Lol at gretzky being good at analyzing the game, you do remember he was one of the worst coaches in history right?

wow, all those guys who are not remotely known for being good at hockey analysis praised domi? incredible, maybe they can explain why he took two stupid as all get out penalties in game one to put the leafs in the hole or was day dreaming about pickles or something while marchand sauntered in 6 inches away from him and scored the game winner like he was alone with all the time in the world.

Marner is way way overrated imho...on the flip side the guy could use a change of scenery to reinvent himself...like Hyman, Kadri, Marchment, Joashua, etc have</div></div>
Marner has plenty of value and pretending otherwise is wish fullfilment. and of course marchand is cheaper, he wasnt even a 50 point player and didnt play defence when he signed his contract.
And none of these guys you mentioned re-invented themselves they just had weird development curves, except Kadri who is who he has always been he just stopped being a giant moron and getting himself suspended after doing it three playoffs in a row

a bad expensive 6th defender, a bad expensive back up and the rights to a middling 3rd liner and all the leafs need to add to a top line 2 way 90 point player is a 1st?

-Dewar/Kampf/Reaves have been a major positive sign so far, it seems that every single time they're on the ice something happens.
-I do like putting Rielly with McCabe but then that leaves you with a weaker bottom 4 so Idk
-I do agree Woll should start game 4 and Samsonov should never start a game in TOR again</div></div>
-Matthews and Marner have been a success for basically their entire career, domi riding matthews coat tails for less than a dozen games changes nothing, especially since domi has been a liability in two of the three playoff games so far
-Woll has been worse than Samsonov for like 2 months now and Samsonov has been the only reason the leafs were even in the past two games, the hate he is getting recently is rediculous.

No, that's not even close to true. Jarnkrok is as middle six winger as a middle six winger gets and he is fairly paid for it.
Gudbranson has literally been one of the worst defensive players in the entire league for 97% of his career and isnt worth 1/3 his contract

And for the rest of them, you are just ignoring what I say bc it makes you feel better and allows you to attack other guys...
And the would be like if Sammy had a .940 save% and Sway had a .950 save%, but that's not how it happened... Having a 6 vs 8 point night for 1/20 players on either side, but we are comparing an average goalie to an excellent goalie this far</div></div>
Swayman and bob have let in much worse goals than that this year, several even, and yes, we are comparing an average goalie to better ones, that is besides the point that samsonov was fine last night except on one goal. These things can both be true at the same time

Marners time as a Leaf is Over
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>1. In the Regular Season, fine, but this is the playoffs... Swayman was making those kinds of saves... Sammy wasn't
2. No, he wasn't, embarrassingly, tied for the most points on the team in the playoffs
3. Every team take penalties you know, no matter how bad their PK is... You can't be soft with Boston, but to not be soft, you're going to take penalties... Frankly, Marner and Holmberg have been brutal together on the PK (especially Marner, all of Boston's PP goals were scored with Marner on the ice thus far...). So it's not on Domi to do what he's being paid to do
4. Eye test shows Sammy was bad... And it 100% matters how well Swayman does, because that's who Sammy's being paid like and who's going h2h with Sammy</div></div>
1-These goals go in all the time, the best goalies in the world dont stop them in the playoffs and Swayman had at least two blow by him untouched that only didnt go in because they hit the post and one that he didnt get anything but the jersey in his armpit on.
2-When you are the primary issue on the game winning goal, you are the problem. When you take two dumb penalties that put your team down early, you are the problem
3-and when other teams players take dumb penalties, they are the reason that team is on the PK too, so they get that blame. Just like Domi, if this was a trip to stop a break away or something it wouldnt be near as damning as punching a guy in the head for no reason in a scurm
4-no, the eye test shows sammy was good. And It matters how swayman does, but you are really really convinced that because he was good samsonov must have been awful. that is not how things work.
if matthews had a 4 goal 2 assist game but Pastrnak had a 6 goal 2 assist game it doesnt mean matthews was bad.

