<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Without retention, Dvo is a cap dump</div></div>
He didnt say we wouldnt RS
He's saying you didnt pay us to.
RS at this years TDL moving Dvorak as a Rental with 1 year is super easy.
Wont get a first or nothing but a Plekanec deal is very possible
We got a 2nd and 2 prospects we flipped for Kulak who landed us Lane Hutson.
Offer up Suzuki and Webber and 3rd
I think most jump on it
Suzuki in the AHL maybe motivated by competition with his Brother and if not he'll sell jersey's at least even if he'll be our 13th forward with our depth in Laval this year.(he has a chance to push to a regular)
Webber is the big man who create's space for Hutson by Wearing down his opponents so the lose a step on him.
The 6'6 monster who's grown into his massive frame into a regular role as he enters his final year in BOS U.
He projects to turn Pro after this season and likely need another 1-2 years in the AHL
I see him as a Kovacevic type who will enter the NHL at 24-25 and could develop into a reliable bottom pair defender.
We normally got no interest in LD
But 6'7 LD who can actually skate and he's put on 21lbs of muscle the last 2 years.
We might get another Edmundson out of it at best
LD that size that will be waiver Exempt just as we're contending has value to us however
Both these players with a 3rd round pick mean little to CAR
But to MTL it gives them pieces they dont have or are willing to gamble on.
That 3rd round pick thats a condition 2nd if CAR wins the cup with Dvo playing 50% or more games
Really it gives you an out to pretend you recouped value on your lost investment on Ryan Suzuki

The Primeau Situation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>His AHL stats really haven't been fantastic though, apart from the one playoff run. His regular season sv% has varied between .908 and .909 in each of the past 4 years. Those are good numbers for a 20 year old, but not overly promising for a 23 year old. More concerning, they show no growth.
20: .879 (AHL)
21: .892 (AHL)
22: .914 (AHL), .868 (NHL)
23: .920 (AHL), .913 (NHL)
24: ---------------, .914 (NHL)
Or even Olivier Rodrigue:
20: .894 (AHL)
21: .886 (AHL)
22: .912 (AHL)
You should see progression at any given level. I'm not seeing that with Primeau. I don't think he's ready for the NHL.</div></div>
Progress towards the NHL should look something like Stuart Skinner:
There's no Formula for Goalie development , its why people like Samsonov,Vanacek,Blackwood, ext arent qualified
Its why Lehner, Ullmarks ,and Bobrovsky are let go or traded
Primeau showed consistency and played well in the AHL given the Dcore he had
He went to a ECF game 7 after MTL pilleged most of the AHL roster making them ineligible.
I mean Norlinder had to play 4th line Center until i believe it was Heineman showed up
They got there with ECHL guys and Condotta from NCAA, Heineman from Europe and i believe Roy from QMJHL.
Primeau stood on his head stealing games.
Last year MTL made a lot of their players ineligible for the Playoffs again leaving their Center depth obliterated and took their top RD Barron.
He still had a pretty good showing but AHL is stupid and has a Best of 3 in first round , Best of 5 in second round and best of 7 in third and fourth rounds.
So a bad start in the first round can put even a good Goalie out of the playoffs.
I like his progress given the back ups we gave him and how crowded the net was.
Dobes is the first Goalie on his level he's played with and this will be the first time he'll have support like NHL goalies have.
Not saying he's Carey's replacement but there's no reason he cant be our Huet

I love Gallagher but if we gotta make Cap Crunch Calls for long term contracts.
I gotta cut Gally as unlike Anderson he wont be operational in a few years as he's injured longer each year.
Plus he plays big vs all our Rivals
He puts butts in seats and steps up when usually the habs are struggling the last few years.
He keeps games vs TML/BOS and OTT from being blow outs

