Blues Blockbuster load up on forwards
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Yes, of course! The defense is the problem, so let's blow all our energy and assets to work on the forwards!! And you ask how that qualifies as roast-worthy? Seriously? And that's before we even get to how you're finding that extra 5M in cap.</div></div>
Watch out ladies and gents, we found Dougs burner account.
He's just hurt that he made all these mistakes on defense and thinks hes a genius that can fix it all in one offseason. good luck pal

This qualifies how exactly?
Yes the defense is a mess, but that won't be fixed in an offseason. Addressing the forwards is the only way to go right now. Yeah this isn't the greatest but isn't impossible like you're saying it is.
Would love a swap between Keller and Kyrou, would have to add more. Makes perfect sense for the Blues. Schmaltz is a stretch but figured to add in cause why not

Sign Colton with what money? a hair of 2 mil to sign what, 5 guys? People have to go and trading an RFA for a high pick is the best route for them
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Dude, what??? Straight off the top, where do you imagine all this extra cap is going to come from?</div></div>
19 under contract on the roster after these trades. Get rid of Scandella (attach a pick if needed) to free up more. Torop will be cheap then having a few other $1 mil and cheaper contracts. Be spending near the cap ceiling which Doug almost always does anyway. Address the offense now, hope the defense plays well, then that increases trade value for next year. Plain and simple. Funny how all you do is roast on others posts yet I never see your posts

Blues Blockbuster load up on forwards
Colton would be a PERFECT 3C and should be able to get for a late 1st or a 2nd+
Blues would struggle to get rid of any d-men this offseason so the only way they can improve the team is on the forward front, then hope the d-core can clean it up next year or just try to trade again next summer when there is one less year on all these contracts

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Again I ask: why are we splurging assets on a winger?</div></div>
How do you expect to bring any d-men in without moving any out first?
With 4 NTC, very unlikely. Only area easier to improve is the forwards. If we can offload a d-man, then great. But who is even out there to get at this point?

To separate trades into one
Do this then find a way to offload Krug and maybe Leddy then get some younger defensemen in return
Pairings looking like:
TBD - Parayko
Rosen - Faulk
Perunovich - Bortuzzo
With other options being Loof, Tucker and Kessel.
Need a top LD pairing for Parayko assuming we get rid of Leddy or see if one of these younger guys can step up
Wouldn't mind a flyer on Logan Stanley if we can get for fairly cheap

Krug wouldn't waive for Arizona and the Blues wouldn't opt to pay that much to get rid of him
sure they want to probably get that contract off the books, but not by including the 10th overall and a third for the 12th overall

If this is all it takes I wouldn't mind the Blues going for it.
Feel like it would require more with Rossi being a recent 1st rounder and still a ton of potential

STL PHI Trade Main Focus
Follow up:
This feels like it could be similar of a trade to when the Blues acquired Schenn in 2017.
That package was a 2017 1st (late 1st) 2018 1st, and Jori Lehtera.
Think a similar package for TK could be both late round 1sts this year and Logan Brown. Maybe adding another AHL player (Gaudette comes to mind)

STL PHI Trade Main Focus
The main part of the trade is between STL and PHI.
The DET part is to try to get rid of Krug. Would think a decent contract would have to come the other way, and Chiarot is one of the few options. Krug also has a NTC but is from Detroit and was linked to go there before (unfortunately) signing in STL
Krug departing frees up the space to go after TK and TK fits the exact mold of players the Blues are after. May cost more than a late 1st and young player potentially needing (another) change in scenery
Interested in hearing thoughts about these two trades. Mainly between PHI and STL and what it would take to get TK to the Blues.

Krug Go Bye Bye Plz
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>Calgary doesn't want or need Krug. We have plenty of offensive / two way defenseman. Andersson, Weegar, Hanifin, if/when he comes back Kylington and top offensive D prospect Poirier on the way maybe as soon as next year. We could use a 1st line scoring winger, a sniper, not a left shot offensive defenseman who's on the wrong side of 30 makes more money than any current Flames defenseman and would have trouble cracking Calgary's top 4.
Mangiapane has not underperformed, he's been filling a 3rd line checking role this year so of course his production is down. The last few games he's been on the top line with Lindholm and Toffoli and is producing again.</div></div>
This is why I like this site. Haven't been following the Flames much this season but hearing all that, Krug doesn't make much sense with that depth they have.
As a Blues fan, I'm just hoping they can somehow get rid of Krug and trying to see what teams could be suiters. Knowing he's just a PP specialist at this point, trying to think of any playoff teams next year that had a poor powerplay and Flames were towards the top of that list