Marners time as a Leaf is Over
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>1. Frederic goal+Marchand goal were bad
2. Keep hating on Domi all you want, he wasn't the problem with allowing a short side high goal int he playoffs
3. No he didn't, bc the PK was able to defend a PP... I'm fine with both penalties, it's on Sammy and the PK to defend it if you don't want to get bullied by BOS
4. He didn't, the eye test and the stats each say Sammy had a way lighter workload and couldn't get it done</div></div>
1-the Marchand goal was a perfectly placed laser because he had 90 years alone in prime shooting territory because Domi was playing with his belly button
2-He was quite obviously the problem
3-yeah, he did because he literally caused the penalty kill to be a thing. If your team is bad at killing penalties you shouldnt be incredibly stupid and take dumb penalties. So that is on Domi.
4-he did, eye test and stats show sammy had a fine game and again, just because swayman was better does not mean samsonov was bad.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>1. Yes it is... You know it, I know it, even Brad_Treliving knows it despite not being a stats guy
2. No, he didn't... If the Leafs didn't go 0 FOR 5 on the PP, they win... If Sammy saves the Frederic goal and the Marchand one, they win... If he could track the Debrusk goal, they win... The only fault I will give Domi in Game 3, is that he had b2b opportunities to give it to Matthews, all alone in the slot, with Swayman OOP, in game 1, he and the Leafs were sloppy, but they cared and got into it... That's what they needed in G2...
3. The PK was so awful, you are blaming Domi for their faults... Do you remember the stupid William Nylander penalty in Game 5 in 2022? I don't and you don't either until I brought it up... Why? Because The Leafs PK wasn't so bad that they would allow a PP goal against every 2nd penalty
4. No he didn't: https://www.espn.co.uk/nhl/game/_/gameId/401655553/bruins-maple-leafs... They are all perimeter, tips or goals... Now compare it to the Leafs, every chance was in front of the net... All stopped. That's 1/2 of the difference in this series</div></div>
1-yeah, it's not true at all, Sammy let in one bad goal and the rest were on the players
2-He literally allowed the winning goal to happen. The goal literally went in because he was dreaming about getting some better fitting fake teeth, it is 100% on him. the power play sucked but it did not let Marchand have all the time in the world to place a perfect shot from the circle.
3-the PK was awful and the leafs were put on the PK because domi made some terrible choices. If he doesnt take the stupid penalties then the bad PK doesnt have to play and those goals dont go in. Nylander got crucified for that penalty and here you are coddling Domi for doing it multiple times
4-yes, he did, and swayman being better doesnt change that

Jfresh literally just stans for Pool Party because he likes his funny faces as a cope as he wouldnt shut up about Puljujarvi's 'elite metrics' a few years a back despite everyone with a hockey IQ seeing that Jesse Puljujarvi had zero hockey iq like many of these metrics clowns.
What is Jesse Puljujarvi doing these days? helahthy scratch most night in Pittsburgh, 3rd or 4th team. Yeah he's doing great!</div></div>
Hyman was absolutly brutal in the playoffs for the leafs before he left and was coming off a knee injury at 29 years old, not to mention he never had more than 41 points in 6 seasons as a leaf. The fact that he turned into a superstar in edmonton is something no one expected, not even his biggest fans, he is literally defying all odds with what he is doing and good for him.
As far as what the analytics people think about him, well they've literally always loved him, Hyman was the very definition of an analytics darling during pretty much all his tenure as a leaf and pretending otherwise is just hilarious

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>Please, think about this and delete this comment...
1. a goalie needs to make stops, look at Swayman, he won his battles, Sammy did not. Sammy, in fact, allows 2 goals that never should have gone it... And debatably a 3rd one, Swayman stole that game and Sammy laid another egg
2. I'm assuming you are talking about 1 of Domi or Bert, both of them have more points than Mitch Marner while having 2-3x the effort and compete level needed in the playoffs, the penalties are fine as that's the result on playing on the edge
3. Nobody's taking "3 hilariously awful penalties in game one that bruied them, the most was Domi at 2, one ended in a 4v4... But stopping 24/29 shots did happen...
4. Samsonov was never in that much danger, most of the shots the Leafs allowed were perimeter shots and the 2 goals that went in... You can't fault whomever you want, but you need a save when you have a defensive breakdown twice a game...
5. The Leafs are lacking in playoff production, so why do you want to get rid of 2 guys actually helping in the playoffs... Brutal take...
If Sammy was as good as you made it seem, The Leafs win 2-0 as all 3 goals were poor puck management... But he wasn't</div></div>
1-lol no, that's very very incorrect
2-Im talking about Domi, and yes, he literally cost the leafs two games with or without those points.
3-oh no, domi took two very dumb penalties that cost the leafs dearly and not three, not exactly a great defense of him not costing the team
4-samsonov made like a dozen very difficult saves, if it wasnt for him it would have been a blow out before the game was half done
