<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TotheNorth</b></div><div>There's no real C's available that are good, this scenario has them Keep Wheeler at C to fill that need, then replace Wheeler with a top 6 winger. It makes perfect sense really since Wheeler has actually already been playing as a #1C in Scheifeles absence. The depth D-man piece is another story and I agree with you...whatever keeps Chiarot out of the lineup will make me happy.</div></div>
Why does everyone think wheeler has been playing well at C? That line with him and the 2 kids have been not good at 5vs5 (jets least effective line). The lines sh% is super high but that will come down to earth.

Winnipeg True Cup Favorite
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>scarbrow21</b></div><div>Simmonds only has remainder of this year and next. PHI would be looking at this as a roster that just isn't good enough to win the cup as they barely squeak into the playoffs the last few years. It's a re-tool around Provorov/Patrick/their young core. They likely won't/can't re-sign Simmonds his next deal (Jets won't either) because of how much of a raise he'll be do. He's vastly outplayed his contract and will be looking to cash in on the next one so why not get younger and another 1st rounder. Vesalainen likely replaces Simmonds maybe not next year, but the year after that (I personally think he's going to be an excellent top 6 50+ point winger) and the other pieces can be used to keep building without having to completely rebuild. The metro is a tough division right now, and PHI if they were smart would try and push that window 2-4 years from now as PIT and WSH will begin to decline and if they play their cards right and stock young, top level talent now they might be able to become a true contender which, let's face it...right now they're not!</div></div>
Have you looked at Simmonds this year? He can't score or produce offense at 5vs5. Why would the jets pay that price for him? He has been regressing the last 3 seasons thats a player you stay away from.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TotheNorth</b></div><div>we have an insider among us!!! Tell me what's been offered from STL "MANAGEMENT" group for Hoffman????? I'd love to know what deal to match! I see "larkinisking" has changed his name and affiliation.
In any case you know nothing about what's actually been offered you're going off what fans of STL have hypothetically offered who have no authority. Also, every year there's deals that seem WAY undervalued that get done so to say you're getting better offers when the player hasn't been traded is asinine. The deal above is absolutely fair "market" value if you do your actual homework at trades that have been completed as opposed to purusing hypothetical deals on fan boards.</div></div>
Why would the jets go after the one position they are the deepest at in LD? Also that hurts the jets cap situation going forward and you are giving up a ton (3 1st round picks) to get a piece you don't need. If the jets need something its a depth dmen and a centerman.

Risto for Trouba Swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojme</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jbarre6</b></div><div>Literally every stat says that Trouba is better in his own zone and better than risto.</div></div>
Ah a statistical argument, my favorite. Have you ever seen either of them play? Also I'd like to see these statistics. Risto has some of the worst possession stats in the league, but you don't see us trying to trade him or send him down. These stats are also affected by the team as a whole and bylsma's system. He is a top tier dman for the future.</div></div>
People that use the argument that he still players in the NHL and plays big minutes is kind of bullshit unless you assume all NHL coaches are good but we know there has been a lot of bad ones over the years.

Risto for Trouba Swap
So I looked up rate stats for both at 5vs5
ones Trouba was better: g/60, a/60, p/60, sh/60, iCF/60, iSC/60, Takeaway/60, CA/60, FF/60, SA/60, SCA/60,HDCF/60
ones Risto was better: Giveaway/60, Def.ZoneFO/60
Risto was better on the PP Trouba was better on the PK. Considering how much more you play at 5vs5 seems pretty easy which one has been better. These are just results from the games the 2 players played. I want the player with the better results. Also zone starts, QofT and QofC wasn't much different as Trouba the last 40 games played the heavy mins for Winnipeg. Both teams weren't good defensively.

Opening Night Lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jimmyjets</b></div><div>Not bad but I don't think they gift Connor a top 6 spot. Since this is <em>opening night </em> lineup Perrault will be in that spot and Connor will likely be on the third line with Lowry and Armia. 4th line will be Mathias Copp Dano with Tanev and Hendricks in the press box. Petan and Sgarbossa to the Moose along with Roslovic and Lemeiux. Huthinson also to the Moose.</div></div>
If thats your bottom 6 jimmy jet the jets aren't a playoff team.Lowry and Armia are what they are good 4th line players yet you have them playing 3rd line and Dano can't carry Copp and Matthias (both guys don't drive play).

