Pretty similar stats sure. In this situation you'd have to sign Aho first. The offer sheet was always going to cost more. Might have to give Aho only 5 years to get the lower number.

Accepting Cap Dumps
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>Tampa declines easily. Not worth a 1st to move Callahan. He only has 1 year on his deal left and they can buy him out and save almost $4M instead and save the asset. Best you'll get is a 3rd round pick or a B- prospect.
Carolina deal is interesting, but if its multiple 2nds then Detroit sends something of value to Carolina as well</div></div>
For those specific second round picks I would be willing to send a 4th or 3rd back. Or maybe a lesser prospect.

Offer Sheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>team needs a serious upgrade at goaltender to be considered anything more than a fringe team. With Mrazek and McElhinney next year I could very easily see them missing playoffs again</div></div>
As a Detroit fan, Mrazek is frustrating. If he could get out of his head he could be fantastic. The top of his game is Vezina quality, too bad he's as likely to be pulled as post a shut-out.

Offer Sheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>4 future 1st round picks from a fringe playoff team? Plus overpaying a player that doesn't help their cap when Svechnikov and Necas need new deals? Doesn't sound smart at all. But Toronto declines to match the offer and takes the picks. Then signs one of the big free agents available for less to replace Marner. Uses the extra cap space to improve the defence, oh and has 4 future 1st round picks that could very easily turn into lottery picks. Thanks for making the team more complete Carolina.
It's not smart to offer sheet Marner. The price of his contract and the compensation greatly exceed his value. Now if you wanna talk trade, that seems more reasonable. Starts with Pesce. Inculdes one of Svechnikov or Necas and a 1st round pick. Plus maybe a bit more. But you'd be dumb to offer sheet him</div></div>
Would argue that as Svech, Necas, Pesce and Slavin get older they're going to get better. Add Marner who just put up 94 points to a team with a better defense and his production should stay in that range. At that point, I don't see them as a fringe team. I don't see Toronto being willing to trade him unless it's for a serious over-payment. Again, it's all just for fun.

Accepting Cap Dumps
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Breakaway</b></div><div>I don't think there is any chance you get a 1st for one year of Callahan. As a Bruins fan I wouldn't give up more than a 2nd to get rid of Backes and his hit is for an extra year. He's a comparable player to Callahan as well; basically a 3rd / 4th liner now. The real money owed to Callahan is 4.7M dollars next season and Backes costs 5M over 2 years if traded after his bonus is paid out which makes them similar values. Most cap floor teams don't worry about the hit a player has, but they do worry about the actual money being paid to the player because it effects how much money the owner makes.</div></div>
Tampa in a real possible cap bind at the moment with Point putting up epic numbers. They might be willing.

I'd be all for this, but I doubt Buffalo would be. Cap really isn't a concern right now as much as available roster slots are.

Draft day trade
Interesting idea. I wouldn't hate it (not sure Boldy would be my skater pick though). I would only trade the 4th overall if the first three went Hughes, Kakko, Byram. If not, I'm drafting Byram. We need to finally draft that potential top D.

He just doesn't finish as well as I hoped he would. Still id prefer to move svechnikov or even rass before mantha.</div></div>
I don't really have a good handle on Ras given how young he is. Still think he could go either way. He reminds me of Sheahan at times for some reason. I wouldn't have any problem trading Svech but I don't think the value is there given the track record.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>not my post i dont Trade Hudon .
i come here to deal with people trying to share all they dont know about our prospects like they tried Burying Lehkonen all last year .
basically what i had confirms what i thought about DET direction , they are not interested in putting the players first in any capacity . A team that is content to let a long term leader like that leave the NHL without seeing the playoffs for his last few years is just outright cold .
Plekanec served us loyally and we even traded him to our rival in our division just because it was his best chance , luckily MTL puts hockey first and treats players with reverence .</div></div>
I can’t tell you what’s actually true because I don’t have inside access obviously but in the few Ken Holland interviews that have been given, he basically said he’d leave it up to Kronwall on whether or not he wanted to move. Take that for what it is.

to dumb to fire your GM , to naive to get a coach worth a damn .
instead you do the same things over and over with no success .
the few youth prospects you have arent happy and i've heard Andrea's is wanting out .
honestly you'd be blessed to get a Hudon given you're still using our castoffs as NHL regulars hahaha
Hudon > De La Rose by a country mile and is just one of atleast 6 Detroit players i know Hudon could beat out for a spot as again your team is directionless and wasting picks on player built for the NHL 10-15 years ago choosing size over skill .
you coasted with a few veterans helping some youth over achieve for about 3-4 seasons then when Datsyuk finally had enough carrying DET its like that was it because Zetterberg was forced to shoulder an extreme amount of responsibility for a losing franchise years away from being a regular playoff team .
i love DET because it was my grandfather favorite team but right around when he passed away its like you guys just stopped trying to win cups</div></div>
Never understood the De la Rose pickup, but if you’re desperate to trade Hudon, why would we even want him? Never understand this logic.
You’re not telling me anything I don’t know about the team. But to “be lucky” to trade LGD for a downgrade - when Detroit has no interest in trading him to begin with - doesn’t seem like anything that’s going to happen. Only way I see that they trade him is in an overpayment from somebody who really wants him. Don’t see him going for equal value because it’s not like they’re cap strapped or need him out for any other reason.
AA is fine now that they finally paid him more like what he’s worth on a bridge. He’ll probably get paid more than Larkin on his next deal.
The team basically hinges on whether or not they hire Yzerman in some role this offseason or not.

They’re definitely rebuilding for a time but they need roster spots for the forwards they have coming in. I’m sure they’re hoping hat Zadina and Svechnikov are in the NHL next season and as a fan I’m hoping Veleno can push his way on the roster.
Also, as much as I like Kronner, the knee has just slowed him down too much. I don’t think you’d be super thrilled with his play. His mind is still in it but the speed of the game now really exposes him at times.

You don't seem to understand English. I said "Detroit won't part with Glendening for less than a second and will probably want more. They're pretty high on him." It had zero to do with what I want. I even said, "Not sure I see a huge valuation for him." I don't care if Glendening gets traded for a bag of Oreos. I'm talking about what the ask will be in reality. I'm guessing that's what they'd start with. They need defense. They certainly aren't trading him for Hudon and a 4th. What would be the point?
Detroit's going to say, "Oh hey Montreal, thanks for calling us about Glendening, you must want him, could you maybe trade us something that makes us worse? Awesome."

I don't care if Kronwall goes to try to win a cup somewhere else, would wish him the best. Guy gave us a lot of good years. I'm saying I don't care for the trade. Don't need more bottom 6 forwards. If there isn't room in Montreal for Hudon, I'm not sure how that has anything to do with Detroit. Waive him.

I wouldn't have much interest in it as a Detroit fan. I'd take another pick over the two RFAs. We need roster slots in the next two years for forwards to come in and we've got enough bottom 6 talent in the org as it is. I'd personally rather have LGD than the two of them. If it was one of the Canadiens' defensive prospects like Brook or Fleury I'd be about it. You could keep everything else.