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>danielcoe</b></div><div>fortunately we all have opinions and I do enjoy yours though i dont agree with them/ Take care</div></div>
Wait so you think waiting to fire MB til after he re-signed Petry, Gally and brought in Dvorak was what hurt us over injuries alone?
Given that 2/3 listed are part of that Injury core your referenced i dont see how not re-signing them if MB is fired doesnt solve your problem.
Hughes wouldnt have re-signed those guys to an overpaid contract with term given how beat up they were after the SCF run.
So by Removing MB like i said , Problem solved.
Injuries also would have been remedied without MB a lot quicker too.
Hughes after his first season in charge fired the Medical Staff and updated it when he realized the trend.
Bringing him in earlier makes that happen earlier.
Injuries were after all in large part avoidable and stupid.
Letting Cole go out after seperating his shoulder or Monahan take off his cast to play games then help put it back on.
There's the special glove they made for Petry so he could play after he busted his hand and letting Weber come off LTIR to join our playoff run.
Letting Carey Price go back out injured to play his final games in search of a win. (i think it was 3rd last vs OTT 2nd period he hurt his knee, stayed in anyways and for 2 more final NHL games)
The list goes on and the doctors are to blame especially that old F*** Dr Mulder they didnt fire cause he'd likely have a heart attack and die from the shock cause he's like 80(been with the habs more then half his life but i digress)
I was a MB guy too until he fumbled KK after giving away Sergachev.
When he he traded Dvorak to replace KK i was done

MONTREAL-CALGARY TRADE
Only way Lindholm doesnt have more teams bidding on him and a better deal is if he asked for 9.5-10m long term.
At that cap MTL may be able to afford to acquire him but keeping him would be another thing all together.
A deal structured like this at that cap hit of 9.5-10m could only be done if a major contract was going back.
You gotta include Gallagher or Anderson in the deal and that will cost you more then Dvorak and a 1st
I'd say something like Ylonen, Anderson , Dvorak @50% RS for 2 years and CGY 1st for Lindholm who signs for 9.75m for 3 years
Why sign him for only 3 years?
Thats when you Cap Relief runs dry from Price
Also Lindholm will be 31 likely still producing and we can flip him at the TDL before he's a UFA.
We dont need him long term, just long enough for Dach to Develop into a Center full time and possibly Newhook or Beck as well.
If we signed him for 7 years at any cap above our Captains it would be a negative value to us and go against team leadership /GM's message.
But for 3 years i think we could justify it becoming a better team for it and having the option to recoup some of the assets we spent

He fixed what i wanted him too.
He started training with blacked out glasses so he'd keep his head up no matter what.
He was playing better only using his Peripheral Vision then he was last year without those glasses.
I mean it was all pretty low tech training but it showed results so i cant say much against it.
He leaned out too and is a lot more agile on his feet.
He's taken the right steps , that said last year was a complete **** show that was avoidable.
Management shoulda got him a Slovak to play with that can speak English to help him transition more smoothly like we Did Kotkanemi when he was 18 in the NHL.

I think CAR would be less concerned if it was viewed as Nylander being an upgrade on Kotkaniemi.
MTL would be more willing to move Anderson if we got something we valued and TML offered us nothing.
Kotkanemi and Bunting to TML for Nylander package?
Covers the Cap , Puts Bunting back in TML for a price they can live with for the 20 goal scorer
Then they can ignore the MTL trade for Anderson having filled both the hole on wing Bunting left by trading for him again and a piece to replace Nylander potentially.
Short term CAR gets the better player hands down and for 3 years are likely winners by a lot unless KK breaks out or Bunting hits 30-40 goals for the first time

Nylander gone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skriko10</b></div><div>lol ,leafs fans .keep him rather have anderson then a mess like crylander</div></div>
Thats nuts.
Nylanders been their most consistent player when it matters in the playoffs.
Anderson was our least consistent player in the playoffs.
Why are we arguing this just to see him beat up on the leafs in the regular season 6-8 times a year?
This makes no sense , its like playing Checkers with Chess pieces. . .It lacks Wisdom.
My question becomes is TML so cap locked that losing Nylander for less is the best option ?
I know there's only 3-4 teams capable of taking him on and half them passed on him at that cost with term.
MTL is in a position where Caufield-Suzuki-Nylander allows us to develop Dach at 2C while having a top NHL line capable of stealing the show.
Sure overpaying sucks but as long as he gets no Contract Protections who cares?
Cap can always be moved and Nylander took more last time giving up Protections to get it.
I wouldnt be surprised is he did that again this time to get 9.5m with signing bonus's

