This team looks cool af. I think this team has high chances of winning, certainly a contender.
I think Parayko is an over-hyped player, but Couturier/Schwartz/Ehlers/Smith are underrated af, and they're not even all the forwards the team has to pitch in at both ends of the ice.
And having Slavin/Parayko/Brodie/Chychun/Edler is insane.
Both the goalies are past their prime, but a return to form from either one means the team should feel safe while they control the puck and force outside shots the whole game.

I don't think the Hawks accept, only because of how much of an albatross Fleury's contract is. Although, the Hawks are in a really weird place right now, so I'm not sure what they'll do

Yeah, 10000%. Some ACGMs make zero sense.

Also, while I agree, Robertson cant play in the AHL. He would be in the OHL whos season is very questionable right now. Probably why you see him up on 4th lines in peoples AGMs.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Penguins21</b></div><div>Good to know, thanks for the info. But I still don’t think it matters where he plays. It’s not gonna be on the 4th line in Toronto. And also sitting in the press box when you need that defensive 4th line and tougher/ bigger 4th line. Top scoring prospects don’t play on 4th lines. They will stay down and get the playing time elsewhere until a top 4 forward spot is open or atleast a 3rd line and 2nd PP spot is open for competition. You don’t play your top scoring prospect on the 4th line. And 4th line minutes. Unless his shine is gone and hes 26-27 years old and looking like a bust.</div></div>
Because Juniors is likely not happening, the teenagers may actually be able to play in the AHL this year... some talks of that. Otherwise, there's still the option of playing in Switzerland or one of the other European leagues (besides the DEL, which I believe is also cancelled).

What a cultured take. I hope the pens can make good use of Kapanen with Malkin or Crosby.
I do think Barabanov is NHL ready, although it's not a big deal if he isn't: Robertson, Vesey, Anderson, Barabanov, Engvall, Korshkov, Brooks, maybe even Petan can all compete for those last few roster spots.
I think Dubas had a very strong offseason. I wish we had one more bona fide top 4 defenseman, but I still think this team should at least make the second round. Way more well-rounded than previous iterations of the Dubas leafs.

Ekblad trade is WAYYY overpaid. Why would you trade for Ekblad and sacrifice a 30+ goal scorer on a good contract AND a 15th overall pick and a servicable 2nd/3rd pairing D-man? Nylander and Dermott for Ekblad and a 4th. Or just sign Pietrangelo, and give up Johnson and Kerfoot instead for draft picks. You get assets and a great defender, without sacrificing a core player and a 1st and Derms?</div></div>
The cost of Ekblad, who still possibly hasn't reached his highest potential of being that high IQ superelite defender, is going to be really high. I think it's an overpay but you're not getting a 4th back for Nylander + Dermott, but I don't know what makes Florida bite. The less you need to give up, the better.
I wonder if the play is to make a trade for Ekblad sacrificing Nylander + or perhaps a Marner deal, and then still signing Pietrangelo in free agency. That blue line would be no joke and the offense would still be elite with Ekblad/Pietrangelo and losing one of the top Right Wings.

Lafreniere top 6
I think that this team has high potential with a roster like this, but I the Strome cap hit and term worry me a bit - given the rest of the body of his work, and his age, I think it might be a slight overpay. I doubt his brother, Dylan, gets this much for example. But man, that top 6, goaltending, and defense are nice.

I think that you could likely get more back in a package of Andersen and Kerfoot than moving up in the first round by 2 spots and a goalie downgrade/Martinook, but this team looks good and the contract signings are reasonable.

Doesn't make no sense. Marchment didn't crack the roster this year but it's not impossible he doesn't next year, and it's possible he has a locker room presence or familiarity with the other Marlies players. Could help develop them in that way.
I would bet Bennett puts up more points this season, but that's why I'm trading for him, although there must have been a reason he played on Jankowski's wing.
Kivihalme is added because it's a Middle of the Road defensive prospect. I've been a fan of him when I've seen him play. Mobile, good poke check, good passing. Knows when to get back from the offensive end.

Yeah, it's hard to say if he's still available. If I were Treliving, I probably wouldn't be moving him, but the value on the trade seems fine. It's possible a deal like that gets done if he's not as optimistic about Bennett as you or me, or likes the more guaranteed value of Kerfoot's cap hit for the next few seasons, or the higher number of points he brings.

