<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyDanz</b></div><div>Since I spent some time sharing the video and scouting of Lundkvist with the scouts who were working him up (during my previous time as a liason for Central Registry, via the NHLPA's insurance provider), I think it's fair to say I can see the ceiling on him.

Let me also say, that the 2018 draft class has the potential to be on the level of 2003 and 2005's classes. Time will tell.

As an aside, I suspect that a Dahlin-Lundkvist pairing isn't just about pairing a couple of Swedish kids; it's about the potential of taking the pressure off what has been a clearly overwhelmed Dahlin. While I'm sure Owen Power will eventually do that, helping this very talented young man (Dahlin) get closer to a comfortable, consistent game ought to
be opportune to the Sabres.

Anyway, I'm not interested in a pissing match. I liked the original idea of Krebs, which I stated to the original author. I thought [Thompson], because a future move that's about cost-cutting (I.e. Strome being allowed to leave as a UFA, supplanted by someone like Thompson, so it was preemptive in theory) in its way.</div></div> From your comment it appears we agree.
Thank you very much for your lengthy answer.
I have to laugh at how many Sabre ACGM who over rate their players.
It is obvious that Krebs for Lundqvist is a great idea for both teams that I am surprised this is the first post with this trade..
I believe each team is trading away an asset from a position of strength (Fox, Trouba, Schneider) and receiving an asset where it needs help.
This is a perfect trade for the Sabres, I hope it would be for the Rangers as well.

If I may be so bold, who you are to have been privileged to view the scouting videos.
I would have loved to have seen those.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YoucancallmeHockeyman</b></div><div>I appreciate your sound reply. I was hoping to achieve the stability your team desperately needs in a few ways:

1. By dealing the two draft picks, the Sabres can grab Askarov now, which sets up a future tandem with Georgiev. (As a Ranger fan, I think the Rangers knock off the Hurricanes, and places them as the higher draft slot).

2. Filling in the top two center spots is more cost-effective than having a cantankerous lone center and hoping someone will come along to fill in the other. Plus, if a CBO does arise, it's not hard to imagine that Okposo/Skinner is that candidate.

2a. With a bit more cash to work with, a certain defenseman currently in St. Louis and a left winger in Arizona could be in your locker room by the start of next season. And there will be something left over for Dahlin when his deal expiries, as more money can be freed up following the expansion draft.

It's important that stability does come to the Sabre organization.

Thank you. I didn't want to undercut my second favorite team. But, with a stud like Dach ready to go, the Hawks would be foolish to give Strome cash and keep Dach down.

That said, both Strome brother's being close to home in a place where minutes can be theirs, is just sense, IMO. They won't break the bank; they can continue to refine their careers. Stabilizing the Sabres' top six can reenergize them and the fan base. And as I mentioned, with money to spend, who knows what else they can do to balance out the team.

It seems to me that Eichel will want both a high-profile opportunity and a shot at winning. This isn't to sell Zibanejad short, but hey, Eichel is a franchise player. And, being reunited with David Quinn can only bring stability to this frustrated player.</div></div>

A thoughtful trader is rarely seen on here. Keep it up.

Strome has 18 G (goals) this season and last season with NYR had 18 G (in 7 less games). Compared to 15 A (assists) last season with NYR and 41 A this season. Yes, Strome has been helped this season by playing with Panarin. Comparing this year and last year the difference is statistically minus a G or 2 and plus 26A.

Last season Strome played mostly 3rd line center behind Zibanejad and Hayes and some RW. What I believe and what I believe the Rangers believe is that Strome is a solid 2 way center that could consistently put up 20 plus goals and about 20 A as a 3rd line center and if put with top line talent could be almost a point per game player. I believe your charts are also in agreement with this line of thinking.

Another reason Gorton is in no rush to trade Strome (unless it's an offer he can't refuse) and why he'd much rather sign Strome for 3-4 more years, is lineup depth. If at some point another center is acquired or Chytil and for example Andersson or Hendriksson become the 2-3 centers, Strome can easily move to RW and always move back to center is theirs an injury or if the young center(s) play drops off.

The Rangers do not have to trade Strome, especially after trading Skjei and they are very happy with how he's played 2nd and 3rd line center, as well as RW. So regardless of what your charts say or what others on this site and some NYR fans say... If Gorton trades Strome, the return package will have the value of a middle tiered 2 line center or Gorton won't trade him. Regardless of charts or others opinions.
