<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>you mean slightly higher than the pace he put up in bottom paring minutes with the leafs? yeah, that wouldnt be surprising at all if he got an extra 5 or so minutes a game. That's significantly different than the 164 point pace he's running with the caps so far.</div></div>
I am not saying that he going to put up the pace he is on now thats unrealistic but is he a top 4 dman can put up points on a team top powerplay absolutely

I just saw Sandin was being shelter the past two season and we needed a puck carrying Dman on the left side to carry the puck out of the zone to replace Leddy/Toews. When I looking at Dunn, Sandin and Chyrunn last offseason

I bet you this Sandin is consistently a 35-40 point player every year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>first off, Toews was putting up elite defensive numebers and comparable offensive numbers to what he did when he got to Colorado.
And yes, the leafs gave Sandin plenty of chances to make the top 4, Rielly and Muzzin had been hurt for large swaths of Sandin's career and he never played well enough to take those minutes. Sandin played well in soft bottom pair minutes and couldnt take that extra step in toronto no matter how many chances he got. Pretending otherwise is revisionist</div></div>
No remember that Toews had Mayfield to shelter Toews from the Defensive responsibilities Toews only showed his defensive capabilities when he was paired with Makar

Nah I always knew Sandin was a top 4 dman that can quaterback a powerplay. I wanted the Isles to offersheet him last season given the chance. I was shocked that the Leafs traded him.

The biggest problem with Leafs is they didn't give him the minutes to showcase his ability Sandin was anchor on the third pair playing an average of 16.25 min/game. That falls on your coach and GM. The only time when Sandin had a chance is when everyone else got injured</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>well, you see the difference here is that Toews was already one of the better 2 way defenders in the league and Lou traded him for scraps because he signed a bunch of bad players to bad deals.
Dubas traded Sandin because he could not out play the guys in front of him and now he is literally getting every bounce in 3 of his 4 games. Like, Sandin is playing well but he is getting 75% offensive zone starts, has a 17.5 on ice shooting % and a 110 PDO. These number are hilariously unsustainable.
Comparing a guy who was elite who continued to be elite after a trade to a guy who was playing like a bottom pairing guy to bobby orr numbers in a hilariously small sample size is simply rediculous and the only reason an islanders fan would make a thread about it is to try and rile up leafs fans.</div></div>

Lets say this as an Isles fan I know when my GM has screwed up, look at the Devon Toews trade the return is not as bad as that but considering the isles were cap strapped gong into the pandemic year its even more moronic for Dubas because he had full control over Sandin. My word of advice don't be shocked when Rielly falls off and there is no one to replace him, you will know the haunting feeling in due time.

I don't think the Islanders can win consistently without Barzal, meanwhile Ottawa and Buffalo seem to be coming together at the right time. Regardless of tonight, Buffalo will still have 3 games in hand and at worst, they're 4 points behind.</div></div>
I guess last night results didn't support your evaluation plus Buffalo is coming off a back to back and has to go to NYC, Buffalo is on life support. Ottawa is TBD

Because they won't be making it.</div></div>
What team is going to overtake them Buffalo. There defense and Goaltending is horrendous. Florida is stabilizing but Bob will run out of gas and they have to make up 8 points with one game in hand. Ottawa is young but will eventually slow down given the pace they are recently on. WASH is older than the isles and lost depth at the trade deadline. The isles have the X factor in Sorokin. At the end of the day you have to win the games in hand and no team is consistently doing that

this team is so terrifying
This team is not terrifying, they brought in two wingers whose years are numbered, their defense gives up to many high dangerous chances and they have a goalie that played out of his mind last year not this year. Inconclusion they will be out in the second round in six games when they verse the Canes.

Year 2 after big deadline move
The isles are going to have to add Wahlstrom given the fact that the Pens, Sens and Carolina are also on Chychrun. Lou is probably debating right now to throw in Wahstrom but he probably wants to wait until the offseason so he could trade Pageau and get some picks back to not have to throw in Wahlstrom. Overall Wahlstrom in my guess is definitely on the table

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Once again, the Flyers had no leverage with Giroux last year. Tarasenko has an NTC and would ONLY go to the Rangers. The originally predicted return of a 1st and prospect already calculated for that factor. You don't get to use the same coupon twice on a single purchase.
It does seem like that is what is going to happen. But it shouldn't.</div></div>
But with the Tarasenko trade the Rangers were not originally going to go for Kane so they did not mind giving up a first given the fact that they had an extra first in this year's draft. The Rangers will not give up a first because they know they don't need Kane.

Do you think Davidson will just forget that, do you think other teams GM's are going to overlook the fact that Drury isn't offering fair value? This sort of offer is as bad for Drury's career as the OF MB made for Aho was for his.</div></div>
First off every GM knows when you have leverage use it that is just part of business. Second an offersheet is frown upon because the players who get offersheet are RFA under full control by there teams and for the original team to meet the offersheet it takes capspace that team would not want to willingly give up.

When Chicago ownership callls Davidson and ask him why did you not get anything in return for Kane , when the owner knows that Kane is leaving in free agency and at the time still had control of him. It is going to make Davidson very inept as a GM.
