Wings in on Hanifin with ext in play
Not enough there for Flames, and why would DET do that?
They just went and got Petry, Gotisbehere, Holl and added that to Charoit and Maata? Talk about making a logjam worse

Steps in the right direction
Ellis is on LTIR and always will be, PHI is one of the deepest pockets in the league, they dont need to move Ellis or pay to do it.
Allen is not worth a 3rd and 4th. Maybe a 4th, but hes been pretty bad the past few years and his cap hit for a backup and 2 yrs left is not good. I'd be suprised if PHI offers a 4th. Theres free cap dumps and maybe Martin Jones, Sandstrom has played well last yr and so far this year, theres a ton better options in UFA in off season and I just cant see it....

Savard at 50 percent is a late round 1st and a bit more but not that

Integrating young guys adding some older guys
Robertson due to injuries, size, type of play and still not a sure thing in the top 9, especially on teams laden with higher ceiling youth does not get a Barron back.
I’m not sure he gets his draft position (low round 2nd) back.
Mtl fans wants a 1st and more back, I think they get a 1st for him.
And there’s not enough for CGY in that deal

Is Cowan eligble to play games
PHI accepts, STL doesn't.
You're either adding Minten or Hirvonen and a 3rd at least.
Bear in mind that a late 1st is generally a 50% chance of being a regular NHLer and that Robertson is an expiring RFA that no one is sure IS an top 9 NHLer. ANd that Brodie, in STL eyes, is a cap dump to make it work for TOR. Just not enough there

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vinny82</b></div><div>I like the idea of a hockey trade involving Atkinson, not sure Dallas does that, Seguin is still a significantly better player but love the thought.</div></div>
Kind of my thought.
Seguin is the better player, but a 9mil cap hit for 3 yrs as opposed to 5.8mil for 1 yr? Thats the trade off for DAL. ANd PHI lacks centers throughout organization, he fills a gap for 2-3 yrs and a 3rd line of Frost-Brink-Cates is worth it

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeBone</b></div><div>I'm not disagreeing with the overall thrust of your comment, but the part where you call Foegele a cap dump is simply unreasonable. He's not some useless 4th liner that's paid 2x his worth. If I had to guess, you mean that he's a necessary cap casualty (different from a cap dump) for EDM to complete the trade but that doesn't mean he's valueless or a negative value. At absolute worst, he's an asset you can flip for a 3rd, perhaps even a 2nd given his performance this year.</div></div>
Exactly what I was thinking, cap dump is unkind. But to PHI as an exp[iiring UFA that theyd need to flip by a deadline, he offers not tons. If EDM traded him for a 3rd and added the 3rd to the package to PHI then sure

You'd have to think the asking price for Laughton with 3 yrs of retention is a 1st and 3rd easy.
But that leaves a lot of junk for Seeler:
Savoie is a former 4th round pick not scoring in 2 yrs in AHL has minimal value
Nieminielin is a 25 yr old going nowhere in 2 yrs in AHL
Fogele is an expiring cap dump
Thats just a few bodies PHI doesn;t want.

Very weak offers.
A bunch of 3rds and 5ths and some guys who have limited value. 3rds and 5ths?
Why would STL want expiring Brodie? What value does Kokkonen have?
I like Voit, but he and 2 5ths dont get DUmba at 50%.
What value does Steeves have? What value does Ellis have?

Two New Defencemen
PHI has alot of wingers, so Robertson doesnt move the guage that much and Timmins has pretty much ZERO value.
3rd, 2 5ths, robertson maybe, but Timmins is a guy Toronto got for nothing, cant play defense, cant stay healthy and on the move to his 4th team in 5 years?

If hes a 1st pairing guy, then we're in trouble.
And considering Treliving insisted we needed offense from blueline (Klingberg), where is it? Other than reilly theres not a single guy who'll get 25 pts

somehow doubt they're done.
Hart and Ellis go on LTIR, which gives them 10mil in cap space.
Laughton (and hopefully not) Frost and Atkinson at 50% might still go for good return.

The final countdown
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Grebby14</b></div><div>I would love for them to get a 1st for Walker but with what Tanev went for I’d be shocked if they did unless they take back a bad contract or send Walker with Seeler and get a first that way. The rumored ask of a 1st and a 2nd for Walker + Seeler seems unrealistic after that Tanev trade.
Schmidt + 1st for Walker I’d be happy with. Let Brad Shaw work his magic with Schmidt then flip him at 50% retained next deadline for another good return.</div></div>
The opposite is also true. Tanev being gone, makes Walker and Carrier the best RD defensive two way dmen on the market. And alot of fans think CGY didnt get a good enough return.
I see Schmidt, especially at 5.9 for TWO years, as horrewndous bad value, and close to a cap dump. Even at 50% Schmidt has another year left, at some point you want long term vets to play with the kids in PHI, thats not schmidt.
PHI doeasn;t add a 3rd and WPG does, is closer.
Just think you've taken too many cap hits (kulak, schmidt, johanssen and dreiger), with 3 of them having term left

DOnt think Stephenson will come as cheap as all that, and that defense looks no better.
Lots of long term deals and not much to pay the RFAs like Kulich, Johnson JJP
Not really improved the team, other than almost capped out.
Not sure if its really fixed what isnt working
