Return of Jets Elite Top 9 with Improved Gus as 4th line C and help with PK
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tsyls</b></div><div>I think the one key thing you’re forgetting is how much of an offensive black hole Copp becomes with Lowry. The jets need him to produce, he’s become a mainstay in the top 6. Putting him back with Lowry would be a catastrophic mistake.
I think Appleton would be a good piece. But realistically he’s not going to be that much of an upgrade over what the jets currently have. He was apart of an awful PK group last year, wouldn’t make a difference on the PK, almost the same argument you make about Toninato. I’d rather see vesalainen stay with Lowry and Stastny.
I understand your idea, but it creates more problems than it solves. Copp needs to be in the top 6.
Gustafsson needs to play with the jets. He’s ready and it’s insane that he hasn’t been called up. Like you said a main piece in an extremely good Moose PK, an area jets need desperate help in. Also gives Perfetti the opportunity to take over that top C position in the AHL.
Also Jets would be smart to start extension talks with Dubois during the season.</div></div>
I have no arguments against Copp... I've always believed in Copp, and believed he could get points before the 2020-2021 season. I'd be fine with Copp in top 6.
It's just Copp-Lowry-Appleton were able to play against the best and still do amazing, with a weak D last year. It's just they mix well together. Appleton has a more offensive grind that suits Copp's game, that does good with Lowry's good 2 way positioning. Along with Copp and Lowry with their strong chemistry all this time together, they were able to play against the best and still put up points. Copp got majority of his points playing outside of the Top 6 and created an Elite Top 9 that could shut down teams and out score teams with a weak D last year.
Even if we get Appleton back and he plays the 4th line RW, I think it would definitely be worth it to bring Appleton back. Make him challenge other's for the opportunities. He has a lot of Chemistry with our team game and understands our Players already having played with them for years. If Appleton is rejuvenated into an even better player than we expect, then it would only make it more rewarding.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>I think your setting yourself up for disappointment, pinning such high hopes on Appleton. The Jets finished the year badly with him, so getting him back likely won't make any difference. Guys who play less than 10 minutes a game don't have much effect on it. But at the right price, I'd be happy with him.</div></div>
Appleton is near minimum wage, and has been underutilized in a system he doesn't get enough opportunities or ice time to get used to the teams transition game. The team is still full of a lot of new players that haven't played more than a year together, and it's not on one player struggling. It could be a draining atmosphere, and the team isn't doing good... Appleton has proven he is good with the Jets players and understands the players and the System.
Sometimes you gotta be willing to pay extra to get the pieces that you're missing to finish your puzzle, either ways it wouldn't be finished. After all the pieces are together, you can see the big picture and you wouldn't have to spend anymore. Then it will be other's paying us premiums to get the Pieces they need, by then we will have other pieces that can have a different look to the Puzzle.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Toninato has played well, what happened to Vesalainen?</div></div>
Gustafsson has played really good for the Jets when he played 22 games on the 4th C role at 19 yrs old. Good defensive game at 19 in the NHL. But after only able to play 4 games in 2021-2022, he was sent down to the AHL where he grew stronger offensively and strong 2 way game. Since being sent down he has 34 Points in 43 games. Gustafsson is a key piece in a Penalty Kill that is around 87.7 percent and 2nd in the AHL. Jets have a struggling PK that is around 30th. Toninato isn't gonna help with the Penalty Kill, he isn't a Penalty specialist. Gustafsson has a strong defensive 2 way game, and is very good at killing Penalties. Gus is also good at making opportunities and scoring on opportunities. Gus is ready for the NHL.
As for Vesalainen, he costs way too much and would only leave around $500K in a 22 player roster. Sending Vesalainen down allows an extra $200K that would allow a player at minimum wage, so you can have a 23 man roster ready for the playoffs. Vesalainen would also get a lot more ice time and opportunities in the AHL, he could play a lot of time with Perfetti and Heinola while they are still playing in the AHL.

I thought about a 4th instead of a 3rd, but I just believe getting Appleton back would be worth it. It would be powerful, and help rejuvenate the Team getting a teammate back they believe in. Appleton understands the Top 9's transition game and has been with the team for a few years, before having a strong year with Copp and Lowry. Appleton has a lot of chemistry with the Jets players and their game styles, it would definitely be worth it to get Appleton back. He'll resign at a good price too.

Hands down best path Jets could take and Trade for Appleton back
Return of Jets Elite Top 9 from last season, with Appleton back into the Top 9. Bring Gustafsson back for the 4th line Center role and return with valuable experience on the Penalty Kill to help with the extra units. Copp and Lowry can stick together throughout most of the game on the third line too, and help simplify lineup transitions without any complications. Still give Copp his minutes.
With a revamped Dubois playing a strong 2 way game, and the Success he's been growing with both Connor and Ehlers seperately, it would be smart to bring these players together that has grown chemistry since playing together in 2020-2021.
It would be interesting to get Appleton back and get the Top 9 back that could be argued the best Top 9. Now with an Improved D, an improved Gustafsson, and better 4th line players... Would you agree that it would be interesting to see this Improved Team make noise in the Playoffs??

