Why would NSH offer up Trenin and Ingram to be selected in expansion
I would understand if ur enticing them to take a player but those 2 on their own doesnt make sense

Binnington helped to lead his team to being Stanley Cup Champions. Binnington and Saros have pretty similar stat lines so I'd say Binnington is probably a decent comparable. Binnington's price would be inflated by having a cup so Saros should come in a tad under Binnington.
Why is Seattle getting two young players? They can only select 1 and they aren't taking a bad contract.

It also makes it easier for them to change their expansion plans into 8-1 and protect Ekholm. I honestly don't think the Arvidsson is a sign that NSH are sellers. He hasnt been the same player the last few years, Poile in his presser pretty much said the player and the team both thought theyd be better off parting ways. I don't think that trade would be enough for NSH either.

Leafs Offseason Rielly Trade Edition
Sorry, but that is brutal value headed to the Preds. There isn't a single piece there that would get them to consider trading either of those players you're asking for.

Leafs Offseason Rielly Trade Edition
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafs2022</b></div><div>Reports are Rielly's trade value is that of a highly touted prospect and a first. Hallander is a projected middle six center. I wouldn't expect them to accept this but this with a second pair defenceman and a second round pick is not a bad deal for two guys on expiring contracts. I'm also accounting for what they valued Arviddson at.</div></div>
Rielly has a lot less value to the Preds than Ekholm does, even before you start asking for retention. Middle six seems a little optimistic on Hallander to me. I think he'll be a fine bottom sixer one day, but everyone has a few guys like him in their prospect pool already. Holl doesn't do anything for NSH - they already have Ellis, Carrier, Fabbro, and Benning on the right side. Holl would be fighting with Benning for the opportunity to be the healthy scratch. Much like your expectations for Rielly, the Preds would expect a 1st+ for each of Ekholm and Forsberg. I'm afraid you're not offering anything NSH would want.

I could definitely see this happening. I think I'd protect Forsberg, Kunin, and Trenin personally. Leave the aging forwards who have underperformed the last couple of years available to be picked. If Seattle happens to give you $8M in cap space, take full advantage of it.
Unfortunately, I also agree with the summary. Poile wants a cup too badly to tear it down, even though that's what this team probably needs. It won't happen until he retires.

I cant see any team offering more than a 2nd and 3rd for Arvidsson, happy with that deal.
Tomasino will be in, Granlund will be back
Grimaldi needs to be flipped for a mid to late pick, it will open up another 2mil
I dont mind losing Trenin, but I'd rather lose Cousins/Grimaldi if they are incorporating picks in the selection process

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bradolz</b></div><div>I'm not as low on those guys as most people. Honestly, I think Seattle would seriously consider either of those guys. I have a sneaking suspicion that Johansen could end up out there since he's a BC guy. He's not super productive, but he'd definitely be one of the best centers available and he'd help Seattle get to the cap minimum lol. Honestly, I think Seattle would be pretty lucky to get either one of 'em. If Nashville does let either guy go, it spells full rebuild and I just don't think that's the route they would or should go. My two cents. No guarantee that full rebuilds result in getting a generational talent like Wright and Bedard are supposed to be. It's simply too costly to be at the bottom of the league.</div></div>
Makes sense and I definitely see your pont here. I'm trying not to be too low on them either, but I think if you'd offer them both by exposing them it'd be even more intreaguing for Seattle to take one of them, since they have the choice. For the Preds getting rid of either one of them (imo preferably Johansen b/c I think overall Duchene is the better player with still more upside) means cap space in order to bring in FAs on better deals.

I just don't think an NHL GM leaves that decision up to chance. I'm sure they have a preference as to who they move forward with if it's not both of them. Essentially, Poile will not let another franchise decide our future. That's my logic anyways.</div></div>
OMG excuse my writing ("intreaguing"? what was I thinking?). :D :D
I guess you're right on the subject matter. If they have a favorite they'll protect him (although I'd go for Duchene, I think it'd be Johansen) and try to dangle the other one as an unprotected carot in front of Seattle.

