Well, I'm not sure where he got that info from, but if it's true it's extremely short sighted on Fletcher's part. And if he said it to the media he honestly shouldn't have a job anymore.

Gotta get Gaudreau off that "3rd" line. Offense dies as soon as he touches the puck. Still not sure about Stastny, his skating isn't what it used to be and I worry he's just a Rask with better intangibles. Still an upgrade over Gaudreau though and he brings intangibles.
I have a feeling Miller will stay in Vancouver and Hertl will extend so Giroux seems like the prize rental target. I'm selling myself more on the idea of him but I worry he'd cost one of Boldy, Rossi, Wallstedt, Addison, or Lambos along with a 1st and if that's the case I'm out on him. Will be interesting to see what Guerin does, but it probably will be a move like this or for someone like Tierney.

If it's after the season, great. He's yours.
But right now? Not a chance. A cup contender isn't moving a needed and necessary piece to another contender in season. It's lunacy otherwise.

Minnesota currently has better odds at the cup than Toronto does.

I dont think it makes sense for us to give Vegas this years 1st AND one of our top prospects so they can add Eichel to the lineup... that wouldnt be smart on our part. Id say vegas is going to have to pay to move smith.

Everyone else has already touched on the Isles deal, so i won't
Kinda doubt Dermott gets that at this point, I see Leafs fans complain about him as a much as anyone
Minnesota has absolutely no need or want for Holl, who isn't even worth close to a 3rd right now
No one wants Engvall
I don't know would want Mrazek at this point, he's not exactly cheap and he's always hurt.

Short Answer:
McDavid coming back our way.
Obviously MIN adds, just getting my point across is all.
Long Answer:
He's untouchable and not available. Not unless we're getting a top 3 elite franchise center back for him. And the list of teams that includes them is <strong><em>very</em></strong> short.

Second line center
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JayTea</b></div><div>Any idea why he's only played 31 games this year? His transaction history has him listed on NHL Non-roster for 7 days last month so that's probably COVID protocol but the Jets didn't play 11 games in that timeframe so has he been injured?</div></div>
I haven't exactly followed the Jets closely this year, but IIRC he was just coming back from injury when he got put into protocol. All I know is he's playing now, and playing well.
Furthermore, he has a history of being moved at the deadline before and has shown to be a successful inclusion for the teams acquiring him that year. It's not exactly new to him, and he doesn’t seem to disrupt the lockerrooms of the team he gets dealt to either. Which is another key reason why we should consider him over others. Given our concerns about messing up our team chemistry moving forward.
He's also good on the dot too. So a boon there as well.

Fiala to NJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>I'm not suggesting he will get a top prospect, but it just doesn't make sense for us to trade him if we don't get a player like that in return. Fiala has streaks where he dominates and looks like one of the best players in the league (he's on one right with 9 goals and 16 points in his last 12 games, a 109 point pace over 82 games). He also has stretches where he looks severely snakebitten despite producing a bunch of chances. Overall Fiala is an electric line-driving player, he just hasn't been given talented linemates to capitalize on the chances he makes for nearly his entire Wild tenure. The last time he had one he had 26 points in 18 games during the bubble season with Eric Staal as his center. This year he and Boldy have some amazing chemistry and what do you know, he's on pace for nearly 70 points after his slow start to the season.
Sam Reinhart was playing with Jack Eichel when he put up those numbers. Buchnevich was playing with Zibanejad and Kreider. Fiala's most common linemates the past two seasons? Johansson and Victor Rask last season, and the shells of Mikko Koivu and Zach Parise the season before. If anything it's extremely impressive he produced at the rate he did with the anchors he had on his line.</div></div>
To further add to this.
Fiala is currently on a .83 PPG pace this year, and that's with the first half of the season, slow start, and not much help on his line until Boldy was added to it 10 games ago to drag the number down.
Next to either Hischier or Hughes as his center and potential wingmates of either Sharangovich or Holtz. That PPG of .83 is going to be on the low end for him if he's on the Devil's. You're not paying for a franchises past failings but for what the players actually capable of.

Fiala to NJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devil</b></div><div>Why is his price so high?
His closest comparables would be Pavel Buchnevich and Sam Reinhart, both wingers in their mid 20s and RFAs.
In the prior 3 seasons (not including this season since it's not complete)
Sam Reinhart: 0.75 PPG
Pavel Buchnevich: 0.71 PPG
Kevin Fiala: 0.68 PPG
Reinhart went for late 1st + prospect
Buchnevich went for a 2nd + bottom 6 forward
There's no reason Fiala gets a top prospect like Hughes, Holtz, or Mercer</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>If you are talking about Hughes and Hischier, you are only setting yourself up for disappointment. He is not going to return a top player, a top pick or a top prospect without an extension agreed to. Think Sam Reinhart.</div></div>

I'm sure Guerin would have interest in Holtz, Mercer, or Hughes. I'm sure Devils don't want to move any of the though so probably no deal to be had.
