take out hudon , reilly and jensen .

Kronwall and Glendenning for Peca , 2nd , 3rd and 4th sounds more then fair .

we're paying Timmonen prices to give Kronwall the 38 years old veteran the chance at a key role on the playoff team .

Folin fits our style way better then Jensen who's no where near as quick as Folin .
plus Reilly-Folin are former defensive partners so it gives us added chemistry and depth cycling Benn in as needed . (as luckily benn plays both sides and can relive anyone )

Changed it and hudon is not going be on this team next year so just trade him

I wouldn't have much interest in it as a Detroit fan. I'd take another pick over the two RFAs. We need roster slots in the next two years for forwards to come in and we've got enough bottom 6 talent in the org as it is. I'd personally rather have LGD than the two of them. If it was one of the Canadiens' defensive prospects like Brook or Fleury I'd be about it. You could keep everything else.

way easier to trade him after a good camp and with a contract.

if we sign him to a 1-2 year deal and move him after a good camp we might get a 3rd and maybe even a player in return as teams shuffle out prospects.
trading him now only works with a team that's stacked for the playoffs who wanted him for his speed and PK ability like a WSH,TBL or SJS .

Hudons a tricky situation and like Lehkonen struggling last year during his 2nd year slump i think moving him means no reward just a consulation prize.

i mean i trade Hudon with MIN all the time for M.Shaw and a 6th or 7th pick because Shaw's a player like Hudon who a crapshoot but could be a third line forward . MIN doesnt have to wait to develop Shaw and get a similar player .

you misunderstand the value of Kronwall it seems

DET is doing this as they know if he stays thats the end of his playoffs just like MTL did with Plekanec and PHI did with Streit and Timonen

you are not and never will get top dollar for a pity move

You telling me you wouldn't let Kronwall try to win cup and rather keep him? Peca is fast and there no room MTL for hudon

thats like saying CHI wasnt interested in winning their last cup or PIT had no interest in theirs .

streit , timmonen , hainsey .... frig you can go all the way back to Bourque .

Good franchise's on both sides try to give NHL veterans who helped grow the sport a good chance at a cup and a proper send off .

Chicago was interested in making a run to the Cup. So was Pittsburgh.

Bergevin has stated many times he isn't interested in Rentals. You can't compare the two teams.

What do you mean? We traded a bad contract an AHLer for a bad contract and a fringe NHL defensemen. None of those guys are rentals.

i think the break down in communication here is there was no explination up top saying we're taking him in a trade structure like Timmonen's deal so he can have a final run at a cup .

no one can deny that logic but when superficial people come in the just look at this and go ''he's short' , ''he's old '' , or ''he's not a top 6 guy'' . They ignore the context to focus on all the things that make up their shallow lives . myself if i see someone i'm unfamiliar with i do my research i dont just pick at cliche things .

what i've learned about this site is you always got to over explain yourself to avoid being overrun by simpletons .

that isnt what he said you rube .

he said he's not interested in moving his first for a short term rental . . . . . . . . .

if a deal for later picks cam he'd make it as would 99% of GMs in a playoff position as you dont avoid getting better today for a 1/10th chance a 4th round pick turns into a 4th liner . . . . .

2nd round picks are all project players including Romanov who's a stud ,Ylonen who's a stud , Olofsson who could become an Eller type and Ikonen .
but we wouldnt lose sleep over losing any other them because in this case Romanov was projected at 5th round by MB took him in the 2nd and traded off his last 2nd pick because there was nothing else of value after pick 45 that would possibly see NHL ice in the next 5 years . hell we could taken Romanov in the 3rd or 4th as outside MB no one scouted the kid over in russia (mb goes atleast 2-3 times a year to scout players)

giving up a 2nd for kronwall is like giving up an Ikonen , it may hurt in 5 years but only in a bottom 6 kinda way

That's a little bold. Columbus is currently one point in the playoffs. 40-60 is another Olofsson/Ikonen/Brook which to me is solid prospect.

a 38 YO with 14 points in 58 games doesn't really make us better... 2nd + 3rd + 4th for a guy that is arguably worse than Benn is not an upgrade in my mind.
