Hawks - Pens
As a Hawks fan I'd probably do that. Doubt Carter waives for CHI.
Rutta might be tough. We really need to develop Vlasic/Phillips on the left side.

Sorry, but, CHI does none of this. Doesn't help and makes no sense.

Hawks don't make ANY of these trades. They aren't trading away 7 picks and three prospects - that's not how a rebuild works. And they would have zero interest in Fabbri, UPL and Stanley even if they did want to trade for a few guys. This whole ACGM is the exact opposite of what the Hawks plan is.

All this team does is makes the Hawk draft picks worse by being (slightly) more competitve. That is still not a playoff team. No way a team in the early stages of rebuilding will be expending that much draft capital for pieces that will be gone by the time the team is a playoff contender.

Different Priorities
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BlackhawksReboot</b></div><div>If they can get the pick for less, I'm all for it. But my position is that they should do everything they can to acquire more top 20 picks in this year's draft. Nobody but Reichel on the current roster is integral to the next contending Hawks team. That would be my laser focus in getting more players who could be part of the future core. If they are in the playoffs in 4 years with Oliver Moore (or whoever they get at 15) as a key player, no one is going to care that they overpaid a bit by giving up Raddysh.</div></div>
I guess if your laser focused on acquiring pick #15 and are willing to sell low on TRad then this deal makes sense. I'd never make it, and I'd be surprised if Davidson did. If TRad has another 20 goal season, he could bring a 1st on his own at the TDL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Shouldn't the Hawks give their players and fans some hope by spending at least some that cap money?
I'm thinking Illinois native UFA Compher. Maybe an offer sheet up to 4.3m for LAF or Miller of Rangers.
I don't think the Sabres give up a first for Murphy. They have cap and could spend it on a UFA. Gee shouldn't the Hawks keep Murphy and have some semblance of an NHL defence?</div></div>
If the Hawks luck out and get Bedard, I can see the Hawks trying to sign a better player or two to play with him. If it's Fantilli (who probably goes back to MI for one more season) or anyone else, Hawks will stick to the plan. Spend just enough on UFA's to hit the cap floor and shoot for another early lottery pick. Most real Hawks fans have bought into Kyle's vision for the rebuild after years of the Bowman flip flops that got us nowhere.

Nah. Especially if we don't end up with a top 2 pick this year. Even if they did end up with Bedard or Fantilli, they would still probably be tanking again next year. CHI fans have plenty of things to be excited about if they can get past the fact that we aren't going to the playoffs, and any playoff hopes just hurt us more than anything. A $4.3M offer sheet would be an awful idea. Anything more than $4.2M is a not worth it.

Perfect Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojohawk</b></div><div>Don't think Canucks do (or can with OEL NMC) that and the Hawks are not retaining on Murphy and taking back a bad contract (eithher or for the right return....not both). I'm not doing that Kings deal for a late 2nd and late third, way to much real money owed Petersen. I want that late 2nd with one of Pinelli, Spence or Grans and only after the Kings pay Petersons his bonus this Summer. That is still 7 million of Rocky Wirtz's dollars and 5 million a year in cap hit for a couple years which is not a late 2nd/late 3rd cost to move. Fine if the Kings can survive burying Petersen another season and deal with him in another Summer after the cap rises some, but the Hawks should be using 7 million and 10 in cap to buy way more than a pick in the mid to late 50's and another 2 years out in the mid to late 70's.</div></div>
Agreed. I hate this notion of the hawks having so much cap space so let's give it away for pennies on the dollar. Cap space is their best trade chip right now and their one of only 3-4 teams maybe that can actually weaponize it. No giving discounts just to get more 2nd and 3rd rounders.

Move Dubois sign Scheifele and Helle to extensions
"cap dumps" generally involve the draft picks being attached to the dump and going with the dump, not a rebuilding team sending a pick in the top 100 for the priveledge of eating 6 million a year in cap for a couple years and 10 million in real life money for a dman with a lot of miles on the odometer about to turn 32 who is showing some decline in his game. I would not have paid Schmidt 6 per at his peak and sure ain't pay a draft pick to do it for 2 season in the hopes he doesn't get even worse and you MIGHT be able to move him in 2 trade deadline. Hard pass and no chance without starting the conversation with a 1st rounder or first round equivalent pick and then something else you won't want to part with.

Our GM certainly might have other ideas about Cats value and whether he is a part of the future of the team. In my opinion, Holtz, and Cooley/Slafkovsky are undeniably great young hockey players, but none of them are a lock to be even half the player Cat is.

Toews does not get bought out. lol. Why would a rebuilding team buyout their captain with one year remaining on his deal? Yeah, he had a down year offensively, but he still put in a lot of good work in other areas of play. A season in which he was returning from CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome) and an entire year off. Which as someone with an autoimmune disease, I can tell you that **** is no joke. I'd say considering what he went through, he still had a pretty great season. With the good summer of rest and conditioning, I wouldn't be surprised if he put up 45-60 points next season and is looking like his old self.
