<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swinny</b></div><div>I really believe that Allvin will be quite focused know keeping Horvat in the fold, especially given the Mikeyev signing (which I view as player signed to "replace" Miller).

What is the price on a 27-28 year old 2 way centre who pots 60 points a year? I think we look at Danault as a comparable. I would argue Horvat is better offensively, Danualt better defensively. So, does Horvat get $6 million? Given the leadership skills, he sees more. So, I say $7 million a year over 6 years is pretty ballpark. Am I off base? Let's see what Kadri signs for, as that would be comparable #2 really. I am not taking career years as a barometer of worth.

If the Horvat camp wants north of that $7 million, then a trade maybe eminent. Now, if this avenue is taken, a smart Allvin would allow for the ole "sign and trade" to maximize value. But, let's look at both scenarios.

Horvat as a pure rental should net a 1st and a bluechip project. I would use the Lehkonen deal as a comparable. Lehkonen is fantastic defensively, and has offensive game (40 points off the wing), and can play 17 minutes a night. This netted a 2nd and Justin Barron (albeit with some retention, a place Allvin would likely have to go). Horvat's defensive game is a notch below Lehkonen, but can produce more offensively and munch more minutes. So, given this, a 1st and a bluechip prospect should be the ask, at minimum. What that looks like would be team specific, but just to spitball a couple possibilities (not claiming these to be fits, but an idea of what a package would look like)......

Jersey: 1st and Zetterlund or Reilly Walsh

Ottawa: 1st and Greig

Boston: 1st and Lysell

If Allvin manages to negotiate a sign and trade, I would think a similar package would be in Play, with the inclusion of an NHL player to fill that roster spot - not anywhere as great as the Tkachuk deal, but a similar make up. (Again, not claiming fits here)

Boston: 1st, Lysell and a Jake Debrusk

Ottawa: 1st, Greig and Pinto

NYI: 1st, Hölmstrom and Nelson

Again, we see a downgrade in the package over Tkachuk (and we should), but the basic construct in a sign and trade should reamin.

That is my 50 cents.</div></div>

Thanks for the respectful, detailed response, that’s hard to find on here some days.

I was just curious because I havent heard much about him yet, although I don’t follow VAN super close, but most other next year FA’s I’ve heard are atleast are in talks or such. I would assume the outcome with Miller ( Traded or extended) would influence what takes place with Horvat. Salary is tight and would take some assets to clear space to retain both players but I’d say not impossible by any means. I would assume VAN would lean towards trading Miller, only because the higher return and the couple years extra age Miller has on Horvat. But I guess, we will have to wait and see what happens.

Thanks again