Jets call up Gustafsson Poganski Trade Beaulieu 2022 6th 2023 4th for Brown

Dillon-Pionk
(17min)(20min)
Stanley-DeMelo
(14min)(15min)
Schmidt/Brown
(7min)(4min)
That's the Lineup I would come up with calculated times averaging over 2¼ Penalties. Less than 2 penalties would be more time. More penalties is less time.
Copp-Schiefele-Wheeler is a good line to use too. But always keep Connor and Svechnikov together along with Lowry if the lineup is setup different, but could transition Dubois in place of Lowry during game. Stastny-Dubois-Ehlers would be the other lineup. And Gustafsson would have time to play an important center piece to help with transitioning in the lineup during game, and get to play with different pairs of good players at the same time.

Jets call up Gustafsson Poganski Trade Beaulieu 2022 6th 2023 4th for Brown
If Jets call up Vesalainen again, Jets would be left with $1,500. But would have to send Gustafsson down. I also offered a 3rd and 7th instead of a 4th and 6th with this trade but was shutdown. I wouldn't mind giving up whatever it took to make a trade happen. As long as it's worth it. I'm not here to have people agree with me, I'm here to give ideas to the ones that are in charge.

Updated Trade with updated move to bring up Poganski
Yeah Beaulieu being the 5th lefthanded defenseman is balanced. He isn't even a defensive defenseman and is only average at offense. Brown is a physical shutdown defensive defenseman at 6'5, 217. But yeah only having 2 right-handed defenseman is balanced especially when there is only 2 Right-handed RW and only one Right-handed Center. Need more right handed players not an extra healthy left-handed Scratch. If getting a left handed, he better be really good.

Updated Trade with updated move to bring up Poganski
Yes it would give reasons for the Jets to trade for Brown, as long as the $500k is retained. Cause that would make room for a 23rd roster spot on the Jets to call up Austin Poganski to help on the right side, Jets need more right handed. Beaulieu is a left handed LD. It would trade for a Big Natural Right-handed RD. At 6'5, 217. He would add physicality to the Right side, and would mostly be acquired for a physical playoff run. Jets have been successful with 11F-7D, and they could get used to playing this roster before the Playoffs.

Jets Trade Beaulieu Lundmark 22 1st and two 3rds for Joshua Brown and 2022 1st
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>I can't see Ottawa wanting to swap firsts for that.</div></div>
Joshua Brown isn't worth that much as a rental. So It really isn't too much value to have to give up. I would've added a 2nd but it would have to be a 2024 2nd because Jets don't have a 2023-24 2nd. Also Simon Lundmark is a 21yr old 2nd Rounder(51st) RD, and is a decently big guy at 6'2 201 pounds. Lundmark is prospect ready and you don't have to wait 2-4 years for him to Develop, and you could still have him waivers exempt for 3 years. Beaulieu is from Ontario and would probably stay with Sens at a low price if given more responsibility and minutes. Beaulieu could also play both sides. Along with 2 3rd round picks which are valuable, saying other wise is ignorant, so adding a Jets 2022 1st round pick to swap with Sens 1st isn't too much to ask for, it's still giving a lot. But other wise it's stupid to pay way too much for a rental.

Jets Trade Beaulieu Lundmark 22 1st and two 3rds for Joshua Brown and 2022 1st
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gmonwy</b></div><div>No they don't</div></div>
I see you're from the future, you were only from one of the possible futures though... ;) Haha just joking. But I'll just leave my perspective why this is an interesting possibility.
Jets could Trade Beaulieu(UFA) and a nice package to get Joshua Brown(UFA) and get 500k retained, just to get over $750,000 and enough room for a 23 man roster for the Playoffs using the maximum Cap. I would even add a 2nd but it would have to wait till 2024 cause Jets don't have a 2022 or 23 2nd. But other than that it would be too much for a rental and to move up in the 1st round(which would be nice to try negotiate.)
Jets have also been using the 11-7 roster amazingly and I believe they could learn to use this system as a very effective alternate lineup. It would be nice to have 2 Joshua's with the last name initials MB as a pairing. To trade for Joshua Brown as a big 6'5 217 lbs Right handed RD, Jets could add strength and physicality to the Right side. This would put Stanley as the 7th man on the 3rd pairing, but that's why it's interesting. Stanley could still use some development, spread the minutes a bit low but try give Stanley at least close to 10 min. You could still give Morrissey and Pionk 22 min. Give Dillon 17 min and then Brown, DeMelo and Schmidt 15 min. What's also interesting is Schmidt plays both sides so we could give him Shifts on both sides during the game. Schmidt could still play some shifts with Morrissey(who he's been playing amazing with) and he could help Morrissey on the left side with the Transitional game and Skating Ability produced to help with plays. Dillon and Stanley are average in those departments but keep a much needed Physicality on the Left side.
Even if Jets are just getting Joshua Brown for a rental, it would be very good for a strong playoff run. Sens don't look like they are making the playoffs this year with a very competitive East. If Brown intends on staying with the Sens future and Sens already have interest in signing Brown big money long-term. It won't hurt the team with a lot of cap space to work with, and Brown could still get paid by the team he's been growing with. It wouldn't hurt to let him have a run at the Cup, possibly win and get paid good long-term by the team he wants to stay with. That playoff experience would be beneficial for the player and his team. Which Sens don't look like they'll be getting that valuable playoff experience, again. This is why I believe this is beneficial for both teams, rather than wasting another year.

