Sabre and King fans will hate this trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>If Johnson is better, offer Johnson. They'd be fools to turn that down. Lemme know how it goes.</div></div>It will take more than replacing Samuelsson with Johnson to consummate the above trade.
Getting Iafallo would be icing on the cake, RHD was my primary goal.
While I totally understand why we all love Samuelsson, Durzi may not be as physical but his defensive capabilities are above average.
By trading Samuelsson, I was hoping to remove an impediment that was keeping Johnson from signing with the Sabres.
Also by trading Samuelsson it would give Bryson and Pilut more playing time.
If the pundit reports are accurate, getting a LHD better than Samuelsson would be a huge upgrade.
Since the Sabres finished the season 16-9-3, adding two more upgrades along with Comrie, Lyubushkin, and Power (for a full season) I thought it may be enough to push the team into the playoffs.
While I knew the trade would be trashed by King fans, that defense set has an offensive threat among every pairing.
Finally, I was looking not only to this season but into the future with Johnson as a LHD.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Only an unreconstructed Sabre homer would think that Iafallo isn't the best player in this exchange. The fact that he's significantly older than the other three players in this deal is offset by the fact that age is the only way you get experience and Iafallo's defensive prowess would cancel out Olofsson's noted defensive deficiencies. (I'd play them on the same line.)
Durzi is 10+ months younger than Asplund and less than 18 months older than Samuelsson, who has less experience (albeit both are small samples) and a far lower offensive upside than Durzi. Nevertheless, I would probably exchange the two if a one-for-one offer was made and Sean Walker wasn't going to be ready for the start of the season. The other half of this exchange is a no-go for Los Angeles.</div></div> While many ACGM's think the Leafs over value their players, it is obvious all of the Sabre comments feel the Sabre's are over paying.
I completely agree with your assessment, the Kings lose this trade by a wide margin.
Durzi or Samuelsson, one offers strong offense, the other physical defense.
Iafallo or Asplund, it is a joke to compare the two. Both offer strong defense, but only Iafallo has provided offense.
I knew this trade greatly favored the Sabres, and strongly believe Iafallo would be a great addition as he was raised 20 minutes from Key Bank Center.
As you can see by the title, I expected those comments from Sabre fans but I also expected more from King fans similar to yours.
It is interesting that Johnson while unsigned is considered by several sights a better LHD than Samuelsson, but the Sabre fans are willing to trade him and not Mattias.
Buffalo has ample depth at LHD bit needs RHD, from your comment it appears the Kings have the reverse situation.
While you would hate this trade, I would pine for it as it helps Buffalo balance RHD with LHD and gives the Sabres veteran LW leadership.
Thank you for your comment.

I would recommend a tour even if Mick and Jagger did not go there.

Please tell me your price range for the food, there are too many to list TBH without knowing where you will be staying and your price range and how you will travel.
Buffalo has many micro breweries: https://uncoveringnewyork.com/breweries-in-buffalo/ I have been to most of these if you are interested.
Will you be in Buffalo long? Out side of sports, Buffalo has some of the best 19th Century architecture in the country.

It must be the Edmonton fans who regard Jesse's defensive skills so highly because he only received one Selke award vote so no on else in the hockey world sees it.
I mention Asplund because his defensive skills are probably on the same level as Jesse (and recognized by more Selke votes), but no one would dream to say Rasmus is more valuable than Victor.
I conceded that if you wish take Foegele or add a pick or do both if you wish, but to maintain Jesse would be valued on the same level as Victor is just home town eyes.

