two last small moves
That fourth line has some good wheels.
Dzingel's tough to value. With Duchene gone, he and Stone are Ottawa's most established offensive pieces so they might try to keep both depending on contract requests.
Last year, when he played just half the year on the top line, he finished with 41 points, including eight on the power play, for a total of 33 at evens. So with half Duchene, half normal centers, he's in the same as Burakovsky, who got 34 even strength points the year he played with Johansson, who is about half as good as Duchene? But Dzingel is on pace for 60 points this year so (a) that offer might get outbid and (b) he'd cost twice as much as Burkovsky to re-sign this summer, but not be much better.
Dzingel's p/60 this year are below Boyds, and you're right that if they trade for Dzingel, Boyd could go in the press box.
I basically think this team is stacked on each wing, and has enough defensemen now, too. They're pretty solid at starting goalie, and their backup goalie seems okay? If they have another move, it's probably a dirt cheap RHC like Fehr or Kruger, whichever they can get for a 4th.

Adds just as much value for the team where he scored 7 even strength playoff goals, though, no? I mean..... I don't think Hagelin is a significant upgrade to the PK, compared to DSP, but having both is better than having either plus Jaskin.

Those all get accepted in a heartbeat. Burakovsky is starting to kill penalties, and hasn't really gotten much of a shot on the power play through age 24 in Washington. Might be cheaper to just keep him. And Smith Pelly at no cap hit can stay in Hershey for the rest of the regular season now that he cleared waivers. Wouldn't let him go for less than a 2nd, at zero cap hit, if the goal here is to add goal scoring below the salary cap.
Moving Jaskin cheaply to make space for Hoffman without losing Burakovsky? Great.
Jaskin and a 1st, if there's enough retention.

Seems fair. If you want the retain prolly gotta give a first instead of second.

I think the first two are pretty solid, maybe a 5th for DSP instead of a 6th. He can still contribute in a depth forward role and somebody might take a chance on him regaining his playoff form. The Hoffman trade seems fair on its face to me, but I don't have a great idea of how Hoffman is valued inside the FLA walls.

So I offered Bura, Walker, and DSP for Maksimov, Puljujarvi, 2nd, 6th. An Edmonton fan said to take out DSP. I am okay with that. <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/201856&post_id=743759">https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/201856&post_id=743759</a>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bobby1410</b></div><div>You nailed it, I’m not keen on Washington moving burakovsky but if they do I wouldn’t mind a player like Jesse in return.</div></div>
Absolutely. Every team wants a player like Puljujarvi at the WJHC.
But people are lowballing he heck out of him while he's on a 12 point pace in his third NHL season: <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1040199">https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1040199</a>
Maybe Edmonton still feels his draft position gives him big value. Who knows. He'd be a very interesting project.
I made a couple little changes and posted it on the Edmonton side: <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1040275">https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1040275</a>
I'd rather keep Burakovsky, DSP, and Walker, but Puljujarvi and Maksimov are each such tempting gambles, based on performance in juniors, and I think you're probably right that MoJo or another wing could be rented pretty cheaply, with that cap space.
With Puljujarvi in Hershey, the above team has 2.5M cap space to rent a top four defenseman to play with Orlov. Could get someone decent, in that range. I think Orlov still has skill, but has been working hard on defense and not showing it, so even a freebie like Pateryn could help get Orlov moving pucks, again.

mojo and bura trade just combining a few ideas ive seen
This year Puljujarvi has two more points (9) than Burakovsky just put up in his last dozen games (7).
In three seasons, Puljujarvi has 17g 37p. In his best single season, Burakovsky got 17g 35p.
Everyone remembers Burakovsky's surprisingly bad start to this year, but he's back, and the third line that dominated Vegas is back. Convincing Washington to put him on the market would take an overpayment, like Puljujarvi and a 2nd.
If that happens, and there's cap sapce, then the NJ deal is a fine rental, as you have it above (Jaskin, Barber, 2nd for Johansson at 50% off), but Puljujarvi goes to Hershey to play with Ikonen in a low pressure setting, and hopefully get back on track a little bit, and Smith-Pelly dresses. Smith-Pelly and Puljujarvi look equally bad this year, but DSP's tournament success is more recent; Puljujarvi is still waiver exempt.
At that point, the Caps have the same draft picks they started with, they've lost Barber, but they've rented a slightly more experienced Burakovksky for this year, and then turned him into a higher risk/higher reward version for the fall. Could pay dividends, long term.... but the cost to Washington is messing with a great third line that is finally working really well together, again.

I honestly don't think they move him now...that 3rd line is playing great. Both Bura and Connolly are getting the puck to the net and Eller's 2-way play is fine.
The trade bait for the Caps is: Bowey, Lucas Johansen, Jaskin, DSP, Niskanen (if there's a taker), Barber, and picks

You got people talking, so good job. In my opinion, Boston doesn't trade Krug (although we keep hearing a lot of rumors that he's on the block) because Chara turns 42 before the end of the season (even though they have Zboril and Vaakanainen coming up).

