This is also a move to give the guys on the fourth line motivation to compete

They are at the cap floor. Look at all the contracts they signed this offseason that want to tank for Bernard. You would have to included a 2nd for them to consider.

2nd pairings from worst to best
Some of Pairings that you ranked high up is overcompensated by one strong Defenseman. Like Ouinn Hughes/ Luke Schenn. Mattias Ekholm and Carrier Alexander. These kind of pairings are not balanced. Should be ranked lower on the bracket.

If this were the best offer I say Vancouver should just hold onto Miller all season and try for the playoffs. I would rather see one round of playoff action then take this deal, even if it meant Miller walks for free at the end of the year.</div></div>
Then you be a stupid GM losing him for nothing and flaming the hatred of your fanbase.
Van takes a risk at the TDL if Miller underachieves in point totals and the team is not in a position to make the playoffs

Sorokin Big Contract
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>teehihl</b></div><div>He's going to have to have a phenomenal season this year to get that kind of extension tho, no one else in the league in his caliber right now makes anywhere near 8 mil. could change over the next two seasons, but there aren't a lot of "elite" potential goaltenders who will be up for a new contract until after sorokin will have signed his. Will be an interesting situation for sure. really like the guys play.</div></div>
Sorokin negotiate tactic is going to be that the cap is going to raise dramatically when his RFA Contract is done and Shesterkin can command anywhere between 8.5 - 9.5 million as the #1 goaltender in the league, so Sorokin is not far behind him. It also puts the isles in a crunch if Sorokin has a better next two years than Shesterkin because of superior defense behind him compare to the Rangers.

Yeah, that's why I think Romanov will get between 2 million and 2.2 and Dobson will be kicked up to 7million on a 6-7 year deal . But Lou MO is to bridge players after their ELC's

What Now
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AndrewGoalie33</b></div><div>Sure we’re fine without Kadri. But we would’ve been better for at least the next two years WITH Kadri. Signing him to a seven year deal is a huge mistake, hell, a give year deal would’ve been a huge mistake. But I’m just tired of all the Isles rumors amounting to nothing</div></div>
I can understand your frustration with this team. Left transitioning was the biggest need of the offseason Lou solved that hopefully with Romanov thats what made the isles contenders. Lou could of traded Varlamov at the draft and make a side deal to trade for a backup but that takes assets with a goalie market that was scarce. Bailey contract is unable to be traded in a flat cap this offseason showed the isles would have to give up a first . A first in next year's draft is very valuable . Trading beauvillier would not be the strongest move given he is a young 25 year old forward who has tons of speed decent hands and good on the forecheck. Never trade stock at its lowest value. It would be tough for anyone to take on Pageau given he is a 3rd line center making 5 million for 4 years.
To get Tarasenko you looking to trade a first given his bounce back year and his stock has dramatically risen Gaudreau probably never wanted to come to Long Island but I will agree with you that Lou placed a undermarket offer to him. I bet Lou was heavily wanting Forsberg and had to pivot once Nash resigned him.

Brock Nelson and Ryan O'Reilly never even cracked 30 goals before their signings. Kevin Hayes never cracked 50 points before his signing, overpayment by the Flyers You also have to factor in inflation in the market. Try again. If Horvat scores another 30 goals like I said it is a problem

He is also more likely to sign a little less than market value to stay in Vancouver. Maybe you should think with your head before you keep whining. Bye</div></div>

No need to worry about Pettersson signing because we also get rid of Myers which frees up 6 mil in cap space. You clearly know nothing if you think so strongly that Horvat walks in free agency. You also seriously think Pageau is the answer? I’d rather player one of our wingers at center than have a 30 year old bottoms so player who puts up 30-40 points</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>I think you’re talking about JT Miller. Bo Horvat isn’t going anywhere. Management is going to do whatever it takes to keep him, Miller on the other hand is tradeable. Our team is not really thin at center. If we trade Miller, we still have Pettersson and Horvat. All we would need is a 3C which isn’t that big of a deal. Pageau being payed 5 million as a 3C is just poor cap management when he is already 29 and not getting any better. I wouldn’t call that cost controlled. We already have a lot of forwards in our system. Pageau as our 2C is a nightmare and only happens if we want to rank for Bedard.</div></div>
If Horvat scores another 30 goals this year than you are looking at player who can command 8-8.5 million dollars on the open market. The team probably wants to resign Petterson to a 9-9.5 million dollar over 8 years . The fact that the team is not a playoff team and is not contending now, I would say Horvat is not going to be resign. It is better to find a replacement now temporarily now then wait and get screwed in two years.

Bo Hovat has one year remaining until UFA. The Canucks are probably not going to resign him(he is going to price himself out of Vancouver budget). Your team is already thin at center so Pageau could move up to 2nd line center until you can draft a 2nd line center, Now you have a cost controlled center and definite first round pick in the 20's where all the teams you are trading at the TDL will be at.

How to Dump Bailey Worst Case Scernario
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles5513</b></div><div>Rule one of dumping a contract is don’t retain on said contract. Do you really want to trade Bellows who is worth maybe a 3rd or 4th round pick and a second round pick to dump bailey WITH retention.
Do you realize how close this is to the Ladd deal? Hell there may be some Kieffer Bellows fan boy out there who values him more than I do!</div></div>
First this is the worst case scenario, read the title. Second the market so far dictates that trading players with more than 3million AAV is difficult and will cost a premium for the last two off seasons. A young team which usually has the most capspace available is looking to take on a 25 year old winger rather then a 32 year old that has left his prime and is prospected to be on the third line on most teams.
Yes Bailey has some value but other GMs know that Lou is looking to sign a big time free agent. Lou has zero leverage in trading out a player. The other GMs around the league will take advantage of that.