That wrist injury he played through last year IMO was a blessing cause his overall game improved immensely.</div></div> <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>Buffalo is getting a first with the best player in the trade its very one sided.</div></div> <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>JP is hardly the best player in the trade, he has slightly better career totals playing with one of two top point producers in recent years, while Oloffson played on a team that barely scored in recent years.
JP is two years younger but he also wants out (for the second time). Superstars wanting out can drive down their market value and JP is far closer to being a bust than a superstar. So even, if he is the best player in the trade, he isn't the most valuable.
It's true that trade is probably terrible for the Oilers since they would have to pay Oloffson and at the cost of a first but with Holland I wouldn't be surprised if he did trade JP+WF+picks (probably not a first) for Oloffson if he doesn't retain Kane or land Giroux.</div></div> I will be completely candid here, if one wanted to dispute all of the other trades sure, but not the Puljujarvi trade.
First, Jesse plays on a team that scored 58 more goals than Buffalo but Olofsson scored 50% more goals and pts than Jesse.
Second, Puljujärvi played with either Leon or Connor over 75% of the time and managed to scrape together 14 goals and 36 pts in 65 games. A chair could do as well!
Third, Olofsson played with Cozens, Asplund, Krebs, Okposo, Mittelstadt, Jankowski, Eakin, Ruotsalainen, Murray and Quinn about 50% of the time and managed 20 goals and 49 pts in 72 games, yet many think Jesse is the better player.
Fourth, take Jesse away from Connor and Leon and he may not get 10 goals.
Give Victor 75% of his ice time with Connor and Leon, he would probably more than double Jesse's 14 and get 30 goals at least.
Fifth, 14 goals in 65 games is only one more than Hinostroza got in 62 games, in other words, Vinnie is probably as good as Puljujärvi if Vinnie played wing for Connor or Leon!
Please stop pretending Puljujärvi has much value when a journey NHL RW playing on a team that is among the lowest scoring teams in the NHL has only ONE less goal than Jesse!
Foegele has a negative value, his 26 pts (playing for the Oilers, <strong>26 pts! how can one only get 26?</strong> could be had from a player with half of his $2,750,000 until 2023-24.
If you want Buffalo to make a small add on as a third, but considering Buffalo is also taking Foegele that has to help out the Oilers.
Finally, I hear Jesse causes a lot of turn overs, well he should be getting assists from all of those turn overs, yet he does not.
I cannot see how Jesse makes Leon and David better, please try to explain that one to their agents.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>...Another tear down, after finally seeing some promise is malpractice</div></div> HOW IS THIS A TEAR DOWN.
It is taking on salaries for picks, adding RHD, trading offense for defense forwards.
Iafallo, Compher and Puljujarvi are all strong defensive forwards who should help the PK and keep the Shots against low.
Grans, Iafallo, Roy, Puljujarvi, Toews, Compher, Foegele > Asplund, Krebs, Olofsson
Even with a line up with defensive forwards, this line up will score more than last years team while giving up fewer goals, especially adding two good RHD.
EDIT:
I will miss Olofsson, Krebs and Asplund but the return on them is very fair and helps the team, next year and in the future.
Compher and Iafallo are only 27 and 28 but can score and are very solid defensive forwards.
Let me add, Puljujarvi on the top line with Skinner and Thompson will allow them to free wheel knowing Jesse has their back.
Tuch, playing with Cozens and Mittelstadt will be the necessary veteran to be an on ice coach for them.
Quinn as Toews RW and Iafallo as LW is a perfect line to erase Jack's mistakes.
The fourth line could be one of the best in the league.

You are obviously watching a different Colin Miller.
<strong>ONLY </strong>Dahlin has a higher pts/min 1.6 v 1.2.
He has highest PDO (SPSV%) of all defensemen.
The highest CF% 49.5 of all defensemen.
The lowest +/- of <strong>ALL </strong>defensemen.
He moves the puck well, has a hard shot, and passes well (only Dahlin has more primary assists than he).
He would be a very good mentor for Power.
Before he was injured, he was on pace to his best season ever, Adams was absolutely correct at that point in the season he was worth a first round pick.

Buffalo center depth should be noted, Tage, Dylan, Casey (do not give up on him 6 pts in last 5 games and 9 in his last 13), Payton are all still young and developing.
Zemgus is under rated and IMO could be anchor a really good fourth line with Kyle.
While a small sample 8-3-2 (all playoff teams other than the Kings) over the last 13 games is playoffs.
Finally, as <a href="/users/sabres89" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@sabres89</a> insinuated, nearly all of the teams that do not have a center with more points than Tage are not in the playoff hunt.

RHD and GK are the only things keeping this team from making the playoffs.

Adding a first round pick
Thank you all for you feed back.
I will not question your opinions only offer comments.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Imagine875948</b></div><div>Pens decline</div></div> <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Letang4norris</b></div><div>Pens decline</div></div> I saw this trade posted by two different Penguin fans and neither had comments rejecting the trade.
Comments expressed the thought that added cap space and Miller were a plus.
I included retention to the Miller trade which I was hoping would make the trade even more appealing, presuming this would offer the Penguins more cap space for a TDL deal.
Apparently I was in error. <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>Dubas already said he isnt changing up the goaltending this season at all, so it would probably take a significant upgrade or a sweetheart of a deal to move Mrazek before late summer. this is not that</div></div> <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>It's been reported that teams are interested in Mrazek, it's not going to cost the leafs a 1st to move him. This is just trolling.</div></div> Similar to the above.
No I am not trolling just repeating trades from other Leaf fans who posted similar trades.
I patterned this one off of a trade which the Sabres were only sending a 2nd and 3rd to the Leafs for Mrazek and a 1st.
I also saw a trade that sent Mrazek and a second to a team for future considerations, so I presumed three mid to late seconds normally would return a late first round pick.
Again, I thought this trade would be more appealing making one of the picks a 2nd over a 3rd.
So again, I am not refuting your POV only offering insight to why I posted these trades.

