Minnesota.
A forward they can't afford for their biggest and heaviest defenseman on a D-core that already lacks size. The picks given up just make it worse too.

Buffalo TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>Anderson is playing better than Fleury. Sabres only need to improve d depth and get Mittlestadt away from Granato</div></div>
Barely, and not enough for Minnesota to justify trading for him. Besides, Flower's numbers are skewed.
Take away the first 3 games where Flower and the team allowed 20 goals against and his first game back from injury where he allowed 6 against as well, his goals against number is basically identical to Anderson's. They're actually playing at the same level.
There's also the fact that Minnesota's defense has been more porous than Buffalo's this year, especially to start the year, so Fleury had been seeing twice the shots Anderson did. Anderson's numbers would have plummeted if he were in Minnesota. But the defense has rebounded nicely since late November and been the 3rd best defense in the league since then.
In short, the team in front of them is the greater cause and effect of why their numbers look the way they do. But on a closer inspection, they've played at the same level all year long. The QS graph at the bottom of the link I provided supports that.

Whats the market going to be for Reimer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Augustus</b></div><div>Minnesota has played their way back into the conversation. I think a 2nd round pick would be worth giving up to have Reimer as insurance in case Fleury dips or gets hurt, or Gustavsson does the same - not sure how Gustavsson has been faring but I'd rather have a veteran like Reimer in there for a playoff run.</div></div>
Gustavsson has been stellar this year and his stats blow Reimer out of the water. He has looked every bit what you'd expect from your 1B/Backup goaltender thus far.
Fleury's number look worse than they actually are. They're skewed from the first three games when he AND THE TEAM allowed 20 goals through their first 9 periods of the season and from his first game back from injury. He's otherwise been extremely solid for us this year.
The Wild have a fair amount of issues, but goaltending isn't one of them.
But you can compare the three yourself by checking out the provided link here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EccE</b></div><div>Yep, something has to happen. Problem is, Goli has a NMC and can control his faith....</div></div>
Yeah that’s complicates it. Id imagine Guerin and Goose have discussed it a bit. Who knows…im over analyzing, but i kinda wonder if Goose is gonna have a hard think over the holidays with family time and use that to re-assess. Year end brings that out in ppl.
My hunch is that we’ll possibly hear some speculation from Russo post trade freeze. Either in the way of potential offseason retirement or a deal, idk

2023 TDL - Setting up the Habs next Offseason
Guerin wasn't interested in Monahan when Calgary was trying to give him away. I don't see how he'd suddenly want to pay a 1st for him now. Monahan also doesn't put us over the edge into true contender status so it doesn't really make sense to trade for him (or any big name rental, really).

Minnesota 100% declines that. JEE being involved is an instant deal break. There is a base for Horvat for Dumba but JEE and Myers is a joke of a comparison

Some BUF have completely lost their marbles on Mitts.
They were drafted in the same draft class.

Player 2: 35G 53A
What a great tweak.</div></div>
208 games| 35g 53a 88p| -50 |77 hits: skilled top 6 forward
90 games| 8g 12a 20p (46 over 208 games)| +/- 0 |226 hits (502 over 208 games): checking line forward
Comparing apples to oranges and the orange still looks better in context

MIN needs true C1Isles Have C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles5513</b></div><div>Yeah but he was getting high end opportunities last year on the power play. And he generated a lot of high end opportunities in his own right.</div></div>
I mean, he got 5 seconds more powerplay-time than in 20-21. Scored 4 more power play goals.
Sure his offensive zone start % jumped a lot, but still, most of his season was driven by a high shooting percentage that is bound to drop. If not completely to normal, at least to somewhere around 15-16%. So around 25-27 goals should be expected, and that's really good for a 31-year-old

The only player on the Islanders worth considering moving Boldy for is Barzal. And frankly I don't know if either team does that.

Yeah, he is good for ~25 goals a year. Very respectable, but not worth the pieces in this trade

I wouldn't call Nelson a 1C. Last year seems like an anomaly for a 30-year-old. He is a good top6 guy but those don't get you young guns like Boldy in a trade

Cap Squeeze
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>XLR0</b></div><div>we need a good center for Kap</div></div>
We do, and the hope is that Rossi develops into that role, but that's going to be a very tough need to fill if he doesn't. We don't have the cap space to sign one and there's nobody on our roster that we could necessarily afford to trade to get one.

Leverage Cap and Send Kuli back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EccE</b></div><div>I love the general idea of this trade. Hörnqvist is not a long-term commitment, brings grit and experience and is a great net-front presence. Kulikov doesn't have a place in our lineup, in my opinion. It's a clear upgrade to our lineup.
For Florida, the move clears cap and brings in a defenseman they need, even more now that Weegar is gone. I doubt any picks would need to be involved; Guerin likes to repeat the mantra that all a trade needs to be is "fair". And this trade is fair.</div></div>
That was exactly the thought process. FL moves some money and gets a nice depth piece in Kuli to help backfill the loss of Weegar. MN gets a utility guy with some grit that can be shuffled around in a young lineup.
I can’t see it happening, but I think it’s worthy of consideration

You’re crazy if you think that Minnesota, who are already in enough cap trouble already. Are going take on an insane contract of a 33 year old player that lasts four more years while also giving up a good defensive prospect and a first round pick. Wild fans are not gonna like this trade lol.
