BLOCKBUSTER Trade with Ville Heinola as key piece for the 2022 Top Pick
Pretty good except Habs need a top 6 potential Center and a Top 4 potential RD. the only Jets player I can think of is perfetti. The Jets have scheifele, Dubois, lowry/copp, gustafsson. Pretty good, I don't think there is a need for perfetti especially if you get Wright or savioe with our top pick. Therfore the trade would be:
1st,Xhehaj, 2nd. In exchange for: heinola, perfetti, 1st. Then in a separate trade I have 2 ideas:
Norlinder,Harris in exchange for nils lundqvist, 3rd.
Or
Norlinder, Harris in exchange for noah dobson.

Habs only do this trade if there is another guaranteed trade that we give 1 or 2 of our LD defenseman in exchange for a young center or a young RD. Even if the habs had strength on the right side instead of the left side, they wouldn't do it. Don't get me wrong heinola is an amazing prospect but vesalainen and nikkanen won't move the needle, you would have to add a 1st to this trade also

Actually their LHD depth is quite high with Morrissey, Schmidt, Dillon, Beaulieu, Stanley and Samberg. They just don't want to put Heinola to a role where he is of little use. He needs minutes to develop.
He'd fit to top4 in the weak Habs roster pretty much instantly, or right after they've dealt Chiarot and the likes elsewhere.

Winnipeg doesn't lack D depth. What are you talking about? Heinola is very likely to be better than those players you named except Guhle who is a similar caliber prospect

He seems decent, maybe 13th forward next year.
Feel super bad for Gus. Just the worst luck.
Solid game by most of the team. Hellebuyck was a star once again. Scheifele annoyed the absolute s**t out of me the whole game. So many times he just got lost in la La land.
Connor is still underrated IMO.

Gus and Vesalainen will get slight bumps in pay.
If the Jets don't get to the conference final they really need to make a core change and to me one core change would be to move on from Copp, if they're not a playoff lock by this trade deadline he should be moved.

Bring back some Familiarity
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FuelYourJets</b></div><div>Yeah I know Tanev is a very versatile and valuable key piece on any team. Small error on the second paragraph, but I did say an extra pick. What I meant was a 1st, 2nd and 4th and adding a later pick like a 6th or 7th, along with Toninato for $1,750,000 retained from Tanev till 2025. Possibly even a 3rd, along with the 1st and 2nd with Toninato. This would be a powerful trade that will bring strong Familiarity and Chemistry to the Jets.</div></div>
I feel like you might as well just include beaulieu in the trade to seattle, they’re not cap strapped and taking beaulieu just causes less headaches for the Ottawa trade.
At that point you could also just take out the 4th and 6th and make it a 2nd.
Also as for Dubois, if he improves in the dot he could for sure be the 1C.
I miss tanev a lot, especially on the PK as he’s just a little buzz ball. Jets played a very strong game against St. Louis and I expect to see that continue. I think Lowry will be good, he’s tough and holds people accountable.