I think Engvall is solidly a 4th liner, and has some upside for a 3rd line. IDK if the panthers bite on it, but it could make sense for both teams, especially considering a 7th rounder and Marchment aren't much to pay for that.
I'd really just trade Engvall anywhere for a pick and/or struggling/suffocated depth player.

If Kapanen gets a 1st plus, Johnsson should be getting more than a 3rd as a gritty 20 goal scorer. If the market for him is, at best, a 3rd, then sure. I think it's likely at least 1 team is willing to offer at least a 2nd for him.
With his injury and high-ish cap hit, I personally wouldn't bite on him if I were another team. But I could be wrong.

From my description:
Engvall is a cap casualty in a way, but getting something back for him in Mason Marchment is good. He's gritty and has an outside shot at making the lineup, or being a replacement in case of injury or Spezza or Thornton needing a rest day because they're older. Petan or Brooks or whoever else can also fill in depending on good of a year they're having or the matchup.
I also just think he could make it, or has a good AHL season and gets traded to a team looking for depth or who is a believer in untapped scoring ability. Especially if his skating improves, guys have to look out for him when he steps on the ice.

Bennet Trades
Kerfoot does have a digging and grindy ability as well, that much is certain. Bennett may still have unrealized potential (I'm still holding out to some extent), but it's the lower cap hit of Bennett and his ability to go up and down the lineup that'd be the kicker for me.
Like, Kerfoot can play on lines 2 or 3. But I'd just feel bad if I had to throw Kerfoot on the 4th line, whereas I could totally throw Bennett on an energy line and it'd be A-Ok.

Bennet Trades
Bennett is inconsistent (although clutch in the playoffs). If Calgary is looking for an upgrade and believes in Kerfoot's potential > Bennett's, and like the consistent cap hit of Kerfoot, they'll go for it.
Leafs going for Bennett addresses the high-energy guy they need, and is more of a "gamble".

Love me some Enzo 63, but I'm not sure you get Petro at that offer (if he'd sign it, great though). Martin is a chad, would love to see him in a 12/13th forward role. I think Mikheyev looks for a little more but the roster doesn't look bad by any means. Brassard is a great add-on for his talent, face-off ability, and his physicality.

If Spezza's coming back it'll likely be at league min of 700K.
Lehtonen and Dermott are both likely higher in the lineup than Liljegren.
I think the Mikheyev contract is a lil stingy, and Fleury is probably playing too high in the lineup.
I also think the return on Holl and Johnsson is not enough to warrant moving them. If Kapanen can get a 1st, surely Johnsson wouldn't have to be packaged with a 2nd and a 3rd to get a 1st.
I do think that Andersen trade is alright, and the Markstrom signing is apt.

Andersen and Pesce Trade and Bottom 6 Depth
I think the Leafs need to add 2 RHD to be closer to a cup contender. Holl in the top 4 is okay - I really do like him, but imagine having Holl on the 3rd pairing?? Now we mean business. And having a more well-rounded attack and forecheck is what we need as well, but let's focus on the defense:
DeMelo is a cheap enough, defensively-oriented guy who ticks a lot of boxes for the Leafs. A little better than Holl at almost everything so he's great.
Gudas is someone Dubas has been talking to in the off-season. Idk exactly why you're not a fan of him, but I'll admit I haven't had many opportunities to watch him play this past year. His stat line shows he's good defensively and has a lot of hits, which is a nice-to-have aspect in a defenseman.
On that note, Cernak for Liljegren is an idea I have been very fond of. I've floated that idea a lot a lot. Cernak is like Schenn except more fleet of foot with less bruising ability, which is a good tradeoff.
I've honestly never been the biggest fan of Hamonic, not gonna say much else, but he blocks hella shots so I could see it working. I think he costs too much for what you get and there are better options in Free Agency or through trade, could be wrong though.
I know Matt Roy and Sean Walker are decent options too. Bogosian as well. Shattenkirk I'm honestly not sold on because I'm not sure it adds a different element to the team. Petro is the expensive on one the books and it seems nearly impossible.
I've talked in other threads about how expensive Parayko would be and I'm not interested in exploring that route too much. I think the ask is too high and he's a tad overrated.
