in a flat cap world the possibility of resigning Hyman next year and now with Campbell playing lights out, resigning Rielly becomes almost impossible. So whether it happens in the offseason or at the TDL next year keeping him in the fold just doesn’t make sense. And with all the praise Rielly gets for his offence, Muzzin leads all Leaf defenceman in 5v5 scoring in the last two years. If the Leafs roll out something like:
Muzzin Holl
Sandin Brodie
Dermott(unless Seattle takes him)/Place Holder Bogosian
Leafs will be fine

Two changes for Game 6
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Barilko14</b></div><div>Would be nice if Foligno was good to go.
I'm thinking Dermott gets in tomorrow.
With Foligno I'd go
Hyman-AM34-Marner (hyman starting to look healthier now, hoping this trio has break-out game)
Foligno-Kerfoot-Nylander (Galch has been fine, but I think this trio would be a little more def reliable, and still provide some offence)
Soup-Engvall-Simmonds (if it ain't broke)
Galch-Thornton-Spezza (Galch provides more speed and creativity with these two, when Simmonds has been here they have not done much. If these 3 looked good, this could be the 4th line for awhile)</div></div>
Good call with Foligno up with Kerfoot and Nylander. He never really found any chemistry with JT and Willy but maybe with Kerfoot in the middle could be different. Agree with changing up the 4th line. They got killed last night, adding Galchenyuk could definitely add some needed scoring punch with Thornton and Spezza.

I'm on the fence about Sandin, I guess either way I trust Keefe's decision.</div></div>
Completely agree, could not care less what the lines look like I trust Keefe will put the best lineup possible out there.

If we do not succeed
I will also agree that resigning Rielly will not be possible if Sandin continues to progress and Campbell does not fall off a cliff. Because signing all three plus adding on Hyman's contract will make things extremely tight against the cap, especially since it is been reported to only go up by 1 mil in the next two years.
But trading Rielly for picks to only flip for Domi is not the answer. At least wait another year till he is a FA then go after him. He has had two terrible years, no way he is worth the picks right now. Needs to show he is back to his old game first.
If/when the Leafs trade Morgan it should be for an player that is still on his ELC that can help right away, a B prospect, and a pick. Or a straight up 1 for 1 deal. IMO

Really, I am very jealous of the Panthers D prospects:
Gildon (looks like a stud)
Kiersted
Kolyachonok
Ludvig
Kinnunen (could be a steal of a 7th rounder)
Priskie (who I would love to get on the Leafs)
Juulsen (needs to stay healthy but so much potential)
You guys are fine IMO

IMO the Panthers are right there to being a contending team. If there is a trade out there to bring in a player that can help them right now, could be the best course of action instead of waiting two years for the prospect.
But if they keep the pick and Bolduc or L’heureux are still there, that would be my picks.

I have to agree, if I’m putting the Flyers troubles it’s on Chuck Fletcher. Hextall was building a really good team there and didn’t get to finish the job. He turned there prospect pool around. Him and Francis (CAR) got the shaft for teams they built