Bring back some Familiarity
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FuelYourJets</b></div><div>Tanev would totally be worth it. I figured it would be another pick or prospect, but I believe Picks would be more valuable to Seattle. So there could be a strong possibility Seattle might listen to ideas on this matter, if there are good valuable picks for them to move forward with. This also realistically fits, so there is a possibility. So the negotiating begins.
I was thinking of putting a 2023 4th instead of the 5th. So there would be a 1st, 2nd and 2023 4th and Toninato for Tanev at $1,750,000, and Appleton. Or Adding another 5th or 4th pick. So that one would be a 1st, 2nd and 5th and 4th/5th for Tanev at $1,750,000 and Appleton. These are obviously just suggestions for a middle ground and both teams would negotiate, but negotiating to getting Tanev at $1,750,000 for a few years would totally be worth it. GOOD PICKS for Seattle would be worth it.
Jets have their team set for the next few years with most of the Cap about to be signed and locked up, good top prospects ready, they could give up a few good future picks to negotiate with Seattle for a beneficial Trade for both teams.
People tryna downplay Tanev's game don't understand how underrated his 2 way game is, with the limited time he gets. He has a Career 88.3% PK, only 2 teams in the NHL are over that this year(Penguins and Hurricanes), and the other teams are 85.7% PK and under. On a struggling Jets Penalty teams at 70.6%, Tanev would help make the Jets a better team in all aspects of the game. Tanev also has a Career 93.1% oiSv% 5on5. In 325 Games he has 1082 hits with a Career Average 13.29 Ice time. Tanev gets SH Goals and Points too.
Tanev developed a lot with the Jets players, he understands the Jets player and their systems, he has a very good consistent game and would help make the Jets better. Appleton understands the Jets players and their systems too, was a huge part of the team last year too, also with a weaker Defense. Getting both Tanev and Appleton back would bring some strong familiarity and chemistry. It would boost the teams morale and overall help make the Jets a stronger team.
THIS is a very good idea that could realistically happen. Also for Dubois, if he can improve on his 42.7 FO%. Then yeah for sure, he could get more Faceoffs and more ice time during in game scenarios. I love Dubois, I've made many Trades on here with Laine and Roslovic for Dubois. I knew Dubois would be very good for the Jets. Like that was a good realistic possiblity, so is this trade. This would be a trade well worth negotiating.
As for the other comment regarding Sens and Jets Trade, yes there is a strong mutual friendship building that could be agreed upon, with Future Considerations included... Not much risk to pay for with going forward. Without Trading Beaulieu there is no room for 22 players, even with maximizing the retained amounts and getting Tanev at $1,750,000 and Appleton at $729,000. This is a powerful trade that is worth negotiating to make things happen.</div></div>
Don’t disagree with a lot of what you said. Was never downplaying tanev in fact thought it would take more than this to acquire him with retention.
Think there’s definitely a trade to be made for tanev.

Might as well just include beaulieu in that trade and and swap the 4th for a prospect.</div></div>
It should be enough really or pretty close, one year of dumping Mark Staal took a 2nd and he made almost $6M, Tanev is a fan favorite for the Kraken though so doubt they'd move him.

1.75 million over 4 years is worse than 3 million for 1 year. Especially for a team like seattle who will look to improve over the next 3-4 years.
I just don’t think it makes a lot of sense from seattles standpoint. But also probably too much to give up on wpgs side.
Also is PLD the #1 C now? I think he’s the main piece going forward.

You know, I've never been a "blame the coach" kind of guy, I always lay it more on the players. But after 8 years (or whatever it is) of the same meh PP and PK numbers, except for the Conference Finals run, with plenty of player turnover, there really is only one person left to look at, as you say.

Just imagine this Top 9
Connor-Dubois-Ehlers
Copp-Schiefele-Boeser
Stastny-Lowry-Wheeler</div></div>
I’d be all for the jets being in on Boeser. But I like Schmidt a lot, if there’s a way to keep both I would. Maybe someway to do Heinola with DeMelo and a pick and other pieces for Boeser and Hamonic during the off-season.

Return of Jets Elite Top 9 with Improved Gus as 4th line C and help with PK
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FuelYourJets</b></div><div>Gustafsson has played really good for the Jets when he played 22 games on the 4th C role at 19 yrs old. Good defensive game at 19 in the NHL. But after only able to play 4 games in 2021-2022, he was sent down to the AHL where he grew stronger offensively and strong 2 way game. Since being sent down he has 34 Points in 43 games. Gustafsson is a key piece in a Penalty Kill that is around 87.7 percent and 2nd in the AHL. Jets have a struggling PK that is around 30th. Toninato isn't gonna help with the Penalty Kill, he isn't a Penalty specialist. Gustafsson has a strong defensive 2 way game, and is very good at killing Penalties. Gus is also good at making opportunities and scoring on opportunities. Gus is ready for the NHL.
As for Vesalainen, he costs way too much and would only leave around $500K in a 22 player roster. Sending Vesalainen down allows an extra $200K that would allow a player at minimum wage, so you can have a 23 man roster ready for the playoffs. Vesalainen would also get a lot more ice time and opportunities in the AHL, he could play a lot of time with Perfetti and Heinola while they are still playing in the AHL.</div></div>
The Pk sucks cause its extremely passive and many of the penalty killers are very slow.
The PK has looked better with defensively challenged Connor and Wheeler on it compared to supposedly defensively good Lowry and Copp, wonder why that is... 🤔