Krug Go Bye Bye Plz
This will probably never happen
But the overall mindset is Calgary should be a playoff team but their PP was lacking this year. Getting a PP specialist should be towards the top of their priority list
Mangiapane has underperformed a bit (just by looking at the stats, could be different) and the Blues want to reload with those around 26 which fits the bill
The added 2nd and 3rd round picks are to make it more enticing for Calgary and to help them add more draft capital

Vancouver is in a retool/rebuild but need a young RD to be beside Huges as a stay at home RD but have time to build that chemistry.
Ottawa solid stay at home RD at 50% of salary with Lazar as a depth fwd where he was drafted
St. Louis gets solid prospects with contract control for awhile
Canucks get a minor Dman who is very close to NHL ready and huge potential with a better draft pick for taking on contract and giving up a rental</div></div>
There is ZERO chance GMs will retain salary on a guy for 8 years

I think if it was just NJ now, the deal would be done. I think the trade earlier opened the door back up for Army and is making it a tough sell

1 3 and 4 is the rumored asking price
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>darthsummer</b></div><div>Not an overpay for market value, but won’t help the playoff push (likely wouldn’t hurt lottery status the other way either, given the standings).
I get the logic and if the deal comes with an immediate extension, it removes the uncertainty of FA. And for all the ado made out of the deadline and these picks, few stars emerge percentage-wise from beyond the first round. This just costs chances at future depth.
CBJ called on Horvat with this same idea in mind. Price ended up too rich, but not a bad idea.</div></div>
Agreed on if it comes with an extension it makes sense to go for it. I think all the picks they're requesting is still too much and too high for a guy that has been struggling, but same can be said about ROR fetching that kind of return. So nothing surprises me anymore

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tennisman142</b></div><div>The blues are trending for a top 10 pick. They don't need Gavrikov</div></div>
Gavrikov is more for the future. I think whoever trades for Gavrikov will sign him to an extension. However, it he goes to a team as a pure rental (and it is known when the deal is made), then I would love the Blues to jump on signing him.
I think trading some picks that are outside the first round to get a defensive guy (which the Blues desperately need), I would love it. It's unlikely that the Blues would go after him, but he just fits the bill of what they need

So, reasoning
Garvrikov is a solid defensive defenseman in an off year right now. Solid 2nd line guy. Blues can trade and sign to an extension, meaning Faulk/Parayko could be expendable to open up that cap space.
Then with Krug, Leddy, Scandella, can figure that situation out later
Even this deal is probably an overpay

I think this Barbi for Foote and Finley is a starting point for Army to at least know where the base is for a deal. Unless Tampa adds more, which I don't see unless it's draft picks, they won't be able to compete in the bidding war for Barbi
As a Blues fan, I am hoping Timo Meier goes off the board here soon so Barbi is the next best winger on the market (aside from Bertuzzi)

Barbi to Dallas for 2 D Prospects
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheMooterus</b></div><div>Don't see Dallas and St. Louis being good trade partners for Barbashev. St. Louis is going to want a division rival to pay more for him and Dallas isn't in the business of helping a division rival speed up a rebuild/retool by acquiescing to the price St. Louis will want.
If they weren't in the same division, I'd say that Harley for Barbashev is pretty close to fair value, assuming an extension for Barbashev was agreed upon at the time of the trade.</div></div>
That's the only caveat here is them being division rivals. I think Dallas will look elsewhere and have Barbi be a last resort kind of option. But they should be in a win-now mode since the west is so open this year. Trade for Barbi and give up a future piece in an attempt to win it all this year? I think it's possible, just unlikely for the reasons you had said, but with it being in the same division the Blues would want more from Dallas than any other team for the same reason

I wouldn't really mind taking a flyer on him at least. At 19, can still grow (not too likely) and can add some weight. Currently listed to be the same height and a little heavier than Perunovich.
Plus he's putting up some solid numbers in the OHL this year as a defenseman (granted it is a high scoring league)
