Vancouver Canucks signed Vasily Podkolzin (2 Years / $1,000,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_Habs_fan</b></div><div>KHL salaries are not as high as you think, the best KHL players make pennies compared to the best NHL players</div></div>
a quick google says top salaries in KHL are in the 1.5-2mil range. I dont know if its the draw some people think it is, its not the days of early KHL where oligarchs were throwing ridiculous sums of money at actual NHL stars.
Now I dont know how much of a draw playing in the motherland is, but if minimum NHL salaries are likely higher than avg in KHL so it probably makes more sense to try your luck in the NHL

Super acgms that deem him overpaid by 100k.

Obviously hasn’t been what you’d hope out of a 10OA pick, but he’s been pretty solid defensively and physically since being called up this year. Hoping for a Hoglander like breakout next year, or at least some offense, but at worst is a solid defensive bottom 6 guy

Eh, barely more than league minimum; but, I wonder to what extent that are throwing a few extra $$$ in there just to keep him from bolting to the KHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_Habs_fan</b></div><div>Why should our top 2 defenceman be outproducing PLD? There's more to hockey than offense. Anyways, the Habs wouldn't want 8.5 of PLD, we're very happy with our core. We also arguably have 5 better skaters than PLD. Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Matheson. Then you add Newhook (8 less points than PLD and has played 27 less games), Dach (if he could stay healthy), Guhle has been very good too.</div></div>
Just add him to your ignore list. Simply look at his Post/Like ratio, clearly just a troll who's doing it for attention.

I don't know what having 5 guys scoring more has anything to do with it. He's making 8.5 Million, playing 4th line 5v5, and is higher paid than every Montreal forward.

I think they structured this as a ATO and then will formally sign him once the year is over.
Hes a good defensive prospect who can skate better than most undrafted players at his size.

The Sharks get back a prospect who I am a very big fan of and a 1st, while also moving off of a terrible contract. Hertl will be extremely good in Vegas for the next 3 - 4 years, which is perfect for them. That center depth is terrifying. I like it for both sides to be completely honest, but if I had to pick a winner its obviously going to be Vegas</div></div>
I am just beyond confused as to why people are destroying SJ over this. It’s a fine return for a player they have no more need for.

Because SJ has no healthy goalies (Vanecek and Blackwood are on IR). It looks like they’ll run Magnus Chrona and Devin Cooley (lol) as a tandem

Gonna be in minority here I think but San Jose did well.
Edstrom is a good prospect and has raised his stock since his DY, 1st is a good asset. Hertl had no worth to San Jose. They were so far ****ed by Doug WIlson, that Hertl had no chance of playoff games with San Jose for the duration of his contract the moment he signed it. Therefore he was no worth to San Jose. The only bad part of it is the retention slot being burned up. However this was the most he was ever gonna get for Hertl most likely.
Just another move that puts San Jose ahead in their rebuild.

This is a Fair Deal that SJS win in the long-run. VEG gets a decent player with term but he’s 30, so likely only has a couple decent seasons left in him whereas SJS get a 1st + Top Prospect, which may become a Star and they open up Cap Space to sign a Younger Player that fits their rebuild
Not a Fan of Grier as a Manager, but I don’t mind this one for the Sharks