Very much agree we are a bubble team but I kinda think that is the point of the retool. I wouldn't hate another top 15 pick. But signing one of these FAs just to squeak into the first round and lose isn't helpful at all. I'd rather give the young guys a chance.

Leafs would still have to get rid of 3m more cap to make that trade. No, I gotta think the Leafs trade Johnsson for not very much in futures, keep Mikheyov and the pick and then have enough cap for a Dman like DeMelo.
Like the the Nashville/Minni trade for needs of both teams. But gotta think Duchene at 8m X 6 years is unpalatable for Minni. Plus Duchene's 7 team trade list might be a factor.

Who needs a Center
Ottawa doesn’t have any incentive to do this deal. Bonino @ $2.4MM for 1 year is fine, but the Sens have a lot of forwards, so to pay a 2nd for an unnecessary player doesn’t make sense. Nashville needs to make it worthwhile for Ottawa. They need to pay Ottawa an asset to take Bonino, and his contract.
Ottawa centre depth with NHL experience
White
Norris
Tierney
L.Brown
Anisimov
Chlapik
N.Paul
And of course they could have Stutzle or Byfield, each would get at least a 9 game tryout.

Bad on paper
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bradolz</b></div><div>We shall see! I agree with your checklist for the most part. However, I think Sissons is a big part of the youth movement. His TOI dipped when Duchene came in last year and he got knocked further down the totem pole despite the long-term deal. I think he deserves a real shot to move up the depth chart. Bonino AND Turris get in the way of that happening. I want to see Sissons get a shot at establishing himself as our 3rd line center, or even moving up to help shore up 2nd line. You don’t sign a guy for 7 years just to pigeon-hole him in on the 4th line.
Agree that we should get a little veteran depth on Defense, although I’m not as deadest on burying Tinordi back in the AHL as most others are. I like Nutivaara with Columbus since they have a plethora and need to make room for RFAs.
For the record, I hate that Austin Watson is in this lineup. Don’t know what we can do with him, so I hope we do get a little 4th line help too. Pitlick ain’t ready yet for sure.</div></div>
For 3rd pair help, I think Holl, Jensen, and Kempny could be options via trade or Merrill, Hutton, TVR, Rutta, Bogosian, DeMelo as options via free agency. If TOR is looking to add some grit they may even be interested in Watson - especially if they don't sign Clifford. So a Holl for Watson + 4th deal could make some sense.
On Sissons -- I've thought for a while that he could actually fill in for Smith on the Grimaldi - Bonino - Smith line pretty well. So maybe they try him at 3RW for a year and then move him to 3C the following year. And while his TOI did dip, he was still playing 3rd line minutes last season - probably due to his PK deployment. But I agree, he needs to be given better linemates than Watson and AHL call-up like much of last season.
You could even end up with something like this:
Forsberg - Johansen - Arvidsson
2nd liner - Duchene - Tolvanen
Grimaldi - Bonino - Sissons
Jarnkrok - Tomasino - Trenin

Johnson is def the worst choice. I think Killorn would be good on Nash and Gourde likely has increased his stock so I see his value costing more too

I don't see a scenario where <em><strong>both </strong></em>Turris and Bonino are traded (or bought-out in Turris's case) - I think its an either/or situation. I would be mostly OK with this roster though. I think they'll pick up a 3rd pairing defenseman through trade or free agency and keep one of Bonino/Turris, but the rest makes sense.
- add a 2nd line player via trade or free agency --- ✓✓
- inject the roster with some youth with Tolvanen, Tomasino, Trenin, Carrier, and Davies (I think Pitlick is in the AHL next year) --- ✓✓
- free up some cap space and center ice by trading/buying-out Turris or Bonino -- ✓X (only one leaves)
- add a 3rd pairing defenseman through trade or free agency --- XX
For better or worse, I think that is how Poile will tackle this off-season.
