I don't think Comrie will get over 2.5M with only 28 career starts, and imagine they go a different route with the fourth line. Domi is a bit undervalued imo as well, and Sandin is probably coming in a shade higher than Liljegren.

Now what
Massive overpays for Mayfield and Lindholm. Lindholm is a UFA and you're sending a 1st, a high upside prospect, and good AHL top pair guy who's 24 with skills.
Mayfield matches the idea better but I don't think they're trading Amirov, who has top 6 upside and just signed his ELC with the team and is getting his visa together.
These guys would certainly make our team a lot better but our window isn't closed yet this is jumping the gun

Making Severson Work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PaulieWalnuts</b></div><div>Muzzin is a decent comparable for Severson, but this trade can be made better for both parties.
If Devils were to move Severson Leafs could do well with salary retention which in turn could net Devils a more interesting prospect than Abramov, like Niemala or Amirov.
Not that I think it's too likely Devils move him anyway.</div></div>
I don't think Leafs move Niemela at all. 20 years old, right shot, responsible defensively and highest scoring D in Liiga. Amirov it's more likely but with how little he's played this year I'm not sure Dubas would be comfortable moving him as of yet. Things could change but the organization views him as a top 6 winger.

ZAR is a bottom 6 guy barely. In 4 NHL seasons, at the age of 27, hes never played 60 games, nor cracked 20 pts.
Seems to me he's not dissimilar from Engvall, Mikheyev and dozens of other roster filler. Hes an NHLer, but I don;t think hes worth more than a 3rd.</div></div>
He's actually a pretty solid bottom 6er, better than Engvall for sure and Mikheyev at the moment. Smart and can play center, hits, good skater, and he is definitely not a fringe guy. Picking 60 games as a benchmark is weird too because neither of the last 2 seasons had 60 games as a full schedule

I like that 4th unit as well lol. One thing Dubas has done well is have options out the ying yang in the bottom 6 lol.</div></div>
I suppose the taxi squad isn't making a return then, so that makes sense. In that case I'm behind Smith as well but I'd like to find a way to keep both him or a player similar to him, and Galy too. I also don't think we'll land Coleman, so I've been doing an ACGM with Haula/Bonino as depth center or wing options and trying to make that work with a sub $3M goalie like a Reimer type. I've also liked Kuraly as a player and think he could work. And I'm not sold on Mikheyev anymore. My concern with Semyonov could be usage again, like Barabanov not working in Toronto despite showing some promise, then gets shipped to San Jose as a favour and does quite well there in their top 6, although I don't see the same standout skills in Semyonov from the footage I've watched.

Could also use Mikheyev/Kuraly/Simmonds as a checking line (because Mikheyev, bless him but he cannot pass, deke or shoot anymore. Basically a PK and zone exit specialist) and Brooks/Bozak/Spezza as a depth scoring line. I'd bring back Galchenyuk as well, and it's been reported he wants to stay in Toronto (it's like his 8th franchise and he works as a depth scoring and forechecking winger).

I'd like to see Hyman on the top line, and Foligno on the third with Engvall and Mikheyev. Simmonds - Spezza - Kerfoot could be the fourth. The reason being that Foligno can take some of Gally's shifts in the top 6 when we need to protect a lead, because Keefe has shown he likes to put lines a blender.

That's fair, it could be possible to bury him in the AHL and use emergency call-ups but this leaves no room for roster improvements. I've seen value a bit higher for Kubalik/Strome being estimated but those seem reasonable too. I bought out Maatta since he's only 600k against the cap. I'd also prefer not to lose Caggs since he's useful up and down the lineup but it doesn't break our back either.

Andersen and Pesce Trade and Bottom 6 Depth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>He can not sign over seas. Nhl or ohl.
I’m a bit more flexible. Not convinced of the mythical unicorn 1rhd that will guide us to the promised land.
Give me 4 good Dmen and four capable nhl Dmen. Sprinkle some decent team defence on top. It’s a six man job, not a 2 man job. Keep Dermott sign Demelo. That gives us a good top 4 that muzzin and Rielly can carry. Leaves us with Dermott Sandin, liljegren and the wildcard lehtonen. Judging by what he is doing overseas right now I am confident. Maybe he’s a bottom pairing or maybe he’s more. We won’t know right away.</div></div>
I think he's at least a bottom pairing, seems good enough with the puck and can actually shoot from the point (none of our guys are dangerous from the blue line). Hard to find clips showing his gap control/hard to know how he'll fair against NHL forechecking, he's a good skater most of the time but slightly wonky other times. Good vision though. I also don't think 1 RHD magically fixes our team (the bottom 6 isn't energy-based at all, and the team relies on transition plays like it's junior, can't attack the net, and the forwards are poor at winning board battles, and the defensive effort isn't consistent/we puck watch).