WPG Trade (AA, Trouba)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dtd_tank</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JuniorGM</b></div><div>So Jets are giving up their best dmen and the main piece coming back would be their 7-8th best forward? That makes no sense.</div></div>
Green replaces Trouba for this year at very little cost increase, and can be traded at deadline if WPG is outside the playoff bubble. Saarijarvi is arguably Detroit's top RHD prospect and will play on WPG's blue line in a year or two, but is admittedly not likely to have the same ceiling as Trouba.
Main piece coming back is AA. He can step right in at 3C or as a 2nd line winger. He's speedy and great on the PK.
Abdelkader is slightly better in career PPG than Matthias, with a worse contract. Detroit retains salary on him and offers the 2nd.</div></div>
So green (offensive dmen) replaces the jets best defensive dmen. Abdelkader is a bad contract (jets need caproom next 2 yrs) so thats a negative. Again where is AA playing in the jets top 6? he isn't. Also matthias was an elite Pker before last season but was horrible for the jets because PK is very systems based so likely AA won't have a good effect on the jets PK. I get people think Trouba is overratted but he is the hardest shaker to replace value wise on this jets team. Top pair dmen. Buff is older and likely a 2nd pair guy. Same with enstrom and myer is a 2nd pair guy. Only player that might be a top pair dmen next for the jets other than trouba is morrissey if he takes another set. Oh and the jets made it clear this off season that they are in win now mode so players being ready in a 1-2 wont interest them. Wings have nothing the jets would want for Trouba. not saying Wings have bad player just that they arent a fit for a trouba trade.

this deal is so bad for the jets. Thats tons of assets to give up for an older player that could regress at anytime not to mention the cap problems it creates. I don't see any up side for the jets.

I'd turn down Hamonic and 2x1st too. Hamonic just isn't in the same ballpark as Trouba.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Larkinisking</b></div><div>And Detroit's not claiming Hutchinson off of waivers, Not when Mrazek, Howard and Coreau will all be vying for playing time.</div></div>

All these Jet fans trading Trouba. Do jets fans realize how much better Trouba is then any other dmen on the team? We are talking almost Karlsson sens big. Buff is aging still very good offensively but defensively he is struggling. Myers when healthy is a capable #4 but thats about it. Morrissey could close the gap but he is still likely more a #2 dmen than #1. The jets just can't replace Trouba. Over pay to sign him or trade him for another dmen. Do not trade him for a forward. Jets don't have crosby or malkin they can't make that model work.

Cap crunch coming, but Ehlers and Morrissey are key to making it work long term
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>KPasty. Well there other options. After the ELCs are up a team has control of a player for 4 years. By extending the contract...a maximum of 8 years....well that's another 4 years of control....not eight.
Remember last summer when folks thought Trouba would get 6m...well he signed for 2.8m. And the Jets still have for two years contract after his contract. If teams start going crazy and think all their RFA HAVE to be signed for long term deals. Well you might have 8 guys making an average of 7m and the other 15 guys making 20m.</div></div>
First it was Trouba that didn't want the long term deal jets were willing to go up to 5.75mil a season on a long term deal. 2nd Trouba, Ehlers and morrissey are all creaper this summer then they will be next summer. Jets are a small market team and should risk signing them now. Likely could get Trouba for just over 6mil, Ehlers for over 6mil and morrissey around 4mil all on long term deals. If they keep they same career arc that will be great value in 1-2 yrs.

Lowry is a 4th line center you do not play 4th line center 3+mil. You don't play Little anything over what he is making he is in decline already and you don't not bridge Ehlers that will cost you big big money later. Also Bjustand is over paid why bring that on board. Th e fact you think Lowry is a 3rd line talent is an issue he isn`t at all he doesn`t drives no offense. Also Stanley is like the jets 6-7 best dmen prospect. He is big thats pretty much it.