Apparently Laine can play center
33 W and 70 L in the faceoff circle in 4 seasons in WPG
47 W and 94 L in the faceoff circle in 3 season in CBJ
Gallagher learned to take Draws from Plekanec and Danault over the years.
98 W and 150L in the Faceoff Circle in BG first 3 seasons in MTL
Does that make the 11 year Winger suddenly a Center?
No , no one who gets hockey would argue that averaging less then 200-300 faceoffs is a Center.
Gally had more in a single season then Laine in 4 seasons and no where on any site anywhere is he listed as a Center.
I mean whats next ? our LD in Laval played 2 games as 4th line Center due to injuries, let me guess , he's a Center now too?

Potential Brodie replacement
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>I think the preference would be to acquire someone who can log 20+ minutes, if they pursue someone on an expiring deal they could get some cap relief if they pay for the retention.
Here's a list of current/upcoming ufas (excluding those that just signed 1-year deals with a new team) that log 20+ along with Brodie:
1. Toews 25:06
2. Montour 24:07
3. Forsling 23:26
<strong>4. Hanifin 22:38</strong>
5. DeAngelo 22.03
<strong>6. Pesce 22:00
7. Skjei 21:48
8. Dumba 21:16</strong>
9. Brodie 21:13
10. Myers 20:58
<strong>11. Tanev 20:07</strong>
Don't see Toews, the Flr guys, Myers or DeAngelo as options. Skjei is iffy because of the cap hit but if CAR takes Brodie and a 3rd team retain in Skjei it's doable, not sure if the Leafs would go for that though.
The best replacement for what Brodie does and where he plays would be Pesce and Tanev.</div></div>
Durzi was acquired on the Cheap by ARZ so they could rebound his value and flip him.
I highly doubt he's part on Bill Armstrongs long term build
RS on Brodie 30% and you'll still have enough to take on Durzi with 1-1.3m left roughly for another body.
ARZ can RS again at the TDL and at 1.5m cap hit Brodie will get them a decent return.
That said 1 for 1 is doing TML a favor and ARZ isnt in a rush to move Durzi
You'd have to add in something they value which usually means picks as Armstrong built STL via the Draft starting before his dad became STL GM.
He's continued that same approach in ARZ building his team via the Draft
Why risk it on Durzi given his defensive plays inconsistent?
His age means thats to be expected but what i find intriguing is when Doughty,Roy,Walker and Edler were on LTIR most of the year Durzi lead LAK to the playoffs as top guy and LAK made it a game further.
More important is his offensive upside specifically in terms of Power Play QB ability with 31/65 pts in his Rookie/Sophmore seasons he's still not even entered his Prime.
LAK gave up on him cause they arent willing to move Doughty or Roy nor are they willing to move Clarke leaving Durzi in no mans land on a team thats always tight against the cap.
Remember the steal your getting if you attempt a deal with ARZ and TML should know his quality given they drafted him based on his skillset of being Suzuki's PP QB for 4 season on 2 teams including a Memorial Cup Finals run to cap it off.

Heres a crazy idea
1. Dont need LD and we're not dumb enough to put a LHD on RD(doing so = no Championships)
2. Savard has value at TDL and MTL will RS to profit off him to a contend
3. if we did want a LHD they'd have to be 5 years younger at least so we have the ability to profit like the Petry deal for Matheson who was sold at a low point as his injuries became more consistent.
I mean im not saying this is the laziest trade i've ever seen as at least you explained your logic in the description.
But its certainly the least original and ignores the Brodie a life long TML fan likely will use his M-NTC to block MTL like Josh Gorges did to TML.
People forget these players grew up hockey fans and that didnt just stop when they became the players they cheered on Tv .
Beyond that there's just the Obvious fact that MTL needs to move D out , sure but not at a loss and no one's ever traded for Brodie cause his agent uses his M-NTC to the fullest extent.
He signed to his home town team and endured the mediocrity of Dubas, Why would he allow himself to be pushed out before the new Regime truly see's what he brings to the table.

