Blackwood isn't a cap dump, the first is tempting but It is likely a late first for a cap dump of 5 years

I find it funny that you say San Jose “dumps” blackwoods salary for Korpisalo who is owed $16 mil in cap hit and is worse and older.

Vanecek didn’t even play a game with San Jose, they traded for him knowing he was hurt which I thought was odd. Blackwood was way better than his numbers show, almost a .900 on a team that was -150 in goal differential. Georgiev had a worse save percentage on a team 8th in the league point standings.

Because he sucks and the sharks already have 2 goalies. They are certainly not paying a 3rd and a 5th

He put up almost 30 points, and missed time. And he's only 24. He's worth much more than you're offering. Just look at what Romanov got you guys.

funny you would want to bring in a guy for top pairing minutes who you think is worthless

Not a San Jose fan but can’t see a rebuild . More of a build a better and stronger prospect pool while trying to move the older players and go younger .

Yeah, I wonder why he fell so hard when he was considered the best goal scorer of the draft by some. I do think they saw some big names dropping and rolled the dice hoping they get one. Bystedt is a huge center though lol, maybe he's the next Barkov.
edit: His eliteprospects description makes it seem like he has the tools to become a scoring machine. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/578760/filip-bystedt

The Sharks are Not in Good Hands Rant
The Nutivarra, Benning and Lidblom signings perplex me the most. Nutivarra got $1.5 mil for not player for a whole season somehow. Benning got 4 years to be a 6/7th defenseman. And Lindblom is a million dollar more expensive Balcers who was just bought out.
I just don’t understand moving Burns with that much retention for scraps to get cap space and then turn around and piss that cap space away with these fringe depth signings when the team needs top 6 scoring.

The Sharks are Not in Good Hands Rant
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Whats your thoughts on the trading down at the draft?
I'm not a Sharks fan and I get the thought of needing to rebuild the prospect pool but personally I didn't think that was a good move.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HiddenValley</b></div><div>Good rant. He should not have moved back in the draft. This was regarded as a weak class. Take one quality pick at 11 over three meh chances with the late 1st and 2 2nds (not that these players can’t pan out). You don’t qualify Dahlen and buyout Balcers to sign Lindblom to that deal?! I’m rooting for Lindblom but from a building your team perspective he should not have gotten that deal. Too much term on Sturm, 1 year max if he’s getting 2 mil. If you’re retaining that on burns, you need to get a way better prospect back. Took about one week of action for Grier to show he doesn’t know what he’s doing.</div></div>
Yep. Same thoughts on moving back at the draft. It's something that can easily come back to bite SJ. Nazar Lekkerimaki Kemell even Lambert may end up haunting SJ. Bystedt's a good pick but it was a reach even at 27. Also, one of the Sharks' The Athletic writers made a point about the Sharks having gotten a free 2nd rounder in terms of the value they received for pick #11, but lost on that are three points:
1) Different boards have different values -- that was just one. I personally take #11 over a very late 1st and two 2nds.
2) The Sharks are (have been) in desperate need for top-end talent. They've actually done quite well in their depth and later picks at picking up young guys who can contribute thanks to DW Jr (who's now gone btw since he didn't mesh well with Grier -- throw more wood to this rant fire). Besides Eklund, there's no one they've picked that high since they picked Meier, which, for a team that's missed the playoffs for 3 years in a row, is a problem. And here they threw away an opportunity to grab a top talent for more depth -- very similar to their approach to free agency in picking up lots of depth but not even trying to go after a Marchment (btw what was up with that? He would've been perfect given... well, everything, but he wasn't even approached with an offer it looks like) or Palat.
3) The Sharks (including DW before Grier) have a tendency of throwing away mid-to-high draft picks (2nd for Donato, 2nd for Hill, 3rd for Kunin). Taking that into context too makes the trade back out of #11 hurt that much more.

Cap Hell
The Sharks just traded a franchise icon and one of the most popular players in team history just to get out from <em>some</em> of his cap hit. There is 0% chance they'd give up a first round pick to get back a player with the same salary and an additional year.

You think trouba is better than Karlsson? Yikes. Sharks don’t want his cap hit and really can’t afford it, not at the cost of a likely high 1st round pick. Trouba also has a no move so I highly doubt he accepts this lol.

This isn’t enough for Meier. Zacha isn’t getting a QO so he has no value. Foote has 3rd line potential but man that’s not much for a high quality player going the other way

The Wild move is an example of a team up against the cap not being able to afford a player they would like to keep and trying to get the best return possible. 19OA + Faber who is an A prospect is pretty good considering they had no leverage.
For PLD, they have 2 more years of control with him, can fit him under their cap and its also reported they want to try and keep him around. The leverage certainly doesn't favour you at this stage and the proposal lacks the quality they would seek in any trade.