Would leafs not be better off targeting one rhd. Demelo Hamonic Bogasian or shattenkirk petro etc costs you nothing. A player like Cernak could be had for futures, Other players as well that would come much cheaper than nylander.</div></div>
Petro will be too expensive unless we move a big 4 contract. Those other players are good fits for sure but I'm a bit uneasy just grabbing one since none of them are real first line D. But if we're able to grab multiple it's possible to have all D not crutched on too much and the top 4 RHD not getting too much more than 20min a night (unless they're blocking shots like Hamonic/Tanev types and needed in the playoffs). I've been a fan of Cernak for ages but I'm not sure they'd shop him because of his age/they have plenty of depth across their lineup and want to win now. If it's possible I'd do it.
I'd prefer Robertson on the third line or in the AHL but as you said he'd have to play Junior unless he signs overseas. There's a chance he improves after watching footage back on the playdriving/teamwork, he got a bit tunnel-visioned on shooting against CBJ.
Personally I think Marner is overpaid by closer to $2M, and with JT's $11M and Rielly coming up it looks a bit rough. Kind of wish we had have kept Kadri.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>Pesce... fast? Not really. He is a stay at home guy. Would fit nicely on the leafs for sure but it is not worth moving nylander for. Dubas already **** this one down so it’s not worth debating. Especially with nylander coming off a productive year and Pesce a down year and a season ending shoulder injury.
Answer thiese two questions
who is the more skilled player?
What is the most valuable position in hockey?</div></div>
He shot down a Nylander trade? The most valuable position is Center, which, Willy has only filled in on an emergency basis. In the scope of the leafs, I'd still wager the largest hole is a 1RD. The answer ofc is Willy is the more skilled player and it's a good rule of thumb to keep in mind "who gets the best player?" for sure which is why I'd lean towards getting more value back.

Andersen and Pesce Trade and Bottom 6 Depth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>Looks better? Rookie on his offside in the top 6, an overpaid 4th line that should only see 5min a game an underpaid Demelo and a very old guy goalie being asked to take on a decent workload.
This would blow up in your face when nylander puts up 80+ points next season and leafs sputter.
Holl for Larsson written all over this.
It’s a simple remedy. Andersen goes to canes for a reasonable return of futures... after leafs have found a replacement.
Leafs sign Demelo to a reasonable contract and keep 2 of Holl Dermott lehtonen or liljegren on the right side.</div></div>
Khudobin and Campbell playing a split isn't a bad thing (the goalie tandem is also a trend that isn't going away); both can put up at least league average numbers behind a D corps that got way better and a forward group that can actually play defense. Also, the idea is that the 4th line can accomplish the role of an energy line while playing real hockey. Good teams do this (Dallas, Boston, St. Louis, Vegas, Philly, etc.), bad teams play AHLers and cross their fingers. Foegele/Brassard/Maroon can all get about 30pts playing about 12 minutes a night.
Losing Nylander sucks, but Dubas has signed some bad contracts. I don't think it's out of the question he gets 80 pts playing on Carolina and I'm fine to adjust the value to make it more even, but something's got to change on the leafs. I don't think this group 'sputters', especially in the playoffs. Way better D (also compared to your proposal of 2 of Holl/Liljegren/Lehtonen/DeMelo), players that can hit and actually attack the net, and hopefully another year means Marner/Matthews can continue to improve. Re: Robertson on his off-wing, that's pretty nit-picky, the lines can easily be shuffled to make it work if he doesn't learn the RW properly (or move Johnsson there, considering he was fine on the right but Kappy was the problem).
I do think 2 UFAs (Gudas according to rumours and someone else like DeMelo or Bogosian) are likely for the RHD, and Andersen being moved is a 50/50. Johnsson probably is moved for a 1st instead of Nylander but this is a spitball and an idea of how to get some energy/reliable D in one trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>clapperzzz11</b></div><div>What about this package deal
Nylander + Kapanen + Dermott
for
Domi + Juuslen + Armia + 2nd and 4th round pick</div></div>
Juulsen has almost no value, he's played 37 games (mostly in the AHL) professionally in the last two years. I like Armia, but trading Kapanen for a middle six forward doesn't address team need like trading him for a top 4 defenseman would.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>The Kings aren't trading 2nd round picks. They have no interest in Dermott either. Drop Dermott and the 2nd and the Kings would go for it.
However, there is literally 0 chance Walker signs for that contract. He's getting $2.5M minimum.</div></div>
I understand they shouldn't normally trade picks in a rebuild but they're lacking punch up front. The value of Kapanen for Walker one-for-one isn't really there on our end, imo. We would shed cap but we could probably get a better top 4 rhd, which makes me somewhat question my trade proposal in the first place. Apparently, Kapanen has a surprising amount of value still (teams probably look at intensity and foot speed here, and consider the playmaking he needs to score is unavailable to him as a RW-exclusive player).
As far as Walker signing, he's an RFA so his bargaining is relatively limited, although I do have a bit of cap leftover that could possibly bump his salary up.