Primeau has a year left to prove himself a replacement for Allen
We risk losing him on waivers true but him having a bad end to last year works in our favor there.
Norlinder in the last 25-30 games was a different player FINALLY adjusting to Small Ice and the Speed of the Game.
Before his Struggles in 2022 trying to Transition to NHL he's overachieved.
Hedmans Brother who's been a big name in Modo Hockey since debuting at 17 twenty years ago..
He was injured at a crucial time and WSH had to either Sign him or lose his rights for nothing. Since then Oscar's refused to leave Sweden as the experience jaded him taking it personally. But like Patrice Brisebois he's remembered because he played some key moments in a Huge Hockey franchise's last National Title in Decades by some big names
So i trust his evaluation of Norlinder

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigDaddyOvech</b></div><div>How would adding a true top pairing RHD make Toronto's big four learn how to play playoff hockey?</div></div>
I literally over explained it as far as i could to avoid jokes like this.
I dont care Which Canadian team wins , one of us gotta or Bettman era is him beating Canadian Teams into the Ground with us not Resisting Once.
So if its my rival TML or OTT that do it, well it sucks cause their fans will being annoying
But an Annoying Canadian Fan is better then the American on that comes at you with them winning Every Cup since Bettmans 1st full Season in Charge.
Im so beyond tired of that lol
So if pointing out that the last serious run TML was ever on was when they had a RHD who got tired of their **** helps their fans get mad about it, Great.
Why? TML doesnt Prioritize Defensive play especially when it comes to stick positioning and covering lanes.
All any team has to do is Bully their way down the Right Side and they force TML to compensate often exposing the point in doing so.
There's a reason there's a Premium on RHD especially True #1 RD (Not just top pairing Top Player)
Its also why even at his age LAK refuses to even think about moving Doughty or doing anything but having him Retire there.
Or why Burns was still sought after at his Age or Karlsson at his age or Weber when he played for that matter.
TML has a great team
Thats literally their biggest and only real hole i'd say disqualifies them from being able to be a True Playoff team

Big Moves
If Guhle wasnt the French LD the locals been waiting for , i think it wouldnt be dismissed outright
But TML would have to add something better then Nylander and Spare Parts
Anderson , 1st and a 3rd for Nylander isnt that bad a base.
It comes down to Timmons has negative value to us as he's always on LTIR and we have enough of those type of players.

Ouch , Dumba is making 2.5m ?
What did he do ? Pull a Galchenyuk ?
How's he only getting 2.5m and Brodie got 5m from TML?
More to the point Brodie isnt your problem
Playing him on RD is TML major mistake.
Since 1995 TML has REFUSED to Sign a Right Handed Defensman.
Never mind the fact that the RHD they let walk went to DET to win Multiple Cups as theirs.
Its been the same stupid **** for 30 year from that entire organization cause their owners dont know hockey they see TML a Brand they can market for profit , thats it.
Its sad cause their fans deserve better then this
But not having a RHD on top pair playing 22-25 minutes you're giving up coverage on half the shooting lanes available trying to keep an active stick on your backhand.
In terms of Odds its like 3/1 odds normally of breaking up the play on your natural side vs 10/1 odds on your back hand.
No matter how good he is on his backhand it pales in comparison to someone playing their natural side.
IF TML could get Erik Karlsson beside Reilly its IMO a sure thing as far as breaking the NHL longest reigning Cup drought

How Untouchable is Andersson
I think it depends on where you're trying to Touch him , wouldnt you say?
Although i dont see them trading a D they need after losing Valamaki on waivers to their rival no less.
