That's illogical, you're basically saying they should give up a top 10 pick now in a strong draft so that they might be able to save a top 10 pick later?

Theres a plethora of high potential defencemen in the top 10 this year trading out of it for an RFA (my bad) who’s going to get paid in the offseason makes no sense for a rebuilding team.
This team is nowhere near ready to compete so picks are almost certainly not going to be traded for almost anything.

Not a chance the Flames trade a top 10 pick for a UFA about to make upwards of 7 mil

Not seeing why we would take the extra year and retain money on top of that.
You gotta attach a pick or two for the Flames to consider that

This offer is ridiculously low value for the Flames and if thats what he was moved for we’d riot.

So going big is making garbage trades and setting the team back another 5-6 years?
Not surprised you're a leafs fan with that horrid Andersson trade

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>I don't think you connected the dots here very well my friend...
You said "Add your next 10 firsts and then it's a maybe lol" Obviously exaggerating, but believing Huberdea's contract isn't as much of a cap dump as he actually is.
You then talk about how you can use the contract to get to the cap floor, and how it can still be in play with competition, indirectly significant that the player's value is enhanced due to this situation, which it isn't.
All this is to come to the point that don't start calling people dumb when you missed part of the logic.
Anyways, cheers man</div></div>

Man you really have reading comprehension issues lmao
I said we would use the contract to reach the cap floor not that his value magically increases, so basically there is more value in us to keep him than pay him to play for someone else for some trash contract and get nothing in return.
Try to use your brain and think about in what way the Flames benefit from doing the trade in this ACGM cause there isn't one.

You're gonna have to add way more compensation to have the Flames take a capdump and retain 50% on Mangiapane.

Or if you were smart just use the contract to reach the cap floor cause there isn't a rule that you can't be competitive with a bad contract on the books just look at Dallas.
Either way im sure you'll be objective and unbiased considering your username and comparison of Reinbacher to Josi :tearsofjoy

That joke of an offer isn't getting Ryan Pulock out of Long Island.
And on what planet does David Kampf return a 3rd round pick? :shakehead</div></div>
I actually think the Flames would accept that from a value perspective but the issue would be if management actually decides to do business with Treliving again.

Would Calgary do this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riddick19</b></div><div>All good just throwing it out there.... But to consider this, Philly wanted Tyler Boucher 10th overall to take Mathieu Joseph last summer who had 3 years at $2.95M as payment to take the cap hit. Which is why I was throiwing it out there. It';s a steep price for sure, and a very good draft especia;lly if you're looking for defenseman. But to get out from $8M for 7 years.....Yopu'd have to give up siomething very valuable. But just looking for opinions thanks guys :)</div></div>
I can understand the sentiment but its not so desperate that we’re at the point of giving away potential franchise savers just to get rid of a mistake.
The team desperately needs a top 4 defenceman that could carry us into the future which in my opinion should be either Carter Yakemchuk or Zayne Perekh who are likely going to be available at that pick.
Makes more sense to hold onto Huberdeau and try to revive him so he can be traded for less when the cap jumps even higher soon.

Retooling quickly
Why does it have to be a quick retool?
The new arena won’t be ready until 2027 so it would be way smarter to just rebuild patiently instead of being idiots like we have in the past.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TyeZerker</b></div><div>Yeah lets watch Holtz score 30 goals and lets watch everyone of these players stink good idea, PS stop being back ex devils. Devils hold all the chips so markstrom will be cheap. Your over paying for hague and markstrom but hey your just like fitzy CLUELESSS. Holtz had more pts than Tatar was playing good even tho the devils have a bunch of idiots running the time and Jack needs a full time center unless he magical becomes a 50%+ faceoff. Itll be pathetic to trad Holtz for markstrom but not for Meier YIKES. again stay of the drugs bruh. how much you giving hague in a new deal? you realize bahl is cheap and younger.</div></div>
You guys don’t hold all the chips with Markstrom it’s like you guys don’t think there are other teams desperate for a top 10 goalie to make a potential playoff run.
Basically it comes down to either you guys pay up whatever price is being asked for or run an Allen Kahkonen duo into next year and see how well that plays out.
