Keep in mind you're dealing with teams that are going to be contenders that mostly don't have a deep prospect pool or young talent. what team could out bid the Rangers. Toronto, LA maybe but I don't think so.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devsfan25</b></div><div>I keep hearing Rangers fans talk about Kakko this year like he's had some sort of breakout season. The guy has 3 points in 11 games while playing in a consistent top 6 role. I've watched a few Rangers games this year and I will admit he looks strong on the puck and shows flashes of offensive ability, but rarely converts on his chances. For a player like Kane, you're gonna need to give up a lot more than a guy whose on pace for 22 points in an 82 game season. Start by including that Dallas 1st</div></div>
Look at it from this prospective, you are giving up a guy who is 33yrs old on his last year of his contract as a UFA, might not resign for a young 22yr who is an extra year on his contract as a RFA, who has a lot of potential given his draft year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>I was responding to the other person saying NY can't take on the cap hit. To answer your question, 50% per NHL rules at the time of trade against whatever cap is left for the player. If NYR acquired Kane today, Chicago retains 50% of the current cap hit, the current cap is no $10.5M ($5.25M at 50% retention), it is actually a little more then $9M or $4.5M at 50% retention based on 10 games already being played. So NYR would be taking on $4.5M'ish cap with a trade today...that number continues to go down as Kane plays more games in a Blackhawks sweater.</div></div>
His starting salary cap of 10.5 also goes down at the TDL. My understanding this argument that the rangers will not be able to fit him under the cap bc they can't take on 5.25 but 4.5is null and void

If anything, he wants to end his career as a Blackhawks and more likely takes a hiatus for another team for a few years. Kane has another 8 to 10 years of playing time I'm betting.</div></div>
I don't know about 8-10 years being 33 yrs old. You go from a bottom cellar team to the Stanely Cup Contender. Reunite with the bread man. Go to another original six team that has more publicity. Overall to further submit his legacy

I think he wants to end his career as a Ranger as well as keep them a Stanley Cup Contender. When you trade for a rental at the TDL teams look at how this player could effect the team multiple years down the line. like for example: Goodrow and Coleman. A team willl most likely not win the a Stanely Cup the first year from the trade.

How much of Kane's salary could CHI maximally take on at the TDL?

Teams can call up as many players as they want once the playoffs begins

The Isles would do that trade in a heartbeat but I do not think Toronto will. Too many first round picks moving out the door for Toronto the past four years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Edmonton isn't in the market for a top-4 RHD, even if Mayfield has that capability. Parise is a non-factor too, he wouldn't be top-9 in Edmonton... basically, I'm struggling to see why Edmonton would give up - for the first time ever - a 1st for a rental.
And Klefbom is on LTIR and has been for years. Including him does nothing for Edmonton's cap situation.</div></div>
How can you say Edmonton is not in the Market for a Top 4 RHD . The only RHD better than Mayfield is Bouchard. Ceci and Barrie can't even Defend. Barrie at this point is only effective on the powerplay. Mayfield is much better defender then Kulack while putting up the same production. EDM has a major weakness on Defense

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rext7177</b></div><div>The only thing is, it wouldn't really make sense to trade Klefboms contract as Smith will still be on LTIR, would make more sense to move a roster player instead, maybe Foegele has a bounce back and has some value and the trade could be Foegele, a 1st, and a 3rd</div></div>
The isles can't take players back on multiple years they would be trying to shed money long term what about Mike Smith is he going to come back from LTIR

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Why take Klefbom back in that Edmonton deal? His deal is up at the end of the year, so it's not like you can use him as future LTIR space if needed. He's just a non-asset at this point.
Mayfield alone should get back the equivalent of a 1st and a 4th based on what what the D market looked like at last year's deadline and his affordability with retention. Parise is in the same boat as a useful bottom 6 winger who could be retained down to $375K - Andrew was much less productive last year (4-11-15 in 56 GP) and Colorado gave up a 5th when San Jose was able to retain him down to $500K, so I gotta think Parise retained (if he maintains last year's production) fetches at least a 3rd.</div></div>
I took back Kelfbrom to make the cap fit for both teams, wasn;t sure if Kelfbrom was going on LITR or not
Given the fact Mayfield going to play less minutes on the Isles this year compared to the last three teams might not be willing to give up a first for a current bottom pair Dman.
Parise is 38 years old I do not see him repeating his production from last year even if he is paired with Barzal
