Like Girard, but I think Ottawa will be looking for a bigger DFD to play the right side. I'm open to trading either Formenton or Brown this summer to get that, but the value here is so bad for Ottawa. Girard isn't worth Formenton, Brown and a 2nd. Kaut is worth next to nothing imo

Habs fans gotta stop trying to move an underachieving player on a bad contract for the 7th overall pick lmao. Anderson doesn't suck by any means and still holds positive value, but has no business being in as the main return for the 7th overall pick, especially with his contract and injury history. Sens aren't that desperate to shed Murray's contract right now

I would like my bottom wingers to be Connor Brown, Nick Paul, Alex Formenton and Mathieu Joseph.
That is Cup winning caliber bottom-6 wingers.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Rocket</b></div><div>Probably 8 milly for 7 or 8 years. On a 6 year deal probably closer to 9. </div></div>
This kills the Devils in 2026 when Mercer, Holtz, Luke Hughes and Gritsyuk (hopefully) are through their ELCs.
Gonna be one major cap casualty easily avoidable by not tying up 8m+ in an area Devils already are at their strongest.
Rather just have Cooley.

Minimal fix to the Goaltending
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hii</b></div><div>Fair enough, I would then replace Stralman with Hakanpaa and take out the third coming in from Edmonton.
Maybe you add a third coming back from Dallas to balance out the value.
So like:
To EDM:
Studenic
Tufte
3rd round pick
TO DAL:
Barrie
Benson
4th</div></div>
I like Studenic, but depending on what the rest of the RD market looks like this offseason, I'd probably accept it if I'm Dallas.

Josh Anderson is a 28 year old career 36 pt pace forward with significant injury history. He's got a remarkable physical skill set, but he lacks the ability to do enough with it to be an impact player. Wouldn't touch that contract with a 10 ft pole.

Value is fine for the Dallas trade, but you'd need to find a way to make the trade without including Hakanpaa. Dallas needs to add RD, not simply replace the ones on their roster. Adding Barrie isn't the worst idea for Dallas, but trading Hakanpaa for him still leaves Dallas with a roster gap on the right side of their blue line.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hii</b></div><div>I agree and I love the way Brown plays but where in the Sens long-term plans do you see a fit for Connor Brown?</div></div>
Absolutely, why not? To build a successful team, not all your players have to be under 26 years old...
Tampa Bay :
Steven Stamkos 31
Victor Hedman 31
Nikita Kucherov 28
Alex Killorn 32
Brayden Point 25
Ondrej Palat 30
Anthony Cirelli 24
Corey Perry 36
Nick Paul 26
Ross Colton 25
Mikhail Sergachev 23
Pat Maroon 33
Ryan McDonagh 32
Andrei Vasilevskiy 27
Connor Brown just turned 28 years old, is an excellent skater with flawless work-ethic and a non-stop motor. He actually plays the exact way the Sens want to play. Also, did you know it was the first time he got injured this season? He played all the Leafs/Sens 373 games from 2016-17 to 2020-
I would sign him 5 years x 5.0 AAV

Better Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hii</b></div><div>I just though of this but I could see this for the first half of the season:
Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Kuzmenko - Stutzle - Brown
Formenton - Pinto - Joseph
- Crookshanks/Gambrell/Gaudette/Watson/Kastelic/Kelly/other 4th liner.
Then you trade Brown for his value, have Formenton come up onto the second line.
Then have the 7OA pick from this years draft come in next year and you'll have you're top six all set.</div></div>
Not progressing much if at all doing this. Might even regress after trading Connor Brown. There's a reason contenders pay a PREMIUM to get players like Brown (Lehkonen, Copp, Coleman, etc)
Team progression would have to come from either coaching or defense.

I don't see why they would. Adding bad money like this would have negative impacts a couple of years down the line. This kind of deal loses you Zub

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hii</b></div><div>Ottawa doesn't need to do anything with Murray. Less alone pay that huge price cause they can pretty easily just wait the remaining two years out and have him on LTIR.
Also how does a team that has an excess in cap space have to pay to get ride of cap. That contract is not causing a determent to Ottawa and he'll most likely sit on LTIR anyway.
For those reasons Ottawa declines.</div></div>
They dont have a cap issue now but I figured with Stutzle/Pinto having to get paid next year and I think OTT will be active in FA having some extra money will come in handy. Thanks for the feedback.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hii</b></div><div>Not really, there isn't a spot on the roster where I see Connor Brown fitting into the long term plans.
Though in all honesty, I think Ottawa found it's next Connor Brown in Matthew Joseph and that Joseph will end up replacing Brown for the duration his stay.</div></div>
It remains to be seen if Joseph can be as good defensively while producing as much as Brown at Even Strength or on the PK. This is extremely valuable and not something I think a lot of people really understand
A Formenton - Pinto - Brown 3rd line could IDEAL and the kind of 3rd line that would push us above competition. We're not going to outplay contending teams with the power of our top-6. They have star/high end players too and some have the elite ones
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>Does Zaitsev do anything good?</div></div>
Shelter him on your 3rd pair against average competition and he would do "ok". Need to pair with a good passer. The higher the role above that you will give him, the bigger detriment he will be.

I wouldn't be suprised if it is the popular 7th OA and Jarventie going back for Fiala but I could totally see Ottawa just kicky back and letting their players develop and then contend cause the East is going to be killer.</div></div>
Haha now that would be something. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m very curious to see what the package ends up being.

He's a 25 year old defender coming out of college and he hasn't been hugely succesful. I would say 90% of the time he would get qualified but there may be something else and he falls to FA.
For this mock he ends up falling to FA. He's not a big piece anyway.</div></div>
Totally - and this offseason will be interesting for BOS, lot of moving parts. So yes, anything can happen. Id say right now with Gryz starting the year hurt, Zboril coming off surgery and most likely a defensemen on the move he would be a cheap, easy guy to keep around to fill in when needed. But once again, anything can happen and he would probably have a better more consistent opportunity in OTT.

if bostons going to get rid of him theyll qualify and trade. they wont just not qualify him. seems silly to just let guys go for nothing if they can actually kind of play. hes been decent as a filler player in the nhl.

But I don't think the Seattle trade is all that bad considering that Dunn is a cost controlled RFA that is a bona-fida top 4 defenseman that plays both sides and can probably produce 40 points in a year.
I also see a lot of similarities in their games.
I did fix the trade in a later version that I posted.</div></div>
Dunn isn’t that good. Plus not the right Dman we need. He’s a bit better Brannstrom. We need a top 4 defensive RD

Hard to fathom a bigger waste of 10.5mil for Ottawa. Love Karlsson to death, but even 50% retained that contract is a major problem long term due to the years remaining. Labanc is also on an awful deal, I don't see a spot for him in the Sens lineup.

agree why wouldnt they qualify him? boston has 8 current nhl defensemen for 6 spots. one or 2 have to go. zboril didnt resign as a group 6 ufa to sit as a the 7th man. reilly likely moved this offseason. grz might start on ltir. or he could be moved. maybe clifton sits? theres alot of moving parts with boston and the cap gymnastics theyll have to play to land a true 2nd line center.
