Deadline Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>zackhendo</b></div><div>Fair enough if value is off - I first had it as a second and then upgraded assuming Ottawa wouldn't be happy with that. I still like Kuzmenko a lot and would hate to lose him, but you have to give to get.
I don't really get what you're saying that we don't need Giroux? Running Pius Suter as your 2nd line center isn't a recipe for success in the playoffs. Giroux could replace Kuzmenko on PP1 and adds playoff experience and some grit. If you move Petterson back to 2C Giroux can play wing with Petey or Miller.
I'm totally fine just letting this year ride and seeing what happens - but I also think Giroux is almost a perfect fit for the Canucks.</div></div>
I actually think Giroux is a pretty solid fit on line 2. Especially if line 2 is Kuz - Giroux - Mikheyev.
Not sure if Ottawa would part ways though or if Giroux would wave. Seems like he's quite valuable in Ottawa. Limited "good" vets on that team (just my opinion).
Would you still target Giroux if the ask is 1st in 2025 + Truscott or Brzustewicz + Garlund
If I have to knit pick, it would also be nice if we could target a guy that is on his final year. Definitely won't be as talented as Giroux but someone like Henrique or even Lindholm (harder to resign).

Would you do Garland for Kuz straight up?

definitely 5 mil is overpaying but not much options

To The Moon
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>uphere</b></div><div>I doubt it. If you recall his days as a Canuck, you will know that when Kassian is playing his "A" game he is a terror for the opposition and easily capable of playing with high-end line mates. The guy has speed, size, toughness, and skill, but has been plagued by inconsistency throughout his career. He had a slow start to the last season, not a surprise that a guy who plays with such emotion would falter in an empty arena. Puljujarvi got a shot with McDavid and had a great year, and in the meantime Kassian suffered a couple of pretty significant injuries that slowed him down. His last couple playoff games, in Winnipeg, saw "Good Kassian" return, and I suspect Ken Holland and Dave Tippett are hoping that guy shows up next season and pushes Yamamoto, maybe even JP, for a spot in the top six. I also think that is why Holland's asking price might be beyond what most fans deem reasonable.
I could be wrong, I certainly was with respect to the Oilers acquiring Duncan Keith.</div></div>
Fair assessment !
I actually think Keith with oilers will surprise a lot of oiler fans .
I think oilers has been missing a voice for a while , without breaking up the team and lack of ufa to fill that specific role ... I actually think it was a good move for oilers

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>uphere</b></div><div>Contending with a motivated Zack Kassian several times in a season is not in Edmonton's interest. If they move him, he will be headed outside the Pacific Division. Also highly unlikely they would take on two struggling players in exchange for Zack.</div></div>
Would it be more intriguing for oiler fans if beagle has retained salary? or does that still not out weigh having kassian in the pacific division
Also , Ferland will be LTIR for Oilers ... so if you think about it $$$ wise ... 1 year beagle + 2 years ferland ltir for 3 years kassian

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>Holy what the heck is that Blues trade? The Sedins would have to tie Jim Benning up if he tries to do that….</div></div>
Just wanting a long term stability for hughes ... im not too hurt with losing 2 x 1st tbh ... yes rookies are important , elc's are important ... but our core is what it is now
If you look at our team in the near future ,
demko - 5 mil , 5 years left
hughes - 7mil + assume
horvat - 5.5 , 2yrs left
miller - 5.85 , 2 yrs left
boeser - next contract is minimum 7.5 due to rfa rights
petey - 7 mil+ assume
thats close to 40 mil for our core LOL - which is 50% of the team
Pod and Hog - still on ELC
So having 2 more 1st rounders on the team is great in concept but having someone who is exactly what we need (not saying parayko is exactly what we need , more just the idea) I think is more important
Just my thoughts

greenway signed $2.1 x 2 today .... I don't think virtanen will sign for less than $3 especially when he just filed for arbitration .... not the best comp but the stats / type of player potential is what I think jake will use
also doubt we can get gaudette @ that price either

Realistic trade and signing Lets Chat
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sedin33</b></div><div>Vancouver loses on both trades. Markstrom signs before you put the contract down. 5 years? geez long time for a 30 year old goalie
You don't have much money to resign Hughes and Pettersson.</div></div>
I do think its too long of a contract , but bargaining power is with Markstrom ... plus i do think he would by 3rd ish year of that contract switch to a mentor role
In regards to no money to sign Petey and Hughes , i do agree it will be real tight ... hopefully Benning can work a deal with Seattle for Erikkson or Myers ... just cause Vancouver is close by to Seattle , maybe that would be a perk for Myers or Erikkson to not have Seattle in their M-NTC. If we are able to do that , we can afford 18 million for both Petey and Hughes (hoping that is enough for both)

Or would you think its smarter to find a trade to ship out rousell , beagle , myers , eriksson ? What you think would be some ADDS on our end to package any of those contracts ?

I had thrown out Demko and this year's 1st and the response was it would have to be Demko or a 1st, not both. Would Erikkson, Demko, and Virtanen for Cholowski be considered a big overpay, with no picks being involved?</div></div>
That would be an amazing return for Vancouver , I can't speak for all Canucks fan , but i personally would be more than happy erikkson + demko + virtanen for glendening + 3rd round

MTL helping VAN and STL with cap issue
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>reelkena</b></div><div>If Max Domi becomes a Canuck, I find a new team to root for. Even if it would make sense. Domi is an idiot. A bad teammate and the praise he's been getting (from Price I think) is because he needs ego coddling and everyone knows it. I would never do it.
Having said that. I'm also not paying Brock and Olli and something else to dump Loui when you could pay a lot less and dump Roussel and Sutter who combined cost more cap space. It's a no from Van. I just did a bunch of Jake Allen talk and I also agree he's worth more. I also cant imagine Mtl paying 15 million for goalies. Dumping Byron might be fine and I don't have intel on the contracts and if they are good or not. Sorry bro, I'm not with you this time.</div></div>
Oh bro ... im so sorry , I dont go on as frequent !! Been so caught up watch hockey everyday !! hahaha
ANYWAYS really appreciate the tag ... thats hilarious hahahhaha
I don't post much so this is quite entertaining for me
BUT , im still a HUGE fan of Domi especially him and Horvat had decent chemistry for 3 years on the Knights !

Id see the Tampa trade going for like this... Killorn, Foote and 4th for Kole Lind. Podkolzin is way too good to only get Cirelli out of it.
Sens would take that trade any day. Theyd get some decent top 9 players that they could either use as depth or trade right away for picks.</div></div>
I just dont think canucks has cap for Killorn ... what bout bumping the 5th round pick up ;p

It's called planning for future and we just lost all of Utica and Podkolzin. There's nothing left.</div></div>
do you think Pod will fit our current cap crunch timeline ? .... like obviously RFA market really depends on the year and who sets the market ... but seeing marner ... nylander ... klingberg (this one was a bit rare ... as it was like the first wave of long bridge deals) ... all of these players got like a "big" bridge
Im just worried by the team Pod gets here , we too tied down in cap ... and now we have to look at how he develops
thats why i feel like hey lets move assets now and get someone to just speed up this process. I see Cirelli a great 3rd line centre, solid on faceoffs ... decent defensively and can put up a low 40 - mid 50 point guy.