Yeah I'm not too picky on value, but Kapanen is younger and has more perceived upside/no injury history/lower cap hit/more discernable talent. The difference in value between 20-40 isn't a lot, and I'm also not too picky on where it goes.
As far as Domi goes, he's a lower cap hit and brings something to the team that's sorely lacking (grit, and driving through closed-system play). He's barely older than Nylander and will command a lower cap hit. His consistency getting points is lower than Nylander but he also doesn't play with as talented players as JT/AM. I'd consider sending Marner out (just one 5on5 point in his last 12 playoff games played) but I highly doubt that's happening (and we'd probably have to retain some cap).

Leafs 2021
Dermott goes about $1.5M on a one or two-year "show me" deal: he has a smart game with some upside but he's been sheltered. I'd imagine Mikheyev is probably 2.5M on a similar term deal, especially if he comes back on fire as advertised, it may slide higher, soupman could sign for as low as 2 or as high as 3. I like the moves overall, and considering the 2nd is from Washington it's basically a 3rd anyhow, but these guys have a point that cap-dumps (this is halfway one, johnsson can play but he's a 3rd line guy ideally) are gonna be chintzy on the return for the next 2 or 3 seasons.
edit: Also I wouldn't forget about Barabanov, he could be a neat bottom 6 option (energy on the forecheck, great skating: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJUX2Vy0jbE" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJUX2Vy0jbE</a>)

Krug Alternative
All these people saying Rielly isn't worth Carlo are crazy... He got over 70 pts a season ago and was fourth in Norris trophy voting. The leafs would like a solid RHD but it's not something Dubas is willing to pay a lot for. If we're considering the UFA market they're quite good at attracting players (signing bonuses and track history). A UFA or Muzzin switched to the right is an easy fix, or rolling the lines with Dermott/Holl/Lehtonen on the right. Studnicka is very good but not needed when we have Robertson/Abbruzese etc + the main 4 up front and Hyman/Mikheyev.
Rielly doesn't go over without 2 firsts (considering Boston is a good team, these are close to 2nds in value) + more , or a very good roster player + good pick. And Rielly has a NTC and wanted to be Captain.

Hawks Trade Mid Tier Assets to Re-Tool and Build Future
I'm not sure he's an elite playmaker, at the moment (though it is true he has been 'snakebitten': maybe there's a reason: boomers say it's cuz he's a perimeter player). His zone entries are pretty consistently awesome (although I get frustrated that he uses the stop up A LOT, from an enjoyment POV lol).
Defensively he has a lot of lapses; it's kind of a "the best defense is a good offense" as far as the stats go. Nylander is good at taking the pass/stretch pass and taking it to the other end, meaning less shots from failed zone exits. Nylander also starts in the OZ a lot. Meaning more shots.
An eye test on his defense shows he leaves players open semi regularly because he's floating back or playing position instead of hounding on the puck a bit more.
That said, away from the puck he looked better vs Washington and his forechecking actually lead to a goal.
TLDR I don't think he's elite at the moment but he has the upside imo (Vision, poise, shot, skating) and the endorsement of Nik Backstrom (who said he could be Sweden's best player soon). If he continues to be engaged away from the puck and diversify his game overall he'd be truly elite IMO.

Yeah, I'm not sure why the rumour seemed to gain traction. We're not exactly wanting for a winger; he's 4 years and expensive; we need a RHD of some kind.
It's just not really a trade that either team wants even if it works under the cap.
I'm not a fan of Ceci on top minutes but Muzzin - Barrie should be the first line IMO.
