Flames Decline. Conroy should be able to find a far better return for Markstrom than that
Would like to see Kastelic back playing in Calgary though. Any interest in swapping Walker Duehr for him!?

Yeah, that’s just not happening in any world
I like Graves, but we’re not retaining on Huberdeau and will continue to find him better chemistry. He had a very good 2024 for the Flames

What Id do
I might do that, rather have Right Shot Jarnkrok as 4C and PK Specialist than have Rooney or Duehr on the Roster.
He’d be an expensive, but good Centre for 4th line Wingers such as Pelletier, Coronato, Klapka. Schwindt, Greer & Hunt, till they proved themselves and we move on from one, two or 3 of our current Top-9 Wingers

If Sharangovich wants to leave
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>I personally like Calgary a lot. But I'm sure life as a pro hockey player is quite different. Higher taxes and zero privacy probably do make it unpleasant relative to other US market options.</div></div>
Not sure what the issue is. Likely they and/or their wives/girlfriends want to be in better climates where they can drive lambos and where swimsuits daily or it’s the old arena, dressing room and facilities or they don’t like or agree with the ownership/management situation. Sutter’s gone, so can’t use that as an excuse anymore lol
Taxes are no higher in Calgary than New York or California, but yeah, less privacy in Canadian markets for sure. We love our hockey and know our players

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>Seems like many players prefer to not play in Calgary. Lindholm turned down a fortune that he'll never see again to get out.</div></div>
Yeah, we’ve been ridding ourselves of players who are no longer interested in being Flames, but Markstrom is probably the last guy left wanting out…
Lindholm gambled on himself and lost, good riddance to him. Flames are building a new arena and the Team is content again, with Kadri & Weegar outwardly communicating their desire to stay & win in CGY, so the times are a changing and Calgary is quickly becoming a much more desirable City to play in

These are all horrible for CGY except for the Markstrom Trade which wouldn’t happen without retention on Marky and we’d want NJD’s 2024 Pick

Why would Sharangovich want to leave CGY where he gets ample TOI and PP opportunities!?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bast</b></div><div>Sure, but why are we doing PIT favors and trading for a guy that's $750k-$1M overpaid for what he brings, especially on a long contract?
I'd rather trade FC for Orlov, so we could flip him at the deadline.</div></div>
I’m gonna go with the Younger Canadian Vet with Term who we can build around over the Older Orlov that will likely cost assets to acquire and has almost a 75% greater Cap Hit
Orlov has the Russian connection to some of our Players, but Graves seems more of a Flames type player to me
$4.5mil/yr is cheap for the minutes Graves can eat and we have a tough time getting players to sign in CGY, so again, I like that he comes with term and he’s juat entering his prime compared to Orlov who is more likely to fall off going forward as he’ll be 33 come July

I’d love to have Ryan Graves. He comes with Term and $4.5mil/yr isn’t a bad Cap Hit imo
Much rather have Graves @ $4.5mil/yr than Zadorov @ $3.75mil/yr as a comparison

Couple big trades and UFA signings
Don’t mind most of your signings (other than Necas, Dillon and Kylington who is still a big risk and didn’t have a good enough return to justify a raise, he should be at $1.25mil/yr, like Miromanov imo)
Rather pursue the Younger Ryan Graves if PIT wants to dump him and we go LD shopping
Don’t like any of those Trades, especially the CAR Trade. KK sucks

Duclair and Youth
That’s a lot for Pelletier (who hasn’t done much in the NHL yet), Kylington (who’s still a gamble and coming off a down year compared to the one that got him his current contract) and Wolf (who deserves between $1-2mil/yr, but no more just yet)
I’d like to see if Anthony Duclair is interested in playing with CGY and don’t mind Shattenkirk, but highly doubt he comes to play in CGY. I like the idea of bringing Chris Tanev back, otherwise there’s a lot of RD’a that’ll be available in the off-season should we want to add. That said, both Miromanov & Pachal played well for us too

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gmonwy</b></div><div>Signing Reinhart will probably become another Huberdeau. No thanks</div></div>
Agreed, Reinhart won’t replicate his FLA success in CGY without a SuperStar Centre like Barkov and his supporting cast
Better to bolster the Defence with Size, Strength, Experience and Leadership and go Young with the Forward group and find/develop our own Reinhart, if we don’t have them as part of the organization already

This Team Would Be Decent IMO
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>Still missing super star + star talent on forward. I suspect they still miss the playoffs. D Group looks nice though.</div></div>
Could acquire that along the way, but Kadri, Huberdeau & Kuzmenko have proven they can be 0.80-1.00PPG Players in CGY, they just need to do so consistently
Zary’s up & coming and Sharangovich started slow, yet turned it on, but yeah, Mang, Backlund & Coleman are typically 0.50-0.67PPG Players, so we definitely would need Mang to get back above that, Coleman to repeat that and then Duclair, Pelletier, Coronato or Pospisil to break out as Flames Players to consider this Team a “Contender”
If we don’t have a “SuperStar”, all I can go with is Good Defence, Hope for the above to happen and Pray for Hot Goaltending
Duclair’s a gamble, but his Speed, Grit & Tenacity still intrigue me. He broke out in Tampa Bay, so he’s still got his offensive instincts & skill intact

Bye Graves
I think Graves would be a good fit on the Flames personally
He brings Good Size & Grit, Decent Toughness, Kills Penalties, Eats Minutes and Contributes Offensively. He also comes with term that really isn’t that expensive either

2024 starting lineup
Pass on both Brodie & Dumba unless they come for super cheap to play 3RD and Kill Penalties, like $1.5mil/yr cheap
Wolf will likely get more and I’m of the opinion Kylington should only get what Miromanov just got = $1.25mil/yr. I like Kylington and hope he stays healthy, but he’s still too risky and hasn’t done enough to justify getting anywhere near the same contract he did after that one-off breakout season he’s had so far
I can’t see Markstrom being with the Flames to start next season and would like to see Greer come back. Rather have the Younger, Bigger and More Physical Ohktiuk & Solovyov back over Hanley too. If we could get a guy like Ryan Graves, he’d be an ideal Flame imo
I see at least one or two of Mangiapane, Kuzmenko, Coleman or Sharangovich moving on depending on how well they play, contract extension talks and how well Zary, Pospisil, Coronato & Pelletier play next season as well

I’m not opposed to giving Home Town Howden an opportunity in CGY, but I don’t see why we would have to part with assets to acquire him. He’d come for Future Considerations or very possibly VGK paying CGY something to take on his $1.9mil Cap Hit for the season instead

Right! Flames could use another Centre and Vegas has quite a few options that could be made available and/or perhaps Chandler Stephenson can be signed via Free Agency
