RNH to Colorado - Who Adds Or Is It DOA
That's an easy pass for the Oilers. Nuge loves Edmonton and will be resigned. That deal hurts the Oilers in many ways. Many people undervalue Nuge, but the Oilers don't and a true fans knows he brings a lot more than offense to this team. He is probably the best 2 way forward on the Oilers.

True...but they spend way more time in the offensive zone.
Regardless that is not an offer that helps Edmonton. They need forwards that are ready now. RNH, Leon and Yam were one of the best lines in the NHL last year when put together. This deal really only gives Edmonton one line again and weekens our team. Jarry outplayed Murray for a good chunk of the year. With a great GAA. IM NOT SOLD ON Murray.

Edmonton passes. Murray falls apart every year for at least 20-30 games and is inconsistent on a very good Pittsburgh team. In Edmonton his numbers would fall. I think Koskinen has similar or better numbers in Pittsburgh. We'll keep RNH. He's proven himself on a struggling Oilers team for years.

Terrible deal for Edmonton. Edmonton could easily trade Larsson without taking any money back. But they won't trade him...he's a good defensive defenceman at a decent rate.

I know this is pretend but,
1. Holland won't give up the first
2. We're not moving Klefbom. Colburn in not a good fit and I'm not sold on Palat. (plays on a great team and is a only 40 - 50 pt guy)
3. I know Laine has a great shot and can score, but Bear is part of the solution on the back end going forward and you don't give up RNH who is a 60+ pt producer and an amazing two way player for a guy who doesn't play defence well at all and gives you around the same number of points and throw in a second. Sorry I don't see it.
If Klefbom moves, I could see Edmonton making a move with LA for Doughty. He's not enjoying life as a King anymore and I'm sure he'd love to play his final 5-8 years with Conner and Leon.
I could see Klefbom, Jones and 2nd for Doughty.

I agree the trade as is would never happen, but starting with Nuge is wishful thinking. Especially if you think Edmonton would have to add to that. If Edmonton were to make an offer, I'd see it as a prospect, 2nd and a decent roster player. (maybe Bear or Jones) otherwise the trade is useless for Edmonton. One decent forward for another...what's the point.

Wishful thinking. Lou is not that dumb. Remind me what this guy did last year to receive that package. Last year was a down year...they won't trade him because they won't get anything near that at this point. They'll probably sign him to a bridge deal and hope he returns to form.

Horrible for Edmonton. That's a big pass. Laine can score, but his defence is horrible. Edmonton needs Nuge. He's a great two way player who can put points on the board. In fact he put up almost 20 more points than Laine last year. So to throw in two decent prospects and a 1st. No way.

Trade with Buffalo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jdfitz77</b></div><div>It only works if we are high on Puljujarvi...

Also...
we don’t need (or likely want) Russell back
The reason we can trade Risto is that we are now very deep on defense on the right side
Montour, Miller, Bogosian & Jokiharju are all right shot defensemen
So unless we’d be getting someone who is clearly a notch above them (Russell is not), then it doesn’t make sense for us to get defensemen in return
Same goes for the left side where we have Dahlin, McCabe, Pilut & Scandella
It’s better than some of the offers I’ve seen on here,
but the return just isn’t what we’d be looking for
I’m pretty sure we’d end up doing better IF we did move him
There’s actually a lot of thought around town that we are gonna keep him though, and just move a lesser guy or to for late round picks</div></div>
I'm hearing some Rumers Risto has asked for a trade. It could totally be false. If he hasn't asked for a trade than ya I agree Edmonton would have to step it up a bit. If he has asked for a trade, I think Edmonton is offering a good package here. Maybe they switch the prospect from Bear to Marody and add Benning instead of Russel if the Rumer is false.
Benning
Marody

What are the incentives for the Oilers? Only a bunch maybe's. Maybe Kreider will resign, maybe the prospect will turn into something. This trade only has risks attached to it. RNH has said he wants to be in Edmonton, so I don't think they'll have a problem resigning him. Two years of RNH is better than 1 of Kreider...but in reality RNH is probably here for a long time.

I wouldn't do the Buffalo trade or the Nashville trade. Turris is overated and we need Larsson pretty bad. Nuge is to good both ways, and to trade him for an offensive minded d-man who's a defensive liability would hurt us even more... If that's possible. :(

Hot Take - Tatar better than RNH
Weird how Tatars been on 3 teams in the last 3 years. Something teams don't like about him. I'd take Nuge as well. Nuge has been on a brutal team. Imagine Nuge on a good team. He's definitely the kind of player any coach would love to have. Plays both ways and very coachable.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>You're loaded with good D prospects, move Klefbom or Nurse to fill holes on the wings and let one of the D prospects step in and play.
Well if you want to go the free agency route good luck with that, hopefully Holland can find a decent deal or two. The reason I chose those 3 players besides their abilities is there contract status, you'd get some certainty with them and they're not overpriced.</div></div>
Bear, Jones and Bouchard are not ready to step in for Nurse or Klefbom. (Maybe as a replacement for Russel or Sekera) They need a couple more years. In two years we may be able to do what your saying, but we're not quite there on the back end. Plus the dollar value for both Nurse and Klefbom is to good.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Oh geez, you do realize any free agent is gonna be an overpay right? And likely a bad overpay plus there's not many good free agents this summer, or not ones that are likely to sign with the Oilers anyway.
"Why trade the runt if he's no good?"
Ummmm cause I think he's no good.. Lol
And to sweeten the pot for the Habs to make the deal that's why.
Very much disagree, the Oilers aren't weakest on D, they're far and away weakest on the wings and in net, this trade seals up some holes on the wings and does it more effectively then trying to seal up those holes through pricey free agents. The Oilers don't have the cap space to get multiple free agents this summer unless they want to lose picks/prospects to dump bad contracts or do some buyouts but both of those routes hurt in the long run, this trade doesn't.</div></div>
Maybe you should watch more Oilers games. The D was terrible and they need a puck moving D big time. Klefbom is the closest thing we have to that. Until they get a better option on D, that trade doesn't take place.
We don't want Drouin. Overated and not needed in Edmonton.
Holland will definitely try free agency first. It makes more sense to try that option before giving up assets. Common sense. They will not make a move before free agency.
We'll keep the runt that sucks as well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Read the bloody description mate, it explains my reasoning as to why I think Klefbom is expendable and say what you want about Drouin but he's a top 6 winger on any team in the league and both Armia and Lehkonen are quality two-way middle 6 wingers which is something Edmonton desperately needs.
As for Yamamoto he's a 5'8" runt and his AHL numbers weren't very impressive, even with him in the deal I'm not sure Montreal makes this trade but I tried to even it up a bit so that's why I included Yamamoto.
Not sure how else Edmonton is gonna get a top 6 winger with term any other way then trading one of Nurse, Klefbom or Draisaitl but Oilers fans seem to think trading any of them is a terrible idea, you gotta give if you want to get.</div></div>
The Oilers pass on Drouin. He's overated and not the guy Edmonton needs. Edmonton is weakest on D, so they won't cripple themselves more. Holland won't throw away a good defensive player with a good contract. As to Yamamoto...why trade for the runt if he's no good. You and I know he's a decent prospect...that's why you have him in the offer.
Oilers are better off trying to acquire through free agency first and maybe they consider moving there 2nd round pick.