Nice. If you're putting Kempny above Djoos, you can temporarily reassign Bowey to Hershey and get that salary cap number working out again. Jerabek plays 17 minutes on a weak Montreal team with even zone starts, even corsi, and is -1. <a href="https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/j/jerabja01.html" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/j/jerabja01.html</a>
While he's no superstar, he provides a solid upgrade over Bowey for the playoffs this year. Bowey plays an average of 14 minutes a night, has a bunch more points, but is -3, meaning he also gives up a bunch more points. His zone starts are 54% ahead of the red line but the Caps only take 44% of the shots when he's on the ice, meaning he's still got to improve his positioning and defensive awareness in order to earn a bigger role with the Caps next year. <a href="https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/b/boweyma01.html" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/b/boweyma01.html</a>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bobby1410</b></div><div>don’t know how you got that conclusion considering Bowey has been subpar all season and burakovsky hasn’t played</div></div>
Bowey is 9th in points among rookie defensemen. Djoos is 7th. Bowey is 6th in assists. He's 8th in games played, but he's only 33rd in time on ice per game out of rookies. One could look at those stats and say that Bowey scores at a faster pace than almost all of the other rookie defensemen, and they'd be right. One could also look at his time on ice per game (which is about even with what Djoos is getting) and say that Trotz does not trust rookie defensemen to play very much. This is also true, and will be even more true in the playoffs. RMNB's facebook still gets daily comments asking why Schmidt sat last Spring when he was outskating Alzner.
It's not much of a mystery. Trotz believes that a player works over his career to earn ice time in the playoffs. The Caps should rent someone to alternate games with each of Bowey and Djoos in the postseason, because they will each get benched at some point, but that doesn't mean they won't increase their ice time each year and have fabulous careers in Washington. Djoos has one more point that Bowey, yeah. Bowey has twice as many points as Haydn Fleury, who was picked 7th overall in 2014 (<a href="http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=119392" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=119392</a>):
<a href="http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?reportType=season&seasonFrom=20172018&seasonTo=20172018&gameType=2&experience=1&position=D&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=points" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?reportType=season&seasonFrom=20172018&seasonTo=20172018&gameType=2&experience=1&position=D&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=points</a>
Yes, Bowey is one year older, but he wasn't picked until the 53rd spot, halfway through the second round. Plenty of fans on here are still trying to trade for Fleury,. If there's a "par" for rookie offensive defensemen on good teams, Bowey has absolutely met it.
But being an above average rookie is different from being a key contributor on a Stanley Cup contender, and it's got nothing to do with whether or not he brings what the guys ahead of him in the lineup are lacking. On the right side, Niskanen and Carlson are both defensively solid, offensively talented, but not super tough. Schenn and Franson have each put up two hundred hits a season, so they'd be like short term right handed Brooks Orpiks. I see the Caps adding one of them for the playoffs this year and then this summer, if Green signs, either trading Niskanen or bidding a sad farewell to John Carlson, who might just double his paycheck as Green limps home to think about contending.
Now, if the Caps can trade Carlson out West before the trade deadline, and bring in Green for less, then, sure. Then they should absolutely trade for Mike Green. If they can sign Green long term, right away, at less than his current salary, then maybe they should trade for Mike Green, depending how much Detroit is asking. Bowey would be a pretty high price.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>I've seen Green try to play 3rd pairing in a shutdown role on the Caps behind Niskanen and Carlson. It doesn't end well.
And Trotz is just a crotchety, old school, Western Canadian guy. Sure, he doesn't play rookies much, but he also doesn't have much ice time for Europeans or short people. Hailing from Norway at 5'8", Zuccarello might get fewer minutes than Burakovsky.</div></div>
Now, there's a rumor that Green wants to sign back in DC over the summer, as a UFA. That's fine with me. But if they're going to trade picks and prospects, let alone a talented rookie defenseman for anyone, it should be someone who didn't leave in free agency three years earlier, and isn't rumored to want to come back for free in another couple months.
Detroit wants to sell? Great. They want Bowey and picks? Great. Get Larkin. Rent a defenseman to limp through the playoffs (Franson or Schenn, whoever there isn't a bidding war over), and then in the summer, by all means, sign Green, and trade Niskanen for another brilliant young forward. Some Islanders fan offered Barzal for Nisk this morning. i think that's a stretch, but after playing #1D on back to back president's trophies, who knows?

Mainly a mid level D can be inserted there Bobby, figure with spots going to be precious and having Bowey and Djoos already up with guys like Johansen, Hobbs, Williams, Siegenthaler, the kid that played in world Jrs for Switzerland Geissner, a nice log jam starting to give Caps some options without having to trade higher picks.
