I'd keep Connor over Laine at this point.
Perfetti at 1C? The Perfetti at 2C experiment failed this year and he is struggling to get into the lineup.

At least it will never be as bad as the first round of the 2015 draft that haunts some Bruins fans. Its a low hurdle to clear, but I'll take it. ;)

Holy **** what a drop off in production 😳
In lots of the TSN broadcasts of late Dan Robertson has dropping little tidbits about many of these guys going cold over quite a long stretch of games, not sure if he'd mentioned Perfetti though.

I've heard he's kind of a pudgy little dude, he probably needs an intense summer of training and bulking up, needs to work on his speed too.
To Perfetti's credit he does try to drive past dmen to the net sometimes and goes to the corners/net front but he just gets tossed around more often then not.
The Petan comparison is a good one, neither guy lacks for hockey IQ, both are excellent passers, playmaker types but both are small, slow, sluggish skaters. Both were centers in junior but are converted to wingers at the NHL level, if the Jets wanted them to be centers they certainly didn't do a good job developing either in the AHL for that role. Both are too small and slow to be effective centers in the NHL.
Agree that skilled players better have a cannon shot or something that separates them from the rest like being super fast. I'm trying to think of a smaller, skilled winger who's more of a playmaker then goal scorer, Zuccarello maybe? A guy like Zuccarello is quicker, stronger and has more jam then Perfetti seems to.

As of right now after the Toffoli acquisition and when everyone is healthy, Perfetti is a healthy scratch imo.
He was doing nothing on the 2nd line, wouldn't fit in the Lowry line and isn't suitable for a 4th line role, a Barron Namestnikov-Iaffalo line will likely be more productive and effective then any of them would be with Perfetti on the line.
I'm sure he'll be a good player but I don't see a long term fit for him in Winnipeg, would be trying to package him up for a upgrade on the blueline.

I agree that some time in the AHL would serve McGroarty well like Copp and Connor.
Even if Michigan goes to the NCAA finals, McGroarty would have the chance to play an NHL game to burn the first year of his ELC. I could see the Jets using that promise to get him to turn pro (similar to Copp who played one game at the end of the 14-15 season). Then they can have him join the Moose for the AHL playoffs if they make it and/or tag along with the Jets when the Moose season is over.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Birtle34</b></div><div>Simple math on this also, ownership investment from rink/condos/cut from shark club, and whatever else they have downtown, simply doesn’t overly work without the 40 dates a year jets. Along with the fact that all the other owners much prefer splitting 3/4 of a billion expansion fee over any relocations. Owners better not cry wolf too many times, but this one may work, as long as they make some changes along with the corporate crowd, got to toughen up that ticket, instead of such a soft ticket, never should have killed the secondary market, and some of the other markets that could prop up the demand on tickets when it is lagging. From a die hard jets fan</div></div>
You said everything that needs to be said. I’m just worried about Houston. They have a multimillionaire owner of their NBA team who is on record as meeting with the league and wanting a team. They could go to two more expansion teams between Houston and Salt Lake or they could move Arizona to one and the Jets to the other.

I didn't realize (until looking it up) that True North Square, when completed, will be 1.5 million square feet of office, hotel, residential, retail, food hall, parking and public plaza space in five towers. The office tower would be fine without the Jets, but the others wouldn't fare so well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Birtle34</b></div><div>Would be kind of interesting to note on how long the shelf life of success is on this team, is this the stars of a few years ago that went to the cup final, then tuned out bones and had a step back, or is there some staying power, and be in the conversation for next few seasons for sure. I kind of liked the kid they lost to Minnesota for nothing, possibly a stopgap without having to overterm or overpay a vet. There’s definitely a hole behind this veteran group of dman, hopefully heinola grew and put on some muscle in rehab. What is the price of guentzel? Pure rental all in push year, or happy with a round or two, will be interesting yet. Kind of forced to buy one or the other on Dillon or demelo, I wonder if someone out terms demelo to 4 years, and possibly sticking point with Winnipeg, Dillon is probably a luxury they need to find ability to replace internally or back to waiver wire fun. Damn I hope those kids come quick or helly/scheifele extensions could look a little stale, in a couple seasons. Got to hang that banner asap before the blueline Reno.</div></div>
I think they have staying power for this season but beyond is a big question mark, could easily see them regress to being more mid/wild card/bubble team next season.
Yeah I like Chisholm too, he isn't some huge loss but still seems needless imo, was anyone really gonna claim Toninato? Its still nuts that they lost Kovacevic last season to keep Capobianco who they ended up waiving this season.. 🙄.. Thats some poor asset management and I could see them tossing away a mid to late pick for a depth dman for the playoffs which isn't a big deal BUT is still an asset gone for pretty much nothing though I'm sure the waiver wire king 🤴 will be keeping his eye closely on who gets passed through to see if he can get someone for free!.. 😆
I don't see Guentzel as a need or fit, if they were to pay the price for Guentzel which will be pretty substantial they'd be better off investing those assets into a top 4 dman which is a much bigger need.
I was thinking about the big Russian dman that Vancouver got from Calgary for only a 3rd and 5th and wondered if that wouldn't of been a good pickup for the Jets, try to sign him and let Dillon walk, Zadorov is 29 and plays a similar style as Dillon so sign him till he's 33 or 34 and not be tied to 34+ year old Dillon, would obviously need to be certain Zadorov would sign though but even as a rental he'd of been a decent addition.
I think the Helle and Scheif extensions are already stale, really need to win soon so those don't look so bad. If they win the cup no one will care much about those albatrosses in a few years.

2026 team Canada
I think there's a degree of internal inconsistency. If you have both Kane and Hyman making the team, it's presumably because you're valuing established chemistry in the construction of your team. However, the fact that you proceed to not feature any established duos on the D group despite there being a few clear options strikes me as odd. For one, I think Devon Toews would be a better choice than Rielly in both chemistry & fit and I imagine Weegar's long-term chemistry with Ekblad and positional flexibility might afford him the chance ahead of both Rielly & Power.
As for goalies, I'd say both Hart & Jarry are currently and will likely continue to be better options than Montembeault.

I think that if the Jets go with cheap youth on the backend and spend up on forwards they could really cheat the system. if they do this next year their combined cap hit on Defence will be like $12m assuming they sign Demelo for the same price he's getting right now. You can then take a bunch of the assets you've accumulated and go out and get a legit difference maker if they spring loose. I think if the oilers keep sucking that Draisaitl will want out, maybe as soon as february.
