nobody wants him, so he's untradeable and the Oil have enough dead salary cap space to add another, so Smith is a backup.

Nurse is probably worth the 9m he gets paid. Barrie and Keith are both overpayed for where they are in their respective points in their careers.

But Smith isn't the problem. He could still be a very capable backup.

You should scratch Murray off your list. Here's the insight


Matt Murray could really be the solution for Edmonton but 2 GIGANTIC problems :

- His AAV is way too high.

- He is very very injury prone, probably the most injury prone NHL player at the moment (and that includes several concussions)


He's good when healthy but he's barely healthy 50% of the time. Way too risky for Edmonton

I like the guy but he's very close to LTIR IMO

Pretty sure Keith will retire, he won't be giving up that much money by reneging on his final season.
