Lets forget the Marner Jones stuff can we
Frankly, I'd rather keep Reaves and Kampf and trade down if necessary to get more prospects
Reaves is, kind of, helping the culture and Kampf is needed bc without him, their PK is awful

I like the pick ups for Marner but I don’t think they will give up that much grit for literally none at all. But never know, as a Leafs fan I’d love it

Treliving Ruined This Team
Dubas was awful. Rookie GM. In over his head. Arrogant and stupid, relied too much on analytics, made awful trades, overpaid his RFA stars, never got a number 1 goalie, hired a rookie AHL coach, built a soft D core. He was a horrible GM.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brad_Treliving</b></div><div>Yup couldn't have said it better myself!!!! Any cup winner would say that grit, heart, and physicality gets you through the playoffs. Skill gets you to the playoffs
I remember when everyone gloated about how Dubas robbed the Florida Panthers in the Denis Malgin for Mason Marchment deal. One is scoring NHL playoff goals right now and the other is playing pond hockey in a soft Swedish league. Also, I find it funny how Dubas thought it was wise to keep Kerfoot, Holl, Malgin, and Engvall around and let Hyman walk to the Oilers, what a massive mistake that was
Kerfoot: 0G 0A 0P in 0 playoff games
Holl: 0G 0A 0P in 0 playoff games
Malgin: 0G 0A 0P in 0 playoff games
Engvall: 0G 1A 1P in 2 playoff games
Hyman: 4G 1A 5P in 2 playoff games
Marchment: 1G 0A 1P in 2 playoff games</div></div>
Hyman was a massive blunder. He's been so consistent in Edmonton I mean 50 goal season WTF but ask Wheeler and DumDum Dom and they say they liked Pool Party's analytics better.
Jfresh literally just stans for Pool Party because he likes his funny faces as a cope as he wouldnt shut up about Puljujarvi's 'elite metrics' a few years back despite everyone with a hockey IQ seeing that Jesse Puljujarvi had zero hockey iq like many of these metrics clowns.
What is Jesse Puljujarvi doing these days?
Healthy scratch most night in Pittsburgh, 3rd or 4th team.
Yeah he's doing great!

I love it! You are triggering the hell out of these ppl that never played the game and only look at the hockey analytics that arent even standardized across the industry BUT change their model every other day or so to fit their own narrative.
Hockey analytics pioneers are not even statistics majors in most cases. They have limited specific education in the area. Some of them proficient at Math but have no idea about proper statistical methodology, conclusion, paradigms etc. Hockey is an infinitely complicated game.
<strong>Not baseball.</strong>

I want the drugs you are on?!? What the hell does immigrants have to do with the box scores..? wut
Your virtue signaling doesnt show up on the box scores either btw and you dont get goals playing on Marner's wing... because you BeLeaf.
You are a fan with zero input and players personal lives don't influence the box score whether they go by he/she/they

TK is amazing.
The Oilers need to do everything to get this kid in the offseason if it's even a possibility that he can be moved and the Flyers can take on cap which they have shown to be willing with Briere at the helm.
TK with Draisaitl and Nugent Hopkins then Hyman with Mcdavid and Holloway. Jesus Christ. Give the Flyers the Oilers next 2 1sts, Ceci, Broberg and Bourgault. Just give everything in the cupboard and they have multiple Cups in the bag as long as Mcdrai take somewhat of a discount in 2025 and beyond. Just dont hand out contracts like the Leafs and they are Golden!

You forgot luck in the finals. Gretzky said it best that there are 3 seasons in the NHL.
Canes winning that Cup in 2006 was solely because the Sabres had 3 healthy defenders left and they faced the Oilers 3rd string goalie. The most MID team to ever win a Cup! And, I think its affected their philosophy until this past TDL where they finally traded for a difference maker UFA in Guentzel.

The league is trending to be all about depth when you have expansion looming, again! This league's talent will be so water'd down that I'm worried that McDrai nevers wins a Cup unless they do it this year or the next year. Vegas put up the blue print in 2016-17 and its only gotten to be more and more of a reality.

I am dreading Marner being dealt form Toronto. Those gifs of him avoiding contact in the corners are absolutely hilarious. Please no!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>seanrushton</b></div><div>Does Tre have something for huge defensemen?</div></div>
In general when we look at all the cup winners in recent years they fielded big Dcores
VGK Cup Winner (2023) 🤷
Hague 6'6 230 pounds
McNabb 6'4 201 pounds
Pietrangelo 6'3 215 pounds
Hutton 6'3 201 pounds (7th Dman)
Whitecloud 6'2 207 pounds
Theodore 6'2 197 pounds
Martinez 6'1 210 pounds
And in that series vs. FLA we saw the damage those guys did. FLA just could not get much done with these guys preventing net drives.
Its a copy cat league and teams will see okay what do I need to help my team win lord Stanley by copying what the other guy did. Now yes small Dman can work but they need to be Makar level gifted

JT was getting roughed up by Tkachuk and Montour and Benoit comes to cover his back, a scrum breaks out. Than you see off to the side JT fixing his helmet well his team is out numbered in the scrum. JT is the perfect example of the worst captain in the league. JT= no emotion, no backing teammates. Is this a guy that you follow into the playoff battle, the answer is no.

DUBAS ELIMINATED
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ggha777</b></div><div>Not bringing back Dubas was the best move for Toronto</div></div>
I honestly don't get why Dubas took the job with PIT, short of just wanting a paycheck.
Guy already has it on his resume that he's the guy who blew Toronto's window due to bad cap management. Now he follows it up with a job that honestly, at no fault of his own, he's doomed to fail at. They blew through futures for years trying (And succeeding) to compete.
Like, if PIT wants to ride out that core group until the end, that's fine and understandable, but the consequence is a long, ugly rebuild. (Look at what it got Detroit and San Jose) Dubas is gonna be the scapegoat for it, even though their fate was sealed before he even stepped in.

I had recently used Matthew Beniers and Trevor Moore in a <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/5009247">recent post</a>. Its a center and a winger...but think they both work.
Maybe Adam Henrique could be another.
He is a savvy player, should be + on bother sides of puck at his peak...but not likely huge point-producer.
