Just messing around values probably really far off
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>Yeah. More offense, but is he ribbing Kuznetsov by stealing his Philadelphia Eagles celebration, or does he hate him? :) Also... the cap next year... so much easier to just keep Burakovsky, who's half as good, but several years younger, and might improve.</div></div>
I’m sure it’s just all in fun, and I’d think the caps would move on from Niskanen next year so that’d free up some space... idk just a dream I guess haha

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>I built it.
You're right. I messed with it more, and added Dowd to my Jaskin trade. Got 2.5M in cap space. <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1049636">https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1049636</a>
My guess is that if they planned on making more moves, they would have pushed for full retention on Hagelin, so probably it's just for fun, but anyone up to $5M AAV, the team can get for Jaskin, Dowd, and futures. For a $6.5M player, add Boyd to the fire. :)</div></div>

Ovi-Kuzy-Wilson

Would be a nightmare to play against. Could make a package around Burakovsky, a first, and maybe Johnsen. Something like that. That’s if the caps REALLY wanna go for it. I doubt CBJ trades within division though</div></div>

That’s not always the case. Having him be free to be sent down without waivers adds value.

Not true. With him clearing means he can freely be called up and sent down. You see it happen all the time

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>This might not sound like me.... but I'm curious whether the team would clear more cap space by waiving Orpik, playing Bowey and Djoos down the stretch, and then recalling Orpik and Smith-Pelly for the playoffs. :)</div></div> it’s still hard it leaves 1.8 in free space. I’d still either have to add bura or they’d have to retain more and caps add a 1st plus probably a 3rd or 2nd

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>Those all get accepted in a heartbeat. Burakovsky is starting to kill penalties, and hasn't really gotten much of a shot on the power play through age 24 in Washington. Might be cheaper to just keep him. And Smith Pelly at no cap hit can stay in Hershey for the rest of the regular season now that he cleared waivers. Wouldn't let him go for less than a 2nd, at zero cap hit, if the goal here is to add goal scoring below the salary cap.
Moving Jaskin cheaply to make space for Hoffman without losing Burakovsky? Great.
Jaskin and a 1st, if there's enough retention.</div></div>
Okay cool, the burakovsky move was salary based would love to keep him and add Hoffman but I couldn’t think of any other reasonable way

He can still contribute in a depth forward role and somebody might take a chance on him regaining his playoff form. The Hoffman trade seems fair on its face to me, but I don't have a great idea of how Hoffman is valued inside the FLA walls.</div></div>
That’s what made the Hoffman deal hard for me, they just asked him for a list of teams he’d accept a trade to

mojo and bura trade just combining a few ideas ive seen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>This year Puljujarvi has two more points (9) than Burakovsky just put up in his last dozen games (7).
In three seasons, Puljujarvi has 17g 37p. In his best single season, Burakovsky got 17g 35p.
Everyone remembers Burakovsky's surprisingly bad start to this year, but he's back, and the third line that dominated Vegas is back. Convincing Washington to put him on the market would take an overpayment, like Puljujarvi and a 2nd.
If that happens, and there's cap sapce, then the NJ deal is a fine rental, as you have it above (Jaskin, Barber, 2nd for Johansson at 50% off), but Puljujarvi goes to Hershey to play with Ikonen in a low pressure setting, and hopefully get back on track a little bit, and Smith-Pelly dresses. Smith-Pelly and Puljujarvi look equally bad this year, but DSP's tournament success is more recent; Puljujarvi is still waiver exempt.
At that point, the Caps have the same draft picks they started with, they've lost Barber, but they've rented a slightly more experienced Burakovksky for this year, and then turned him into a higher risk/higher reward version for the fall. Could pay dividends, long term.... but the cost to Washington is messing with a great third line that is finally working really well together, again.</div></div>
You nailed it, I’m not keen on Washington moving burakovsky but if they do I wouldn’t mind a player like Jesse in return.
