I think if STL is retaining money on the contract WPG would need a sweetner. With the majority of the Jets coming back next year we might have the cap room to take on Faulk's whole contract and not have to give up too much to get him. That would spell the end of Dillion though. Which I'm very much ok with.

Jets Agree!!!!!
I have been thinking about what it would take for the Jets to acquire Toffoli. Would the NJD be in need of a player like Mason Appleton? he is a RW bottom 6 player.

As you can probably understand trading Parayko in division is a nightmare waiting to happen. It puts us in a full blown rebuild and then we have to watch Parayko on a different team multiple times per year. Unless you guys have a young very projectable 1D I dont see Parayko being moved.</div></div>
I would be willing to listen to what it would take to acquire Faulk. But yes I can 100% agree with trading away a big piece within the division would potentially be adding salt to the wound. The Jets have Elias Salmonsson coming up but there would be no way we move him especially in the division. He should be NHL ready in 2-3 years (hopefully sooner) but watching him multiple times a year destroy the Jets would not be fun at all. But Faulk coming in would allow the Jets not to rush Salmonsson into the NHL.

Sundqvist would be a great pick up for WPG but yeah I agree that STL probably holds on to him. I have a question for you as a STL fan. Do you see one of your defensemen being traded at the deadline or in the offseason? If so who? I was looking because WPG needs a solid RHD defenseman and Parayko would be my ideal player for WPG. interested to hear your thoughts about what STL would be looking for a return for Parayko.

Absolutely zero interest in the MTL trade</div></div>
So with Lucius being out for the season now with ankle surgery would Barron be a piece to acquire Lindholm.
WIth the MTL trade I heard from a habs fan that Ylonen might be difficult to acquire hence why I added Armia to the deal as a cap dump for MTL. But like someone else posted here Armia would be a great piece for WPG who is familiar with Armia and how he plays. He can add a major boost to the PK (which is greatly needed), had chemistry with Lowry in the past and also can play the right side. All great things to add to a contending team like WPG.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Should take out Tanev, he fills no need.
No need to make a lateral move at best with Appleton and Barron. Why does everyone want to mess with one of the best teams in the league to add a cap dump and a nothing bottom sixer or other similar filler?
Why risk the chemistry for such marginal pieces?</div></div>
If Heinola gets into the lineup Tanev would be a great thing for him. Tanev was great for Quinn Hughes in Vancouver. I'm not saying Heinola is at the same level as Hughes but Heinola can create alot of offense and having a guy like Tanev on his pairing might give him the freedom to generate offense.
I'm trading Appleton and Barron for players who have right hand shots to play the right side. We have alot of left hand wingers already. Ylonen is a young player who could be a great depth add for now and future. Armia had some chemistry with Lowry in the past and he is more defensive responsible than Appleton.
These adds to me would not mess too much with the chemistry in the room.

IMO Lindholm should be the only add the Jets make at the deadline and if the cost is Lucius, 2024 1st round and hopefully Stanley I do that in a heartbeat. Lucius is far behind Lambert as forward prospects go and we have some great potential depth at forward coming up. Rutger, Barlow, Lambert, Wagner, and Zhilkin.

I may be very wrong about this but I'm just not sure that Chychrun would be a good fit for the Jets. I think he is very overrated. But it could be because he is playing for a very under achieving Ottawa team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>imo a contending team would use Monahan in a 3C role 5v5, and for secondary special team units (both PP and PK). He's literally been one of the better face off guys in the league this year with over 600 draws at almost 58%. What a team would want to pay for that is definitely up for debate.
but to each their own. Considering WIN is currently 6th worst in face offs this year. I think there would be a realistic interest in him.</div></div>
WPG already has a great 3c in Lowry. WPG needs a 2c that if needed to could be a 1c. Lindholm is that player. Lindholm is also near the top of the league for faceoffs won. Yes Monahan is having a great year and great for MTL and him to probably allow him to be moved at the deadline for good pieces for MTL and him to go to a contender. But that team isn't WPG.

Don't know if Savard moves the needle all that much, and not saying he isn't worth what's offered here, but I think Morgan Barron provides alot for the Jets and would be sorry to see him go.</div></div>
IF he would resigning in WPG it would have to depend on how they do with the stanley cup run. Also the money and term would have to be there. Which it could be with WPG with the salary cap going up. I think if the Jets make the cup finals and the money/ term are there from WPG I can see him resigning in WPG.
I think he would be an slight improvement to Schmidt. Also having another right hand shot dman and veteran to play with Samberg or even Heinola would be a nice thing to have. Also like I said in a different post Demelo is a UFA at the end of the year and Savard has another year remaining on his contract with will help IF demelo signs elsewhere. Which I think he will. I think a team will offer him more $$$ than WPG and he would be foolish not to take that. which will suck.

Would WIN really be ok moving M.Barron??? Very rare for a contending team to move a roster player. They tend to just want to add. From a MTL's perspective, WIN could try for both Savard and Monahan, or maybe even Evans for PK / Faceoffs.</div></div>
Monahan is a big NO from me. I don't trust his recent history to be a top 2 centre. WPG has a lot of left hand shot LW's. Especially with Perfetti playing LW. Barron is a really good young player but the return would help the Jets chances at winning a stanley cup. Sometimes teams need to lose good players for that to happen

A guy who is 33 playing on a stanley cup contending team would help that decision a little bit. But like you said he has no trade protection so he would have to report to WPG. Now once he gets here and gets to know the city he might really like it. It worked for Nino.

Too much for Lindholm</div></div>
Sometimes you need to overpay to get players that are needed to the lineup. WPG needs Lindholm for the cup run. Look at the lineup they are putting out tonight against the Isles. Lowry at top line centre. LOVE Lowry but he isn't a top line centre. Also the pieces going to Calgary are players that WPG can replace within the organization but also helps out Calgary.
With MTL Savard is a great addition to WPG that is lacking with a right hand shot defensmen. Also he has another year left on his contract after this year helps with the potential loss of Demelo signing elsewhere in the offseason.

Tanev 5 years ago couldn't stay healthy and stay in the lineup. Tanev has been and continues to be a solid piece on the defense. The past 4 years he has been exactly what the Jets need. a guy who blocks shots and can really help on the PK. What area do the Jets need help on the most? It's special teams!! trading for Tanev wouldn't shake up the roster at all and it would improve the defense. Also bringing in a guy like Tanev to the Jets would boost the players I think with watching him sacrifice the body.

Winnipeg absolutely has a need for Tanev. Guy is a shut down defender that plays on the right side with a right hand shot. He is on the last year of his deal and could provide a great help on the right side and more importantly on the PK. That being said I would not take Tanev at his full cap hit. Calgary would have to take on 1/2 that contract for me to trade for Tanev.

Thanks for the insight to the Hawks. I wasn't sure what they had in their system for defensemen prospects. I thought Stanley would give them a young big defensemen that has played enough NHL games to get them to next year. Stanley is on a 1 year deal.
I very much agree about the Schmidt contract. I also figured the Hawks could be able to take on his full contract and also give veteran leadership to whatever prospects they have on defense. Kind of like what Perry and Foligno provide to the forwards.

Sure, but are the SJS willing to part with them during their rebuild? I would highly doubt it. Couture, Duclair, Vlasic, Granlund, Hertl, and Hoffman are all going to be moved but none of those players would improve the Jets. so for those reasons I would stay away from SJS when it comes to adding.
