Lisa Dillmans Trade Targets for LA
F<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>Who is considered equally good? Someone like Kupari or Madden? I'm not familiar enough with Bean's potential to judge.
I don't think the Kings would be willing to trade Turcotte or Vilardi, and I don't think they'd be willing to move a winger, but I think guys like Akil Thomas, Tyler Madden, and Rasmus Kupari would be on the table if they felt the need to shore up the LHD pipeline.</div></div>
For a Top-4 D/PP QB, it would likely cost Vilardi. Maybe not as dramatic given a Byfield draft but Bean is more valuable to the Canes than a surface view may indicate. He’ll likely be the PP2 QB next year and if Dougie’s extension goes south, he could be the main man in another season. He’s had the luxury of ripening on the vine ( a la the old Detroit mindset). The Canes deep D Corps has allowed it but he’s ready to slot in cheaply next season and I think he’s a big part of the master plan.

That doesn’t apply since your owner/management doesn’t believe in a rebuild. ;)

With all due respect, he’s a top six centerman who’s SEVEN years younger.

I disagree, Tuch is also having a slow year. Jake is healthy but the fit hasn’t been ideal. That doesn’t magically wipe away the guy’s talent. If you wait until he’s a Norris Trophy candidate, he wouldn’t be available anymore. Having said that, I addressed it by adding our top RW prospect. This trade is more than fair but like with any trade, it either works or it doesn’t.

Nice to see I can get some spicy discussion going. I actually think Jake is finding his groove and I’m betting they hold on to their entire d-corps for a playoff run. But I also think they may want to make a move and still have space for Willy to return.

Going back to the well
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>The patient approach with Svech would have been to send him back to the OHL, don't forget that. Necas has had 3 years since he's been drafted, he's looked too good for Charlotte. We had him up on the 3rd line last year and it was not worth his ice time. Necas needs top 6 ice time, and Bennett is not a top 6 forward. It makes no sense to have Sam Bennett over Necas. A good comparison I've heard for Bennett is Zach Boychuk. His game looks good, he just can't breakout. Look at where Boychuk is now, I wouldn't want to take the risk on Bennett. He's had a much better supporting cast over in Calgary than we can offer him in Carolina, don't risk the trade</div></div>
Do you know what position he played in the Calder Cup final? I stand by my lineup and you’re entitled to your opinion, I just don’t happen to share it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>If Forsberg is the backup ahead of Ned, I will go ballistic. Either way it looks like Reimer is here to stay. The Bennett trade.... I don 't hate it, I don't love it. I'm not sold on Sam Bennett, especially considering he'd be above Necas in the lineup Here.</div></div>
It’s impractical to rush Necas. He’ll be 2C at some point but he needs to be brought along slowly. If you pair him with Haula, he can find his NHL footing and at some point swap positions while retaining the chemistry that they will develop. The patient approach was also successful with Svechnikov. It wasn’t about his rookie year, it was about his long term development.

I agree. Our GM has stated that Pesce wasn’t available, so Faulk makes the most sense. Also, he and Buff are good friends and he’s played for Maurice.

I don’t mind the Kreider trade, assuming an extension is signed. It would be a solid addition for CAR.

Offseason fine tuning
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I don't know that saving $1.25M is much cap relief for the Lightning. I think that if they trade Miller, it will be for draft picks. In fact, now that they have their first-rounder back, their first call is probably going to be to Colorado for that #16.</div></div>
It’s a fair point and I explored other options like including Callahan & Darling in the trade. TBL could either buy him out or bury him in the AHL. That would give them more space.

Offseason fine tuning
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Buddy, you can bring back Haydn Fleury whos younger and better than Jordie Benn, that’s a waste of a mil, as for the trade, you want to take on a Tampa cap dump for Faulk and 2 late round picks? Miller is a good player, but he isn’t worth his contract, this makes no sense for Carolina. Miller isn’t an improvement on Staal, and with necas on his way, there’s no need for another C</div></div>
I couldn’t disagree more. Our center depth is atrocious and hurt us in the postseason. Miller can play all three forward positions, is Nino’s size and can play with an edge. Fleury is still in the system but I’m not sold on what to do with him quite yet. I haven’t given up on him but Bean May be a better special teams answer. IMO option, this team needs a crease clearing DMan. Maybe not for 82 games a year but one that can be deployed when the refs swallow their whistles. BTw, did you read the explanation?

Drouin isn’t worth that and the Canes wouldn’t likely make such a deal. He doesn’t fit the mold of the hard working, team-first player that they covet.

To even that trade out a bit more for Carolina you would need to take back Darling. He can be bought out, unlike Marleau. Leafs have plenty of money, just no cap space. Foegele is a folk hero now so that won’t work. A more accurate trade would be Faulk + Darling to TOR for Kap + Marleau + 4Rd pick.

That package won’t get the phone answered. You’d need a young established top six forward, with term, to get anywhere near Pesce. You’d have better luck swapping Faulk for Schenn, unless STL is planning on resigning him.