Jets huge offer for Appleton and both Fleury boys
This is using the Maximum Cap hit with 23 players, you could send down Samberg at $925K and send him back up whenever throughout the season. Vesalainen would not be sent down unless to make room for Samberg to help the Defensive depth barring injuries.
With injuries there would be an extra room for one of Samberg, Berdin, Perfetti, Mallot, Kovacevic(all Waivers exempt.) Toninato, Johnson, Suess and Nogier you would have to deal with them throughout the year and keep Vesalainen and Samberg in the AHL until an injury call up.

HUGE TRADE Dubois for Armia and 1st
Suit yourselves. Just a down year while only 22 years old
and going through a lot with his previous management, moving country's through pandemic alone and isolation, dealing with a lot of pressure, he's been through a very tough year. And you guys think a 3rd overall pick is a bust just for one down year at 22?!?... He has 22 POINTS in 33 PLAY OFF GAMES at just turning 23. He's been through a lot. He will overcome a lot of adversity and become a REALLY STRONG overall player. He's already proved to be a strong 2 way player his first couple years, just over a year ago he carried his team to beat a strong Leafs team with a ****ty CBJ team. With his big body he can play strong for another 10 years. This trade would help him go home an a decent deal for both teams.
This is the only chance you would get Dubois at his lowest value. Either ways things are totally fine with the Jet's team and the top prospects. Jets players will be better and worth more. Won't have leverage anymore.

This is an overpayment for the Jet's but worth it. Dubois, Beaulieu and a 4th or 5th would be more of a fair price, or Changing the MTL 7th to a 4th or 5th. In my honest opinion. Either ways we keep Dubois and up his value with a much better Jets team then trade him at the deadline or next season when the price is more hefty.

If you think he's a risk and not worth much to you, you're 100% correct and Phi will happily keep him.
I just don't understand why people keep trying to trade for a guy that has infinite value to Philly and no value to anyone else.</div></div>

3 way Jets give up Copp Dubois 2 first and 3rd
The Jets trade with Copp, 2 firsts and a 3rd would be a 2nd instead of a third but that Laine and Roslovic for Dubois and a 3rd was a cheap low ball. This is perfectly mutual for all teams involved. CBJ would have 5 2021 first round draft picks... They literally could use 4 of those first rounders to get McDavid or possibly 3 and a strong depth player to also off load some cap to reconstruct.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SaadurdayNight</b></div><div>If CBJ made this trade Jarmo would be fired immediately</div></div>
He's already put on a short leash... so...
And don't ever downplay the worth of Copp. He's played the 3rd line most season and barely any time with the Jets top 6. Has 39 points in 55 mostly on the 3rd line and helped the Defense stack up 5on5 points too, amazing at penalty kill etc, etc. He's a ''better overall player'' than any of the CBJ players. Only Bjorkstrand is a bit better offensively but is a lot weaker defensively and overall. He's the complete 2 way player the Blue Jackets need. Don't think so? Well that would be sad to let go... Harkins is still a good player who had 7 points in 29 last year as a rookie, down year with less opportunities but is still only 23. Niku is still only 24 and has only had very limited opportunities. He still had a decent year last year with 14 point in 18 games in AHL, and 5 points in 17 games in the NHL last year with limited opportunities. Copp, Harkins and Niku seem like a good value for Jones. And the leafs 1st pick seems good for 2 2nds especially when it's a expected late pick. So a pick probably around 23-32 for 2 picks probably around 45-60ish. This is a very beneficial deal for ''BOTH'' teams. Either ways oh well life moves on.

Yeah I figured Niku doesn't have much value anymore. Would probably only take this package if either Gustafsson or Samberg are included instead of Niku. But then the 2021 2nd would be switched to 2023 3rd, maybe 4th or 5th. Because that would be too much for a rich rental D. And Copp almost as valuable as Bjorkstrand Offensively but stronger 2 way and defensively too. So it would like like Copp, Harkins, Samberg/Gustafsson and 2022 3rd for Bjorkstrand and Savard.

Ehlers and Bjorkstrand are probably gonna go down as Denmarks best players in their history. So it would be awesome to see both of them together on a line. Bjorkstrand would be reunited with Dubois and create the 2nd line along with Ehlers. Copp playing 3rd line with 25 points in 33 GP.
