That’s why I didn’t put him in, I think day of rest just to see how everything feels would be good for him. But I know the kind of attitude he has so I can see him pushing to play. Whether coaches let him or not is the question but hopefully not.
And CBJ is no push over, couple bad games to start the season isn’t the end all. And Laine been out all season. His first game back against ARI so he’s still shaking off the rust. A Lineup with Laine, Johnny hockey and Johnson things can happen fast.
And i’m guessing Merzlikin will start, he’s also had a rough start but he’s better then his numbers this year so he could have a game anytime.
Especially with BOS playing last night and Krejci being out, this should be a good game, and good test for both teams

In all seriousness though, maybe they have a trade in the works for a young RHD.</div></div>

I would wonder if studs and dipietro will be part of other trades to come

Boston
That would be great if he would sign in FA, I see him extending with VAN or with whoever trades for him at TDL though.
I would be good with BOS picking him up at TDL, I’d say maybe something along the lines of move out Smith, move coyle to 3RW and put Bo at 3C. I know it’s kinda waste of talent but would be some championship depth and give C insurance through the playoffs in case one of Berg or Krech get injured.
I would really like BOS to hang onto their 23 1st rounder though, deep draft and a lot of talent will be left even in the later stages.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>xjoeyc23x</b></div><div>I think it'd be close. Subtract Smith, Nosek, Foligno, and trade Reilly with only one year left on his deal. Plus if the cap goes up next year.</div></div>
Possible ya sure, likely probably not. And depending on how much krejci and bergs bonuses are onto next years cap, and how much the cap actually goes up are big factors. If cap only goes up 1-2 million and bonus overages are 3+m then there’s definitely not enough room with current roster even with moving out Reilly
And then this is still just a horrible contract that I would not take on, I’d rather put a package together for horvat and extended him before taking Miller

Money doesn’t work next year with pasta extension. And BOS has no desire to pay Miller 8m until he’s 38, VAN hurt his value signing him to that deal

Horvat for Carlo
This doesn’t work for BOS. Top 4 RD on a great contract with lots of term remaining is not easy to come by currently. This this is more valuable then a 2C even with an extension.
And then there is the fact that BOS has no one really to replace Carlo with now or even coming down the pipeline really. So the cost to go acquire a replacement is going to out way the return here.
I like bo and would like to have him as a bruin but don’t see a scenario where this trade works.
Oh and Bo isn’t taking 6.5M on another team, doubtful he even goes that low to stay in VAN but possible I guess

LTIR is solving the bruins cap issues, though they probably still move a d man around december.</div></div>
Take out 4 waiver exempt players is 25 which is the 2.7M over, waive 3 players brings it down to 22 man and 500k or so under cap,
Possible to move a dman out also though to
Edit: sorry 3 waiver exempt and kinkaid

One or the other may end up on waivers, my guess is Boqvist, who is probably more experienced at center.
But it may not happen until after season starts if Nico starts season on IR.</div></div>
Ya I know Nico was going to reevaluated soon, saw that he said he felt good but that doesn’t mean anything. I figured either waiver exempt player or pick. I just wasn’t sure if NJ really needs any players, they’re pretty set in all positions really IMO

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swinny</b></div><div>I really believe that Allvin will be quite focused know keeping Horvat in the fold, especially given the Mikeyev signing (which I view as player signed to "replace" Miller).
What is the price on a 27-28 year old 2 way centre who pots 60 points a year? I think we look at Danault as a comparable. I would argue Horvat is better offensively, Danualt better defensively. So, does Horvat get $6 million? Given the leadership skills, he sees more. So, I say $7 million a year over 6 years is pretty ballpark. Am I off base? Let's see what Kadri signs for, as that would be comparable #2 really. I am not taking career years as a barometer of worth.
If the Horvat camp wants north of that $7 million, then a trade maybe eminent. Now, if this avenue is taken, a smart Allvin would allow for the ole "sign and trade" to maximize value. But, let's look at both scenarios.
Horvat as a pure rental should net a 1st and a bluechip project. I would use the Lehkonen deal as a comparable. Lehkonen is fantastic defensively, and has offensive game (40 points off the wing), and can play 17 minutes a night. This netted a 2nd and Justin Barron (albeit with some retention, a place Allvin would likely have to go). Horvat's defensive game is a notch below Lehkonen, but can produce more offensively and munch more minutes. So, given this, a 1st and a bluechip prospect should be the ask, at minimum. What that looks like would be team specific, but just to spitball a couple possibilities (not claiming these to be fits, but an idea of what a package would look like)......
Jersey: 1st and Zetterlund or Reilly Walsh
Ottawa: 1st and Greig
Boston: 1st and Lysell
If Allvin manages to negotiate a sign and trade, I would think a similar package would be in Play, with the inclusion of an NHL player to fill that roster spot - not anywhere as great as the Tkachuk deal, but a similar make up. (Again, not claiming fits here)
Boston: 1st, Lysell and a Jake Debrusk
Ottawa: 1st, Greig and Pinto
NYI: 1st, Hölmstrom and Nelson
Again, we see a downgrade in the package over Tkachuk (and we should), but the basic construct in a sign and trade should reamin.
That is my 50 cents.</div></div>
Thanks for the respectful, detailed response, that’s hard to find on here some days.
I was just curious because I havent heard much about him yet, although I don’t follow VAN super close, but most other next year FA’s I’ve heard are atleast are in talks or such. I would assume the outcome with Miller ( Traded or extended) would influence what takes place with Horvat. Salary is tight and would take some assets to clear space to retain both players but I’d say not impossible by any means. I would assume VAN would lean towards trading Miller, only because the higher return and the couple years extra age Miller has on Horvat. But I guess, we will have to wait and see what happens.
Thanks again
