Montreal have built a good enough prospect pool and i believe a complementary UFA to this team will see it and sign in montreal
P.S. how come only when montreal do this pepole bring up this point ? There's plenty of player's being buried or bought out and yet no one says it'll hurt future UFA signings</div></div>
Not really
Are some people on here ??? sure, thats valid
Around the League ? No
Hoffman is producing at about a 3-3.5m pace overpaid by 1-1.5m
He's a pending UFA and MTL will RS at 50%
Someone will throw a 5th round pick at him at least
Armia will be bought out before buried.
Long term we pay less cap over more time
That said we're on LTIR so often that he'll either end up on it or get playtime cause of it
Im not really worried until after the buyout window closes i believe on the 27th

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>How so? The Jets having at least 8 centers better than Dvorak is funny? The funny part is Montreal gave up a 1st and a 2nd for a plug! Now that's funny! :awesome</div></div>
Thats a half truth
If MTL used that logic we'd have a ton of Centers.
But the reality is if you dont develop them there
You devalue them in that position which is why we stopped considering Drouin a Primary Center for example
Its why Capfriendly Ranks players even by Position
You'll notice Primary Centers are listed as Schiefele , Lowry and Kupari.
Your Secondary Centers are listed as Perfetti, Vlardi, Gustafsson and Barron
Your Players who should only play Center as last option is Namestenkov
You got 3 Centers that are Legit of which you're selling at least 1/3 in Schiefele so you could end up with another 2-3 players including a Center.
So you're deep in the Future but you'll need to break in Centers and tank or fill the hole and worry about winning first.
I mean Dvorak is a bad trade for WPG and a better fit for FLA's needs at 50% off for 2 years.
It address's an issue giving them an upgrade on Staal if nothing else and gives them more possession time with his faceoff win rate being so good even on crap teams.
FLA makes the most sense
WPG IMO should sell Schiefele and let Lowry and Barron lead from 2nd and 4th C positions.
Let Kupari and Vlardi have their shot LAK never truly gave them and focus on growing your youth core win or lose
There's more riding on whether they can form a new core with WPG home grown stars or a complete veteran auction is needed on top of the moves you made and presumed moving of Schiefele.
Lets say Connor doesnt gel with Vlardi but Ehlers does then Connor's stock might fall in WPG(highly unlikely, just an example)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>I don't think the Kings can afford to dump another RHD. They already got rid of Walker, Grans, and Durzi this summer. RHD went from their single strongest position of depth to one of the weakest. If they trade Spence, they're committing to Clarke in the NHL this season, which he may or may not be ready for, and if any of their RHD go down with an injury, then they'll have to play a left-handed guy on his silly side. After what they went through with Durzi last season, I think they learned their lesson.</div></div>
LAK fans have 1 year left of Waiver Exemption for him
They're as unwilling to move Doughty or Roy as we were Petry or Weber for years.
Brandt Clarke is a Sure thing and what they're missing is LHD as Bjornfot is their Beaulieu
For LHD their needs window is the Next 3-4 years max
They have pieces they've drafted that show promise that should be seasoned by then
For RHD their needs are good
They got Doughty til he retires by choice
Roy to fill in the Veteran role when he does by Choice
Clarke to transition over time into Doughty's #1 RD role
Salin and Sparkes to fight for the last spot in on that roster.
Them and the next draft class they draft to re-stock like they did with LD the last 2 years.
Personally i like Jack Sparkes 6'8 Canadian kid who's big but not a fighter unless he has to be kinda like Chara.
Huge kid who chose USHL path giving him time to put on Muscle Mass the OHL doest afford guys like him.
Smart Development Choices maximize his potential to be a solid Defensive Option for bottom pair who takes up a ton of ice.
Why so much faith? He can skate well for a big man and is technically sound Defensively which is rare at his age, everything else can be taught
LAK fans can back me up on it
I think i trade with them the most.
What they want is a Jordan Harris who can grow with Clarke into that top spot
It makes perfect sense to for MTL as Spence is a perfect fit for us

Its like if your team traded for another Center , i'd be confused.
Jordan Spence fits our needs and he's someone you can build on.
He already started learning French when he was in Moncton playing for the Wildcats
Not that i care but it would probably motivate a lot of our fans who didnt know that.

A few trades to fix the cap
We wont win this argument
For better Context its like trying to trade Pat Maroon at 5.5m cap, it'd never happen.
For him to have Value MTL needs to RS of 2.5m minimum before people see value again
At that point its not worth trading for MTL
Easier just to keep him
We got Montembault, Hoffman ,Monahan ,Mantha,Pitlick and Wideman gone this year
Dvorak, Evans, Savard, Kovacevic ,Mangipane,Pezzetta and Allen gone the year after
That's half our 22 man roster gone and only Monty and maybe Pezz reasonably getting re-signed, the rest get no offers.
Longterm button (above the roster breakdown) shows there's no real issues here now
But if you put Anderson back in Manigpane's place ,nothing much has changed.
Like Hughes said unless he's offered a deal he cant turn down Anderson will finish in MTL a habs

Even if they do great WPG still has Connor ,Ehlers, Kupair, Vlardi, Barron, Morrisey, Pionik , Samberg, Heinola, Perfetti and Stanley among others to build on
Schiefele and Hellybyuck to still sell and profit off of.
Your Evaluation of their Talent and Their Build vs ours is completely Wrong ignoring reported Fact.
WPG didnt accept a PLD deal until LAK offered them Iafollo, Vlardi, Kupari in a package for a reason
They keep saying over and over they are not rebuilding like MTL but Retooling like NSH
So if Connor isnt willing to sign there and wait a year
Why would he sign here and be forced to wait multiple with Allen of all people as his back up.
Allen went from never injured before MTL to always injured since Price Retired.
I dont see why he'd walk into that situation and be happy when LAK is missing literally only him as is NJD and CBJ who are much better fits
MTL signing Hellebyuck ignores his wants and our needs.