My favorite trades posted today Grit picks RHD
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>That leafs trade is terrible</div></div> <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>These moves would certainly make our team much worse, especially in the future. Sabres wouldn't be taking on crappy contracts for free</div></div> Interesting, a Leaf and Sabre fan hate the same trade!
<a href="/users/Skyraider112" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Skyraider112</a> Hägg, Miller and Pysyk could all be gone next year, Dermott, Holl and Ritchie all have at least one more year. So I was guessing 3 signed players were better than no signed players.
You could be correct about the AVS trade. Compher plays RW and can PK, Kaut is a recent 1st round pick plus a 1st is included.
Buffalo has other options at LW (Krebs, Mittelstadt, Asplund, Girgensons), while only Tuch and Okposo are signed and play RW.
But if you do not like the trade, I will yield to your opinion.
As for the EDM trade, Buffalo is giving up nothing, please explain how adding two RHD makes the team worse, when Jokiharju is the only RHD signed for next year.

Depending on the value you put on Ritchie and Mrázek, are they cap dumps or do you think they have value?
While I really like Olofsson, I would make this trade.
Buffalo has other options for top 6 LW, or could wait for Robertson to develop.
If you took out Mrázek for Holl how would you modify the balance of the trade?</div></div> I see you posted your own version of this trade.
Sabre and Leaf fans dislike it.
If I were the Sabre GM and Dubas offered this for Olofsson, I do not know how I could refuse.

Huge shake up adding grit RHD and GK while collecting picks
Thank you all for your comments.
I buggered, I meant to include 50% retention on Olofsson and Miller.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MrDinkiee</b></div><div>Olofsson is not worth a first</div></div> <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>Leafs trade doesn't make much sense. They are paying to move Nick Ritchie and Mrazek to dump cap, why are they taking a 3 mil qualifying offer of questoinable cap space back? As I said above, I buggered, Olofsson was to be 50% retained.</div></div> <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>That Toronto trade hurts more than it helps Buffalo. You lose a capable player and pick up a bunch of crap and a late first round pick. <strong>You could be correct, see my comment below.</strong></div></div> <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluetomorrow83</b></div><div>Kapanen was traded for a 1st and was 0.5PPG forward Olofsson is a 0.67PPG forward. Toronto also dumping two contracts in that trade, it definitely requires a first. <strong>I was hoping I would get comments on the Barrie trade as well.</strong></div></div> Very interesting, Leaf and Sabre fan both hate the Olofsson trade.
Go to https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2995858 there Robertson was included by OB16 and still some Sabre fans did not like the trade.
I thought that was a bit much and this variation was not enough if one thinks of Ritchie and Mrázek as cap dumps.
I like Olofsson, but Buffalo has other options at LW.
Ritchie and Mrázek would add grit and an upgrade at GK while adding a first and second.

Changing the RHD trading all UFA striving for better odds to win first over all
I got the idea for the:
Bear trade from https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3004097
Koskinen trade from https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/544867
Barrie trade from https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3004442
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ruxin679</b></div><div>We don’t need to be bailing out Edmonton.</div></div> <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Edmonton's not touching that with a 10 foot pole. Both Edmonton and Carolina would reject these deals, Buffalo would faint if the deals were offered.
Since I saw these trades I wanted to get affirmation that my thoughts were in line with other ACGM's.
Bear > Pysyk
Barrie > Miller
Koskinen > Houser or Dell
All for only a fourth round pick.
Buffalo has sufficient cap space to take on both Barrie and Koskinen.
While neither Barrie nor Bear are #1 pairing defensemen Buffalo only has Jokiharju signed next year to play RHD with only Laaksonen in the pipe line.

Thank you all for contributing.
Yes the trades of Ritchie and Koskinen could be to any team.
I do not disagree with any of you comments.

If I am the Sabre's GM, I would give you a third for Barrie and be very happy getting one of best offensive D-men in the NHL.
