Even if Matthews is back for game 6 you've gotta leave the Bert - Domi - Marner line together.

This might be the unpopular opinion, but I feel like trading Marner <em>now</em> if the Leafs lose is kinda silly. Like I'm as frustrated as anyone with him, but the return will not be good and I know there's thirst for change in the core 4, but Tavares, who is the weakest link, has one year left... the change will come.
Maybe just settle for a new coach this offseason

Not surprised. Back to back game where your top 3 D played 35 mins each due to an injury and having 3 rookies dressed will do that to yah</div></div>
Anything for Cowan?

Going "all in" in FA is incredibly dumb. An unbelievable amount of bad money is gifted to mid players who don't deserve it and BT is one of the worst offenders. There's actually a pretty solid field of guys who fill needs for us this year. He needs to not get stuck in a bidding war for who he decides is "our guy" but rather submit fair offers to the lot and see who takes.

Sammy should never again see the crease for the Leafs. Doesn't matter how Woll does. 20+ games if the same thing from Sammy seals it all</div></div>
I mean, 3 of the last 8 conference finalists have had a 3GAA or worse (4 if we drop it to 2.9). It's not ideal, but... It's certainly not insurmountable.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div><strong>Babcock should be no where near a hockey rink with his off ice creepy antics and 1950's style especially with the stories that came out his late DET dayz. </strong>
I would argue for the blues the main issue was management not knowing how to replace the guys they lost/traded away even the fans felt the same when he was let go. Like letting Pietrangelo walk because you extended Faulk who yah traded for was a what yah doing moment. Plus Binnington did fall off the face of the earth for a few years before somewhat resurging. I remember that bubble team and they could not buy a save from either guy.
He's a guy I would not mind as maybe he can whip these boyz into shape and turn them into men. Make them play like they want it especially in playoffs.
Cause yea other than him options be Boudreau (pls no), Evason, Gallant, Woodcroft, McLellan, Smith, Lambert
Maybe they can steal Brid'Amour as CAR apparently are hesitating to pay him but yea its gonna be interesting.
But of all the resume's out there Berube's is the best right now.
Now that could change if Sullivan and the Penguins decide to part ways but idk if that happens</div></div>
It was very clearly sarcasm

Babcock's system won Detroit a cup, let's bring him back.
You're giving Berube way too much credit. STL won the Cup on a miracle run. Huge PDO bender. They weren't some dominant team. And since then they've had about as much playoff success as the Leafs and even missed out last year. Got himself fired this season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Who under performed under Babcock? The last time we lost to Boston in 7, we had a 3-2 series lead and we're down a goal in the 3rd period of game 6 and he played Matthews something like 3 minutes in the 3rd while playing Marleau 11 minutes. Babcock was a bad coach who cost the team and Keefe is no better. He played Sammy these playoffs, there are some (me probably more than any on here) who absolutely knew he was going to have bad games cost us. (Game 1 and 3 are as much on him as anyone else). He never adjusts anything, he gets out coached all the time. It's just dumb, Keefe has to go.</div></div>
The big 3 underperformed in the playoffs under Babcock. 41 points in 60 combined games played between them.
You're also <em>way</em> off on your TOI stat. Matthews played nearly 9 minutes in the 3rd, Marleau 6.

Probably. Has he done anything for this organization to warrant staying around? Not even remotely. The best thing he did was replace Mike Babcock. You literally couldn't ask for a better situation to come into, especially seeing as though Babcock set the bar so damn low.</div></div>
Like I said, I agree it's time for him to go. The results when it matters just haven't been there and every coach has a shelf life.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NorthernLeafsFan05</b></div><div>Also, leave it to Keefe to not adjust until we've already dug ourselves a ginormous hole. The Leafs aren't coming back from a 3 - 1 deficit against the Bruins.
We say this every offseason, but it's more true now than it ever has been; change <strong><em>needs</em></strong> to come. I cannot stand the thought of having to watch another season of Sheldon Keefe hockey, or the Guy Boucher Powerplay, or the Mike Van Ryn Man-on-Man defensive structure. I don't want to see a single familiar face behind the bench next season. I also don't want to see Samsonov between the pipes, he's too inconsistent and the lows are far too low with him.
It's also startling that the Leafs would ever consider trading Marner. This UFA crop is super weak and that money we'd be saving wouldn't be put to great use. Plus, it's Mitch Marner we are talking about. He's our 2nd best player and a crucial part of this team. You want to know why he doesn't show up in the playoffs? Because Keefes system is dog s***. That's the exact same reason why the other big guys also disappear in the playoffs.
All of this being said, we won't see changes this offseason. Keefe will be the headcoach next season, and the roster will probably be IDENTICAL, just without Bertuzzi and a new RHD.
This team could be so good but we are wasting our contention window by employing a bunch of bumbling idiots to run the show behind the bench. Our blueline contributes next to nothing offensively and also doesn't DEFEND. Sick of this same old song and dance.</div></div>
I think Keefe is a good coach, tbh, and we've seen the players underperform under two different coaches now so I don't think it's fair to put their shortcomings on his shoulders, but yeah he needs to go. It's just time.

They wouldn't be looking for depth with that money, they'd be searching all avenues to find a better, or at least comparable 2C.
