Im pretty sure they would do a Reinbacher for Askarov trade not that the Habs even consider that one. They already rejected it at the draft as the Preds wanted that pick (it was confirmed) and hearsay was that they wanted Reinbacher.
Yeah, obviously MTL doesn't consider Askarov for Reinbacher - they could have had considerably more than that at the draft, but clearly Reinbacher was their guy. I just don't think NSH felt the same about the player. Poile & Trotz seemed to be going hard for the most impactful forward they could get with their top pick. ASP was still available at 15OA, and he seems like the prototypical offensive defenseman NSH has had so much success developing, yet they still went for a forward. I wonder how many Habs fans would make the rumoured Askarov, 15OA & 24OA for 5OA trade, with the benefit of hindsight? MTL could still have landed a top defenseman in ASP, plus Askarov, and another top prospect.

You can disagree with the value of players involved. But at least try and make sense in your irrational player evals in your condescending retort.
Do you work for Nashville? Then you don't know anything beyond what everyone else knows.
Good day.
You come at me with "Do YoU wORk fOr NAsHvIlle?", then accuse me of being condescending? Okay, guy. At least explain what parts you're so offended by. That Harris and Desmith would be sent to the A, if NSH had them? NSH already has a better, cheaper, younger backup than DeSmith. Barring having an amazing training camp, DeSmith gets sent down. Even if he does outperform Lankinen, then NSH has to risk losing Lankinen for nothing on waivers. There's nothing for the Preds to gain by acquiring DeSmith.
Harris gets sent down, mainly due to his still having waivers exemption. NSH already has a full compliment of NHL defensemen in Josi, Barrie, McDonagh, Fabbro, Schenn, Lauzon & Carrier. Even if you feel Harris can win a #6-7 defenseman spot away from Lauzon or Carrier, his waiver status pretty much ensures Harris is the one getting demoted. Come 24-25, NSH still has the logjam at LD I mentioned in my initial post, and Harris isn't waiver exempt anymore. Neither of these players help NSH, and I think we can both agree that turning an 11OA pick NSH is still very high on into a protected 1st five years later is bad asset management for them. The rest of the package doesn't come close to making up the difference for them.
You can disagree with my opinions, but at least offer some of your own, instead of just projecting your own irrationality and condescension onto others.
