I don't know for St-Louis, they're not traiding Parayko, but they will listen due to the 2 first and Schmidt that's an interresting offer

Habs says no, don't need Roussel we have other big priorities

The Blues are not in a teardown, and they're not in a Detroit situation. So no.

Holy what the heck is that Blues trade? The Sedins would have to tie Jim Benning up if he tries to do that….

Contending with a motivated Zack Kassian several times in a season is not in Edmonton's interest. If they move him, he will be headed outside the Pacific Division. Also highly unlikely they would take on two struggling players in exchange for Zack.

Just wanting a long term stability for hughes ... im not too hurt with losing 2 x 1st tbh ... yes rookies are important , elc's are important ... but our core is what it is now

If you look at our team in the near future ,

demko - 5 mil , 5 years left
hughes - 7mil + assume
horvat - 5.5 , 2yrs left
miller - 5.85 , 2 yrs left
boeser - next contract is minimum 7.5 due to rfa rights
petey - 7 mil+ assume

thats close to 40 mil for our core LOL - which is 50% of the team

Pod and Hog - still on ELC

So having 2 more 1st rounders on the team is great in concept but having someone who is exactly what we need (not saying parayko is exactly what we need , more just the idea) I think is more important

Just my thoughts

Would it be more intriguing for oiler fans if beagle has retained salary? or does that still not out weigh having kassian in the pacific division

Also , Ferland will be LTIR for Oilers ... so if you think about it $$$ wise ... 1 year beagle + 2 years ferland ltir for 3 years kassian

I doubt it. If you recall his days as a Canuck, you will know that when Kassian is playing his "A" game he is a terror for the opposition and easily capable of playing with high-end line mates. The guy has speed, size, toughness, and skill, but has been plagued by inconsistency throughout his career. He had a slow start to the last season, not a surprise that a guy who plays with such emotion would falter in an empty arena. Puljujarvi got a shot with McDavid and had a great year, and in the meantime Kassian suffered a couple of pretty significant injuries that slowed him down. His last couple playoff games, in Winnipeg, saw "Good Kassian" return, and I suspect Ken Holland and Dave Tippett are hoping that guy shows up next season and pushes Yamamoto, maybe even JP, for a spot in the top six. I also think that is why Holland's asking price might be beyond what most fans deem reasonable.

I could be wrong, I certainly was with respect to the Oilers acquiring Duncan Keith.

Fair assessment !

I actually think Keith with oilers will surprise a lot of oiler fans .

I think oilers has been missing a voice for a while , without breaking up the team and lack of ufa to fill that specific role ... I actually think it was a good move for oilers

For the most part, I think Oiler fans would agree and do not take issue with what Duncan Keith might bring on the ice and in the locker room.

There is far more concern regarding the impact of Keith's contract and its AAV. The Oilers have a pretty substantive shopping list they need to address in order to improve their team. The priority is dealing with Adam Larsson, or finding a suitable replacement. Next is the need to find a solid 3C. They need to negotiate a new contract for Kailer Yamamoto, and it would be nice if they could add one more top 6 forward and perhaps upgrade the goaltending. They must also sign some depth players, or bring in prospects to fill those roles, and they need to plan for contract extensions for Darnell Nurse, Ethan Bear, and Ryan McLeod in one year's time. With Keith in the fold, the Oilers have just over $11M to accomplish all of that. Holland likes to have a $2M cushion under the salary cap, and top tier talent to fill the two must haves will likely cost in the neighborhood of $7.5M to $8.5M. Contracts can be buried or bought out, and it seems less likely traded. During the off season the Oilers can exceed the salary cap by up to 10% as long as they are compliant by the time the next season opens. Buying out Neal, Koskinen, and Turris would open almost $8.3M in additional cap space for next season, and moving Klefbom to LTIR would clear another $4.2M. That's a huge amount of cap space, but it would shrink to $1.6M the following season, and turn into $1,916,667 in dead cap space for two more seasons after that. So acquiring the full AAV on Duncan Keith's contract hasn't done-in the Oilers, but its made the situation pretty difficult for them.

In many ways, this situation leads folks to pine for a Kassian trade. Moving his $3.2M AAV might help free up Holland to make other moves, but the Oilers would definitely suffer if they did not replace him. Their roster needs to get heavier, and moving Kassian is counterintuitive to that.

Just sign Parayko when he becomes a UFA. Blues will decline further this season. Parayko will be looking for a new destination then.
