I think their depth is great. Especially on D they have so many players that are good 5, 6 and 7 Dmen. What they really need is one or 2 top 4 player to bump everyone into their proper position.
Plus I don’t like the 3rd or 4 line. They seem very one dimensional and not useful for the playoffs.
Can’t trust the 3rd line in the defensive zone and the 4th line is who know with reaves on it, all Ik it’s useless

So basically he’s getting one impact player and that’s it? Unles ur taking off the roster or their top prospects there are no players the could get that would really help without spending a first.

I’ve seen so many trades for Larson on here that are an absolute joke.
He is a real top 4 guy that plays 24 minutes a night against the other teams best players.
He’s worth a first plus and Sammy doesn’t have much value at all right now. Probably couldn’t get a team to take him for free, he’s there for the money
Risto, idk what he’s actually worth but if the are interested in him for some reason get him retained for 4 years that costs.
I don’t think they want to trade firsts but to get good players you have to and if they aren’t getting rentals then why not

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SwarmChair</b></div><div>I’m confused. If it’s silly why did you offer it?
And also confused on this. Why wouldn’t the Leaf’s look at the Tkachuk deal as a template. Which was Tkachuk (who wouldn’t sign in Calgary) traded for Huberdeau and Weegar? Why only a 3rd round pick?</div></div>
I made the offer and the trade would be after the season is over when he’s weeks away from being a free agent. If they went through the season and don’t think they can resign him the best they could get is a pick for his rights so some team could give him a 8th on his contract
This is only if it comes down to a point where the leafs have tried anything and everything to keep him but find they just can’t

when healthy Timmins won’t even be in the lineup.
Robo was brought up to gain value. He playing fine but still isn’t great defensively and I just can’t see that 3rd line right now competing in the playoffs. Imagine that line on the road against Tampas first line in their own zone. Keefe will play them even less.
Niemela is a 5’9” 160lbs offensive defenceman that without the PP would be useless for the leafs. Don’t even try to tell me any different.
Just cause they were once drafted in the second round doesn’t mean they are worth that. Stop acting like the leafs prospects are so amazing. They have like 2 good ones.
Monahan on the 3rd line would be great for the leafs. A player that can move up and down the line up. Can score, can play on the PK. What’s wrong with that

The package isn't anything significant either.</div></div>
What more could you want. Cause I can tell you he won’t get 2 firsts. Chychrun got a first and 2 seconds and I think everyone would say Chychrun is better.
If Montreal want to build maybe move the play that has high value in his age 30 season.
By the time Montreal is anywhere close to good they will have to pay him like a top guy and he’ll be 32.
Not a smart business decision

Why. They give up no major prospects and if they are going to trade away a 1st for a defenceman then might at well get one that can play 25 minutes a night, play on the PP and PK and make under 5mil for a couple years
Guys on pace for 50plus points.

Idk if someone would actually offer something like that but for Chicago who is paying no one 12 mil a year isn’t too bad and when they are good the cap will be up
But 12 x 8 is 96mil total
At 7 years to get to 96mil a team would have to pay 13.7mil a season.
So Chicago doing this would make it so no other team could or want to match

Timmins had a good game yesterday I would say he’s had an amazing start. He’s been very mid. Can move the puck but both Benoit and Lagesson have been better
Kampf has been not good this year and making as much as he does just doesn’t work for the leafs. If he’s not A+++ on defence he’s useless cause he score maybe 5 times a year. This year has looked bad.
I wouldn’t be so sure Cowan makes the team. He’s still young and small. He could be a part time member but he need time to mature and get stronger. He would be like Robo in his first couple year if they rush him. Skilled but look out of place with MEN, he would need top 6 skilled minutes on offence cause in the bottom 6 he would have less success
Why would Gio retire. Unless they win the cup I could see him being back. He was playing 20 minutes before breaking a finger. He doesn’t look super slow, if the play him right and only 15 minutes a night he would still be fine.

As a leaf fan I would at yes to that.
I think Philly say no way to this. They are is this emu rebuild and wouldn’t want to give up a young top 6 forward and a young top goalie for Willy in a year they probably have no shot at winning anyway.

Have u watched a leaf game. He is terrible in his own zone he has to be sheltered. He’s small and not built for the playoffs. If he doesn’t have the puck he looks lost.
Monahan is much more useful. 2 mil for a 3C is a good deal.

I see the Philly trade a lot like the wash trade last year. Get a defender for this year plus a late first to kinda test a prospect. Think it would work nice cause walker can play 20 minutes a night if needed.
I could see the flames needing more especially cause it seems they don’t want to trade with the leafs if the can avoid it. I would definitely add more for hanifin

Murphy would be smarter. He may not be better right now but he’s younger and if he gets retained he has a lot of value to the leafs going forward.
Murphy at 2.2mil is more valuable then 20 games of tanev and then maybe resigning him at like 3mil or something

you guys need to remember that ONE phenomenal season does not warrant the player receiving an 8 year deal at ridiculous money like 12-13mil. we've seen it many times. I can virtually guarantee you William Nylander does not sign for anything north of 11, and even that is pushing it.</div></div>
People don’t understand that with the 8th year Toronto can give the cap hit comes way down
7years at 12 mill is a total of 84mil
8years at 10.5 mil is total of 84mil
That’s just an example cause who the hell is giving Willy 12 mil. That’s why it will for sure be under 11mil probably close to 10.25 or 10
The rest of the contracts on the leafs just doesn’t matter anymore cause it’s a new GM in town.
Marner won’t be getting much more either. He might go up 100,000 to 11mil
