<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AV12</b></div><div>Burns returned a 3rd, Bjorkstrand returned a 3rd+4th, dermott returned a 3rd last year in the exact same scenario. I’m not saying the team is Nashville, but considering Kerfoot is cheaper than all the players you listed, his market value is set at a 3rd that is the discount.</div></div>

Burns &amp; Bjorkstrand are both much more valuable players than Kerfoot - he's a 40 point player who had a spike to 50 playing on a line with Tavares &amp; Marner. He scored less points (as a forward) than Brent Burns did (as whatever hybrid F/D he is), and Oliver Bjorkstrand had more than double the amount of goals that he did. If those two dudes only brought back the equivalent of a 3rd/4th (Burns was a 3rd &amp; Steven Lorentz), why would Kerfoot come close to that deal when he's clearly less productive?

Also: don't know if you just glossed over it but Dmitry Kulikov costs less than Kerfoot ($2.25M AAV) and he was let go for FC. I'd argue that he's probably the best comp for Kerfoot - a middle-6/middle-pair type of guy on a mid-tier salary coming off a solid, if not spectacular season.

I just don't see a 3rd coming back for him, based on the values we've seen this summer. I'm not saying it's impossible, but there's very few suitors left that have the cap space for him and he's got a 10-team NTC that probably knocks out half those guys. And I just don't see Alexander Kerfoot as a guy that you do cap gymnastics to squeeze onto your roster.