Return of Jets Elite Top 9 with Improved Gus as 4th line C and help with PK
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FuelYourJets</b></div><div>I have no arguments against Copp... I've always believed in Copp, and believed he could get points before the 2020-2021 season. I'd be fine with Copp in top 6.
It's just Copp-Lowry-Appleton were able to play against the best and still do amazing, with a weak D last year. It's just they mix well together. Appleton has a more offensive grind that suits Copp's game, that does good with Lowry's good 2 way positioning. Along with Copp and Lowry with their strong chemistry all this time together, they were able to play against the best and still put up points. Copp got majority of his points playing outside of the Top 6 and created an Elite Top 9 that could shut down teams and out score teams with a weak D last year.
Even if we get Appleton back and he plays the 4th line RW, I think it would definitely be worth it to bring Appleton back. Make him challenge other's for the opportunities. He has a lot of Chemistry with our team game and understands our Players already having played with them for years. If Appleton is rejuvenated into an even better player than we expect, then it would only make it more rewarding.</div></div>
I see what you’re saying for sure, but it’s undeniable that Copp becomes an offensive black hole when he plays with Lowry. Before moving into the top 6, the most points he ever had was 28 in 82 and that was with Lowry. The jets need secondary scoring, putting Copp with Lowry immediately takes that away. He’s on pace for 63 points this year. Crushing any of his previous career bests. I just think it would be counterproductive to move him back.
I think if Appleton could be had for a 5th or even just dumping beau for him I’d do it. Because it’s worth the chance. If he doesn’t work or mesh again, they didn’t give up much.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FuelYourJets</b></div><div>Appleton is near minimum wage, and has been underutilized in a system he doesn't get enough opportunities or ice time to get used to the teams transition game. The team is still full of a lot of new players that haven't played more than a year together, and it's not on one player struggling. It could be a draining atmosphere, and the team isn't doing good... Appleton has proven he is good with the Jets players and understands the players and the System.
Sometimes you gotta be willing to pay extra to get the pieces that you're missing to finish your puzzle, either ways it wouldn't be finished. After all the pieces are together, you can see the big picture and you wouldn't have to spend anymore. Then it will be other's paying us premiums to get the Pieces they need, by then we will have other pieces that can have a different look to the Puzzle.</div></div>
I think the one key thing you’re forgetting is how much of an offensive black hole Copp becomes with Lowry. The jets need him to produce, he’s become a mainstay in the top 6. Putting him back with Lowry would be a catastrophic mistake.
I think Appleton would be a good piece. But realistically he’s not going to be that much of an upgrade over what the jets currently have. He was apart of an awful PK group last year, wouldn’t make a difference on the PK, almost the same argument you make about Toninato. I’d rather see vesalainen stay with Lowry and Stastny.
I understand your idea, but it creates more problems than it solves. Copp needs to be in the top 6.
Gustafsson needs to play with the jets. He’s ready and it’s insane that he hasn’t been called up. Like you said a main piece in an extremely good Moose PK, an area jets need desperate help in. Also gives Perfetti the opportunity to take over that top C position in the AHL.
Also Jets would be smart to start extension talks with Dubois during the season.

It be great to have Appleton back! But definetly for a low rounder or to dump Beaulieu. But Copp is doing well on the 2nd line so I'd keep him there. With the idea of Appleton back, I'd do the forward lines like this:
Connor - Dubois - Svech
Copp - Scheiflie - Ehlers
Stastny - Lowry - Wheeler
Vesay - Gustoff - Appleton
Harkins
Morrissey - Schmidt
Dillion - Poink
Stanley - DDM
Beaulieu
Helly

It would be nice to have Appleton back, but he's done nothing to be worth a comparable player and a 3rd even with retention. If a 4th or lower on its own doesn't do it, Winnipeg should walk away.

Yeah, but since they are throwing in 2 high end prospects and EDM only 1, LA gives the 2nd and 3rd. Only issue I just noticed is that BUF retains 50% on Reinhart, and he's an RFA, so there will be no salary retention. EDM will have to clear space elsewhere, or walk from Nuge
