I like the pick ups for Marner but I don’t think they will give up that much grit for literally none at all. But never know, as a Leafs fan I’d love it

yes, like Mitch is going to agree to a trade to Utah.
Mitch is a Leaf next year, whether you like it or not.

The trade is a little irrational so I think it is more about dumping players off the leaf roster than it is about sending them anywhere specific or getting any return on them.
There is a good chance all three get moved but they would be add ons to other deals.

In a situation where PIT have a serious GM I would agree.... But they took Dubas....... Please note, I am not a PIT hater, I actually like them and would hope Crosby and Malkin get one last run for it all, but I was seriously questioning their reasoning when I heard they hired .. Dubas.... WTF?? I hope the ownership wake-up and throw him out... Don't hate me.. I do hope they win before he destroys them.

Same goes for Toronto taking Treliving.. Two GMs that can't build unless they have top 5 picks and will trade away the future for quick offense without thinking of what their team needs.

I’d much rather have Dubas than Hextall or Treliving. Ownership could’ve hired Iceberg as GM after what Hextall did to this team and the entire fanbase would’ve been thrilled.

Exactly, I would also like it if he got fed up and told them that he'll accept a trade out and Montreal would be on that list, but I would not expect him to lift it for us or Ottawa.

My PERSONAL view would be he'd accept to lift for one of these teams either for contending rights, or geography + pressure, but in no particular order:
- EDM
- LAK
- VAN
- COL
- DAL
- NYR
- FLA
- TB

This doesn't mean that I'm suggesting these team would have a need for him, just saying those are the teams I think would be on his ok to trade list.

I don't disagree but you went with the one who crapped out on the team and Treliving... For me all three are a waste of a GM... I think they should've gone for Mathieu Darche who's been on the radar for some time and is under Brisebois which is a very good thing to have been trained by one of the best out there.

I'm not a Dubas fan either, but we both have to admit that this team was destroyed under Hextal.
Not that Dubas is some great person to put it bacck together. But the truth is, there is only so much a GM can do for this team. There are and were limited pieces to work with.
Truth is I think Dubas over time will become a better GM. I think the reality is, he was promoted way to quickly. Didn't learn what he needed to learn before getting there.
Because of that on some things he got took to school.
But I think he's improving. He's also not bad at valuating talent.
But above all I think he was brought in to change the organization. To modernize it. JR didn't really do that, and Hextal was incompetent. So they needed someone capable of doing that.

Its a no from the pens as per usual. We have no room for any of those guys, they just take spots or younger guys we already have fighting for spots.

Dubas would literally take that and if he doesn't like these players in PIT he'll flip them for a combined more than what he would give up here.

Can't argue with that, but still think Darche would've done better long term. He'd have started with the blue line and build something solid in order for the front line to be able to go back on offense. I'm sure many think Karlsson's addition was great, but it's a blessing he didn't finish -20 or worse again.. He's able to put up points but he's damn good at turnovers and not being able to play defense.

Anyways, what do we know.. We're just chatting about it while they are living it.. Who's the fool? LOL!

No combination of those given players is worth or would return more than the 2nd that PIT would be giving up. Let’s assume you’re correct: GMs don’t make three player trades just to flip all of those players for a very marginal increase in late round draft capital. This isn’t NHL 24. Regardless, my original point stands, we’ll keep our 2nd rounder.
