FYI, Kesselring is a substantial prospect, have a look. I’ve been watching him closely for 4 years, he is developing nicely and will be a regular in the NHL soon, but is blocked in Edmonton, the Preds are a more favourable situation for him.
KY is better than his stats show, probably hit 10 posts/missed nets this season, should have 15 goals at this point, but very unlucky this season. He is a high skill/high effort player. He will be a perennial 20 goal scorer, don’t let his size fool you, he knocked down Chara with a body check a few seasons ago (he uses Antman technique, lol).
This is an excellent return for the Preds.

Ducks blockbuster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>. . . especially since Cam's contract is slightly back-loaded.</div></div>
With a backloaded deal it is to the Duck’s benefit. Assuming the Oilers would pay the overages (and they would in such a deal) Ducks owners would “save” $2.25 million over 3 years, if they don’t retain or $12 million over 3 years if they do.
Also, this season, if the trade was made today, the Ducks would save $2,557,692 for a $3.5 million cap hit, if 50% retained.
From Fowler’s standpoint, he has not played a playoff game in over 6 seasons.
Fowler has been in league since he was 18. He is 31 and not on a good team and likely won’t see another playoff game on this team until perhaps the final year of his contract. Generally speaking, players value winning and have a goal from childhood of raising the Stanley Cup. It depends on what he wants; anything is possible.
All the verbal surrounds Klingberg, as it has since the summer, so Fowler likely is not being discussed, but he would be the ideal target for Edmonton.
Also, Barrie>Klingberg.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>InRodWeTrust</b></div><div>This guy is pretty bad. I couldn't understand it when the Canes grabbed him for a year. Even at the AHL level.</div></div>
He was picked up by the Canes for Seattle’s expansion draft. He satisfied the criteria of the Canes having the required number of signed goalies, when they had several that were UFA at the time. He cost the Canes nothing to acquire.
Holland did his back-stabbing bud a solid, after Waddell had claimed Anton Forsberg in 2020 on waivers anticipating a waiver claim on Ned. This really effed the Oilers goalie situation at the time because of injuries to both Koskinen and Smith. Remember this, Waddell owes him big time.
As for Wells, he was spoken of in Matt Murray terms (soon after his Cup exploits), all kinds of potential in his mid-teens, but did not put up good numbers, except for 1 season and 1 playoff run in the OHL after he was drafted.
Basically was drafted based on hope and not due to his results. He is a back-up ECHL quality goaltender, but he is also still young for a goalie. His “potential” will always give him an opportunity over less-heralded prospects.

It’s almost like we can take something, like a name, or where someone is from (or insert criteria that they have little to no control over) and hold that against them. What a horrible world that would be, eh?
Good thing that this is a website where you can play make-believe and because it is the internet, so who cares right?

I am not understanding how you figure Chychrun’s 50 games this season will = all those other guys. He is simply not worth that, such a massive risk.
I would do Barrie + a 3rd, nothing more. Barrie is valuable to this team.
Losing Ryan and replacing him with Janmark only hurts this team.

I know, right? Even though Foegele is 2 years younger and a much better scorer, he still doesn’t rate at Jason Dickenson’s level, so need to add more.
Arizona, Anaheim, Chicago or Buffalo might be interested in a LW upgrade. He should easily get back a 3rd or 4th.
Some of these teams are competitive and Foegele is a useful player.

My point regarding Tartar that vets on “big contracts” have been waived (but on a paper transaction where they don’t report to the AHL team) knowing that they would be unlikely to be claimed due to cap hit.
There are lots of options.

Fair enough, but most teams have the same concerns, but that should not prevent management from acquiring players. A 3 yr contract is a big deal.
Maybe they put a vet like Tartar on waivers or Bastian or Wood. This stuff happens every single year, but honestly not something to prevent a trade for a proven vet. So many talented players like the 2 Swedes never become NHL regulars.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tintin</b></div><div>The Devils should definitely take this if offered.
Don't see why MTL would do that trade in the first place however.</div></div>
Because this is they have no offense coming from the defense:
Erratic Matheson - finally had a 30 pt season
KHL Wideman - 3 of 7 years a full-time NHLer
Also -25, worst on team
Edmunson - 26 goals over 7 seasons
Savard - Over 30 pts, 8 yrs ago
Harris - 10 NHL games
Barron - 5 NHL games
Barrie: 2 years younger than Wideman and would be a superior PP option. Mtl has offensive weapons, a PP QB like Barrie would really help this team that has a DCorpse lacking experienced NHLers. 50% are essentially AHL quality.
The best defense, as per SC Cup Champion Darryl Sutter is to possess the puck more than the other team. Barrie halos a lot with that. Seems to be a no-brainer to me, but Habs fans are loving 1st Overall picks…

Boqvist has loads of offensive potential. My team has been exactly where NJ is now, for years. If your bottom 6 can keep the goal differential even, or outscore, this has extreme value. Evans does that, McLeod does not (he needs a fresh start).
With Bernier on LTIR there is cap room and the cap is going up over the next 3 seasons, so this is not a big deal.

Right, because 3 years of a cost-controlled contract for a 13 goal 4th line RHC with playoff experience has no value, in exchange for a offensively challenged 4th line RHC.
Jake Evans (last season on a horrible defensive team) last 2 seasons: -2, (Montreal -98 last yr).
Michael McLeod: -25 (NJD -59 last season).