Hard Sell but the team looks competitive
That said we're not giving up on Monty a younger goalie in a good position with Price signed on to be his Conditioning coach full time after preparing him for the World Championships where he won Gold. It makes literally no sense to overpay an old goalie who said outright he wouldnt sign with WPG cause they're Rebuilding and they're still better off then we are as far as being closer to a playoff return.
I just dont see world where he signs here given how blunt he's been about playing for a team contending today

im still waiting for a Point to be made so i can counter it.
If you're talking about your Generalized Ignorance i can address that if you wish
But id rather you just make a specific point but i digress
Generalized complaint 1
-Defensive Timeline
Mathesons Signing Bonus's are all paid off but 2m in the final year after July 1st 2024. Its likely during the 2024-25 season he's traded.
Guhle is a top dog who has grown steadily and will continue to .
Barron is a great PP player like Petry who's learning to expand his game all around with some growing pains but plays well with Matheson and Guhle.
Xhekaj is a great player with a great shot who in 50 games outscored Roman's goal total while offering the same consistency or better everywhere else .
Kovacevic was an Anchor and my like Edmundston at his age is a depth guy who provides size , reach and boring consistency defensively.
Beaudin is only here cause he/Barron in the AHL combined in 20 games for more PP points then the rest of the team combined for the year. (Lavals PP sucked after Barron left)
Beaudin's there to gain value so we can trade him
Hutson is Clearly coming up after this season IMO hence leaving the space for him to be inserted organically.
It may get tight for a year when Hutson comes in but as it stands minutes add up if you sit down and do the math.
Matheson 20-24
Guhle 20-22
Barron at 18-22
Kovacevic 18-20
Spence 16-18
Xhekaj 16-18
They receive Ice Time boosts based on their special teams importance. 16-18 for Spence may seem lite but for a rookie thats quite well.
He'll clearly push Kovacevic out in time as needed. There's really no reason to complain with the D we have to call up in our AHL system
Generalized complaint 2
-Fowards
As far as Forwards We got no one fighting for a spot im concerned about
They're Waiver Exempt almost entirely for those who you might deem "need " minutes
With Hoffman, Pitlick and Monahan gone after this year , Then Dvorak, Evans,Armia , Granlund after next year
Where's this lack of minutes you keep belly aching about but wont specify?
You live to Generalize and when people try to get you to make a specific point you try to divert their attention by Generalizing more lol
I stick to the points in context which is why im still waiting for you to make one thats valid
Although "im not surprised this is your reaction"

4th line and 1st line have a difference of 3 shifts on average.
They always roll 4 line whether its Martin , Therrien , Julien ,Ducharme, or MSL

That 2nd line's gonna kill
Monahan will help both young Centers with Faceoffs until the TDL
Then we'll have him moved out at the TDL to a contender with them having Anderson join them as Ylonen draws in replacing him at 3rd RW
1st line is great
But it will require 2nd and 3rd line to play a bigger role in Match ups vs top 6 opponents (similar to how Tatar-Danault-Gally succeeded on top for years)

Newhook is great and outside a War% aka Wins Above Replacements on a stacked Cup team his first 2 years , No one with Knowledge is concerned.
Why? Cause all his other underlying Metrics in comparison to MTL puts him in the top 5% across the board
We gave up a late 1st aka a Mesar and an early 2nd aka a Beck
As good as that woulda been in context compared to Newhook its worth the gamble.
Why?? The Speed he brings and the style he plays suits MTL's system much better then it did in COL
We seen this in Lehkonen since moved from MTL to COL in a system that benefits his style
Its a similar gamble given they paid Barron aka a Mesar and a 2nd for Lehkonen

Each year that contract gets shorter the amount of teams inquiring about Anderson increase.

Why? MTL will RS for a better return or take on salary to make it work

But new injuries isnt why we've been at the bottom persay From our SCF roster we had what like 5 guys left after just 2 years removed?
Bad GM moves hurt us with MB and had he been english Molson as President woulda fired him before he signed Gally and Petry to those deal.
We woulda with kept them at a more reasonable term or lost them creating space for our youth.

More depth
More upside to Accari on Wing as he's extremely physical when battling along the boards creating a lot of space.
Evans has 2 things he's good at in Faceoffs and Good defensive stick positioning .
On Wing his game becomes about speed but he gets crushed on the boards and turns over pucks when they inevitably happens.
Flip Accari and Evans
Accari deserves more minutes and he'll create space for Eller who needs it
Evans gets to continue growing as a defensive faceoff center similar to how Travis Boyd's steadily grew from 4th to 3rd to 2nd line Center.
If someone could teach the kid how to tape his stick he might even become a decent goal scorer(MTL teammates make fun of him a lot for his horrible tape jobs)
